The counter is very dependant on timing. I’ve been trying to execute the counter against different characters and it pretty hard to nail it perfectly.
the timing in this is soooo tight, that I’m not even going to bother dashing under the fireballs!

My (very scrubby) impressions of the counter is that the problem is that it has a bit of startup. But the window where it actually counters is pretty big.
Just beware of things like Sagat hitting you with another fireball, or Akuma tricking you with a fireball and catching you in the dash with the Shun Goku Satsu (:bluu:)

this has happened a lot to me if you use f.mk or s.hk and maybe another normal
while the opponent is crouching or doing a move that advances them forward
you switch spots and both moves whiff
I haven’t taken advantage of this yet and don’t know if it’s character specific
but I would assume if juri’s recovery is greater she should be able to punish
the ex counter can work almost in same speed as parry and if u go up,can land an ex dive kick,wich results on ultra
Do you have an example? I’m assuming like Abel’s COD or something.
She actually has lots of ways to deal with projectiles. She can dash under, she can use her qcb+p counter, she can use her own fireball, she can kick the projectile outta the air while stocking a fireball of her own with qcf+k.

It wasn’t abel though because I’ve yet to face him, only played against new characters but I’ll try it out

on cody it works with his c.mk, ruffian kick(lkversion), zonk knuckle
on guy it works on his c.hk, run shadow kick (mk), hozanto (shoulder move)
and I think c.mk
She can also dash under Cody’s knife. I don’t know about his rocks, but I’m assuming that she can’t go under them very well, if at all, because each strength has a different arc.
The problem with using her own fireball against a projectile is that the ‘kick’ she does before shooting it out delays it. I’ve had Kens throw fireballs from across the screen, and there’s a delay with doing Juri’s to counter it. Maybe if you’re quick enough you can do it, but it’s tough UNLESS you already have one stored up.
As for dashing, I’ll try it when I’m home. The timing looks a bit tedious though.
QCB + P is something that completely slipped my mind! I gotta use that. I’ve also used dive kicks to get closer to my opponent, but if it’s a Ken, Ryu, or Deejay for example, they can punish you for getting to close.
Had the exact scenario you described (with Akuma) happen to me yesterday lol. I’m guessing it happened to you too?

Wow, that’s interesting. Timing is a bit tricky but this information can definitely come in handy when you can’t afford to lose any more health and to avoid getting hit by possible anti-airs.
Juri can also dash under Akuma’s Shakunetsu Hadoken in addition to his normal Gohadoken. I’ve tested it and she can dash under all versions of Shakunetsu.
After some more testing, I’ve found out that Juri can dash under any version of Akuma’s Tatsumaki Zankukyaku at anytime, also during the start-up but the timing is tricky (of course). Sometimes she will dash under and get kicked in the back if not timed properly. So knowing this, I’m assuming she can probably dash under Ryu, Ken and Akuma’s Tatsu.
yeah lol this is gonna open up a lot of approach ideas for juri players.
this needs to be posted as often as possible and committed to memory by anyone taking juri as a serious main. the timing on using her pre-fireball kick is just about as precise as dashing under a fireball and almost more effective because you’re storing a fireball in the process. storing fireballs and using your free fingers to qcb+p counter is awesome.
edit: while we’re talking about fireballs…I think, and I mean think as in I want to say this is true but it’s been a while since I’ve played and I can’t verify it myself at the moment…but I think Juri can completely shut down DeeJay’s EX fireball with her own mk fireball. you time it so you kick the first fireball as you prep your own, then the second projectile gets hit by your actual fireball coming out. since you can’t dash under DeeJay’s EX fireball (because there are two lol) this is good to know for anyone trying to escape multiple projectiles. (Dunno if this works for Seth – doesn’t he have a double sonic boom? Again, rusty, etc.)
I swear I think I did this during casuals with a friend that’s learning DeeJay, we just kinda stopped everything and I was like “yo throw some EXes” and then that happened. good times.
Yeah I bealive this is one of the greatest thing she has going for her. The reason been that it shuts down fb spamers turtle game plus the countless mix up u can do for ex: Akuma trows haduoken
a) u dash under it
b) qcf k(store fb)
Akuma will trow another fb
a) dash under it
b) trow storage fb
Akuma will Jump back with fb
a) use special counter to dash
b) trow storage fb
This will probably leave u close to Akuma so either u trow him or go for a combo.
Anyway the point is u can cancel Akuma fb game

The timing is pretty tight. It’s like, RIGHT before it’s about to reach her hand. Eventually you kinda get a feel for it. I stopped trying because I realized how inconsistant I am with it.
