That settles it. I will be playing this Saturday.
Amanda is going, and I’m gonna try to get out of working. 25% chance of me showing up.
God damn video game addiction…
Just so you know…I have agreed and will be running HDR at Season’s Beatings 4. There will be some tournaments on Friday as I keep in regular contact with Fugee. When I get some more information I will pass it along. One thing for sure is this: If you want a good chance in playing against Daigo/Justin/Marn or any of the other top players in their respective games…Friday is the day to show up. There are always great casuals and some random tournaments going on. Also an Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Arcade Cab with brand new sticks/buttons will be on site.
Just a heads up.
See you all there…
Frank
Josh–Get with me and I’ll take care of the converter ASAP.
I’ll go tonight if I can bum a ride, I won’t have enough gas to make it if I want to go this weekend.
I would like to, but I’m in much the same boat, or car, rather, that Adam is.
I think they kept it mostly close to the originals to ensure balance. I’m happy enough with what seem like two completely different characters: Zero and Frank.
Plus, Tekkaman Blade and Gatchaman are what the U.S. players may recognize first off from the old anime days. I’m just hoping that the movesets for these characters are original and not lame adjustments, but I refuse to get my hopes up too much.
Yatterman #2 kind of confuses me. Must of been the need to throw in an extra Tatsunoko character to make up for the removal (murder!) of Daimao.
frank west is the main character from dead rising. i’m sure he’ll have zombie attacks like jill plus use a lawnmower at some point.
Maybe Yatterman #2 is the pelican version re-skinned but plays mostly the same?
I’m thinking another major shoot with the entire crew would be best imo, but that’ll be hard to get everyone on the same page to go someplace that would make for good pictures.
I’d like to get some though, because those pics really added some solid content to the mixtape I thought. Maybe just do smaller groups? Get in everyone as we go maybe? /shrug
@Gaming this weekend
I"ll probably go to AL, so I guess I can grab you Ross.
Yay for pictures!
That’s what I’m thinking too. Although I am scared for not a whole lot people to show up and fail to realize that this is one of my class assignments. Not fulfilling would be my biggest fear, hence why I am mentioning it now and generating some ideas. So far, I’m REALLY thinking of shooting at night, but I will do some night shooting in advance to make sure that I can pull off what I’m thinking in my head.
Also Jason, I might be up for AL this Saturday and if you are picking up Ross, do you have space for me? I’ll phone in the verdict if things change…
MIXTAPE UPDATE:
I’ve successfully ordered an external hard drive for whatever work it is needed for. A generous friend also gave me her old laptop which is MacBook, so I should be able to pirate Final Cut Pro (cross fingers) and install it on my system. If that fails to happen, WSU has a Final Cut Pro lab 24hrs a day, so my feeling will not be hurt. lol. Shortly after, I should be able to start capturing the footage I already have and creating a “checklist” of the footage I need.
Come to AL and I will do my best to obtain a copy of Final Cut Pro for you.
That looks tight as hell
he already has a copy of it.
I was checking out some tekken 6 videos cause Skeez got me a little interested the other night at my place.
What did they do to throws though?! King’s big swing did like 60% damage is DR, now I don’t see why you would attempt it. Although the bound thing into running powerbomb is sweet.
I won’t buy it because I don’t have time to play SF4/BB like I want to but eh we’ll see.
Well not quite. My boss has it, but I haven’t asked him for it yet. I’ll get to it eventually, maybe when my HD arrives next week.
…I can’t remember if someone asked me about the bosses a while ago…
King’s GS is a very difficult throw to escape on reaction sometimes, but in some cases its fairly easy to predict (I’m horrible at escaping it, ask anyone). I’ve never really noticed a huge change in damage from DR to BR, but what you might have saw in the BR is someone teching out of the throw when they land. If you time a tech roll right when you hit you the ground, you reduce about a 1/4 of the damage. When you don’t, you take extra damage. Not to mention, there is more health in BR to help balance the game from the bound combos. It is still an excellent move to attempt because:
- It’s pretty hard to escape on reaction (for me at least…)
- You can still gain wall damage if you throw them near a wall because you cannot tech the throw at a wall.
- LOTS of different ways to buffer it (again, ask Phil…he’ll link anything into GS)
- I think it’s an option select command? If you were to predict it and try to jump kick, King might get an air throw instead of GS…
- I think it is the only command grab that he has that you can only escape with pressing 1 (square)…which I think makes it difficult to see whether or not he will choose another command grab.
Help, Skeez or Phil?
The key to throws is mixing them up, and using the throws with the fastest escape windows.
Some throws have unique techs like the Giant Swing. Its not always about the damage at first, its also about positioning. If someone is staying away from a wall really well, you do a throw that, if it lands, puts them closer to the wall. On the other hand, if you know they are going to escape, some escapes position them in other places. Ganryu is a good example. If he is against the wall, chances are hes going for his 1+3 throw. Even if you escape you end up behind him now with your back to the wall, thus switching positions.
Going for damage or possible position change. Just dont forget to mix it up. Spam the throws with shorter escape windows. Dont forget about other moves though. Its not all about the throws.
Kam pretty much covered it pretty well. GS damage was nerfed in 6/BR through.
I think it does 10 less damage and yep mashing buttons as you land helps you ‘tech’ the throw and it does even less. On top of that King used to get some tasty floor follow ups (aka oki) on wall hits and he doesn’t get them no more.
The benefits of Giant Swing is numerous, Kam mentioned a lot.
-Kam was right, if you do it at the same time a person tries to hop kick you, you will get the aerial power bomb which is unbreakable.
-King actually has a new throw which has the same motion as GS called GS2 (it’s a throw you in the air then slam you into the ground) so you can mix the two throws up off the same buffers. It is a different button to break and on top of that, it has a small window to break as well.
So yeah it is still worth doing but mixing up all his throws makes King a real beast.
