Okay, but Bobby is trying to get his shift picked up tonight for 3s. Its gonna be counter-productive as far as SB4 training for me, but I just wanted to play something.
If he has to work maybe we can play SF4, I just re-unlocked the characters.

apparently theres a SF4 teams tournament on Friday night at SB4?
Yeah I heard your data got corrupted…good ol’ PS3 for you. I’m up to play anything, I’m trying to learn a little Dhalsim in SF4 now, but I think I’m going to go with either Rufus or Boxer come tourney time.
Someone just pulled that out of the air. I mean they didn’t say what Friday was for and it would be cool, but dont get your hopes up.
Adam: Still think your Rufus is best, but its better to be a master of ANYTHING than average at three characters so just pick one.
edit: do you have your inpin? does it work on PC? no matter where/what we play we only have one PS3 stick and one PS2 stick. they play 3s on PC BTW.
I play a little sim. Maybe we can get some matches in on live soon and we can learn some shit.
I am a beast at Samurai Kirby. And I bet that game would REALLY help reaction time. I think I must have pretty good reaction time because I block forever in GG. And Lee. no you can’t download data for SF4 for some reason. It doesn’t work.
I thought that was only when you earned a trophy, otherwise it was fine.
Geez…
I’m in class…it hasn’t even started yet and this 100 level is boring the hell out of me. They’re are definitely hot girls to look at though…oh how I miss school…

anD APPARENTLY , I didnt say there was I was just saying as I saw that but they didnt seem to deny that someone said it.
So, I have decided finally on what I want to mod my PS3 SE with. I need to find a bitching Hawaiian shirt pattern and use that.
Yes, I want my SE and my threads to match.
Also: Thursday might be good for me, then again it might not. I should know tomorrow.
So what you’re saying is you don’t know how to use the word “apparently.” Means “evidently” as in you’ve examined the evidence and FOUND IT TO BE TRUE. You probably should have said something like “supposedly” or “possibly.”
Pope: avatar = good avatar.
Lee: who are “they” that play 3s on pc?
GG’s tonight at Lee’s Nathan/Lee/Skeez/Carter/Henry.
Lee and I discussed this a bit, but I wanted to do a list of match-ups (since that is a large portion of the meta game in 4) that we don’t have much experience with, both play time wise and concept wise.
Akuma- If the player is even halfway decent I think we’re in trouble. They don’t even need the crazy RH loops and cross up Tatsu’s, they just need good zoning fundamentals. At least for my character selection they do. I got lucky and beat an Akuma at EVO, but I’m sure there are a few solid ones lurking out there.
Gen- Yeah, Carter played him (he was beating me tonight) but Jibbo will obviously be there and he has Chop-FADC shenanigans down. I’m also not used to his footsies which are apparently his strong point. I think I can deal with cross ups once I start relying on Cr. MP more, but if your character doesn’t have a good ground AA I think you’re boned.
Seth- Josh Ballard seems to be cleaning up at A.L. and I’m not sure if Arturo will show or not. Either way, a good Seth is pretty hard for most of our characters. I get a little leeway, since that match is pretty one sided for Rufus, but you never know. I’m afraid of his stun potential mostly.
For that matter, all of the console characters-
Gouken- Antwan will be there, and so will Sanford. I literally have NO clue what to do. I know he loses fireball wars, but still, he can be scary.
Cammy- once again, no clue. I just treat her like a fireball-less shoto and watch for her DP.
Sakura- Air to ground resets and lots of weird guessing games, isn’t one of her hurricane kicks safe?
Rose- Get ready to be annoyed to no end by a good Rose. Annoying back dash to say the least.
Fei Long- Ok not too concerned about this one, but hey, you never know.
Dan- I think we can just throw this one out.
Blanka- I still have trouble, hopefully Brent or Rex will prepare me enough on LIVE in the next coming weeks.
Chun-Li: There will be some really solid Chuns attending, and she can be pretty scary. I play with one of the attendees on LIVE so I get a small glimpse of what she can really do. Watch for overhead, jumping fierce shenanigans, and EX-leg links galore.
Ken- He doesn’t have near the versatility of Ryu, but that doesn’t mean he’s any less scary. He’s a poor man’s Rufus, but I think he can be more confusing at times.
Jeeze, that’s a lot of the cast actually. Well, hopefully we can do some homework.
Edit: Woops I forgot Sagat. Sure we know what he is capable of, but the lack of experience is going to hurt.
And Sim… and all of you fix your corner game.
Stuff I know from playing three of those chars/trying to learn three of those chars…
-Sak’s EX hurricane is safe on block. Her only special move that’s worth anything out of a combo. And her crossups are basically just her picking what side she’ll be on after she launches you with her ex-hurricane. It’s some Marvel lite stuff basically, but if you guess right you can do whatever you want.
-Gen. I still don’t’ think people are playing Gen properly honestly. It’s going to be another year or two before a real Gen emerges to shock the world. Everything I’ve seen is just FADC shenanigans.
Very little usage of crane stance, his charge specials (particularly the roll punch which is a great EX) and two moves in particular while in Crane. Crouching LK should be breaking hearts at this point. It’s free super/ultra, or free reset shennaniang’s ala Dudley’s crouching RH.
Jumping MK is the best cross up normal in the game…and links to good combo’s that allow you to switch styles mid combo…but the execution is very, very tough.
Keep playing Carter cause he’s evolving his Gen…but I haven’t seen enough from any particular Gen player for it to be a hassle that you can’t learn the matchup from Carter.
-Ken, EX Shoryu/FP Shoryu are too good and can be FADC’d…(I think). Also he has a great kara throw and kara tatsu’s apparently. I don’t think you should worry too much about this one though. He’s not nearly as free as Rufus because his Ultra damage sucks off links. Wouldn’t so much call him Rufus lite, as I’d call him a crappy mix of Akuma’s mobility and Ryu’s damage/mixup.
After watching a few EC Ken vids, it looks like they do a few links into EX-Hurricane, and then apparently there is a guessing game you have to play at that point. They can either: A. Do more link combos (guess high/low) or B. Throw. Which really when you think about it, just block, I’d rather eat a throw vs. the potential stun/damage from his combos. His Kara throw works in with his f + mk and his cr. mk, so be aware.
I don’t think we’ve seen everything from Gen players, BUT, I will say I’ve noticed a trend with the Lighting Legs style characters. That seems to be their most damaging and mix-up intensive move (I forgot Honda in that list too, he can FADC HH slaps, pretty sure Chun can too). I’m pretty sure I told everyone about that crazy Blanka in my pool at EVO who could do all kinds of electricity shenanigans.
Even with school starting this week for me, I’m going to try and get some serious SFIV and BB practice in.
I think something that’s been working for me, as far as matchup experience, is taking time out to have random character select battles for a few sets. It won’t teach advanced techs of course, but it will teach poke defense and what some simple bnb’s are for the characters. Then it’s back to serious Viper and Rachel games.
It’s like cramming before the test, lol. Hopefully we can all get together once a week in the lead up to SB4. I’m looking forward to lots of casuals at the AL ranbats in the next few weeks.
Games are going down for sure on Thursday:
Going:
Me (SF4)
Mow (BlazBlue)
Tuna (BlazBlue)
BlueNu (SF4, BlazBlue) coming after 9:30
Post if you’re interested. Remember that it’s $5 a head unless we get over 10, which then becomes $4.
Yeb and Jibbo are doing their thing. Yeb was shitting all on people in the Westcoast Warzone Stream.

Bobby and Todd. Dayton Mall (lol) Mahvel players. The best in the area besides Chris Rose.
They dropped MvC2 because of lack of competition and switched to a game with less.
3rd Strike doesn’t have less competition than Marvel. Especially in Dayton.
Happy birthday to me.
