Darkstalkers/Vampire series General Discussion

Throw invulnerability after hitstun/wakeup/reset was greatly decreased in VS2/VH2, making tick throws and such much stronger.

loss of dash links. for everyone I think?

Can someone explain to me where it’s staated that Jedah was defeated by Morrigan?

Here’s a video showing some infinites for Felicia, Rikuo and Bishamon in the first game. Felicia’s and Bishamon’s are made possible by the fact that the first game has a glitch much like that of SF3’s Gill by which a character in a knockdown state can be put into a standing hitstun state if attacked at the exact moment they touch the ground.

Ono’s twitter:

I have been doing a lot of thinking about DS… Wait till next time… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: RT @ComradeHurrrrr: More tweets about Darkstalkers tonight, :3?

Ono, you troll you.

I don’t think it ever was.

Another infinites video, this time for Night Warriors/Vampire Hunter. I’ll explain what’s going on with some of them:

The Demitri ES Chaos Flare and Huitzil Final Guardian loops only work on Raptor, because for some reason his juggle limit check gets messed up when he’s hit by a multi-hit burn move while in midair.
Rikuo’s Sonic Wave loop only works on Hsien-Ko, probably because of her wide hitbox.
Rikuo’s dash loop works like this: His back dash is considered a special move because of the Trick Fish anti-air that he can perform during it. This means that you can cancel his normals into a back dash. Furthermore, you can actually kara cancel the back dash into a forward dash, meaning you can essentially cancel a normal into a forward dash.

The dark undertone of DS always scared Me but I like the games

Hey Guys,

What game do you consider to be tourney standard? VS1 or VS2? Which game has grown on a more competitive level? I’ve got a couple friends who want to get into this game beyond a few casuals and a good starting point would be nice.

Simple answer Vsav 1.

Long answer why Vsav 2 didn’t catch on. Neo G (yes the same Neo G that was the planner of MvC3 and MvC2). Decided to take out air chains, dash links, make every Dark force the same damn thing. Some characters got their dark forces returned as a super. Thus making most characters lose their old play styles and tactics completely. And taking out characters (only the sprites) in order to have three returning characters (only Phobos is canon). Also, Negating the fact that Savior took place quite a bit after Hunter. Anita is a teenager and Donovan is dead (Dee was just a cameo in Anita’s Ending).

Some UFGT10 Vampire Savior matches. High level Vsav play is so hype! That Felicia combo. I thought this was Mahvel for a second there lol. And that Q-Bee vs Sasquatch match, so good. And there’s even a female player here.

This should be the official Darkstalkers theme or used for a trailer.

Thanks for the videos, BB_Hoody. I’ll definitely take a look at them!

Oh they’re not my vids I just pasted them here. All credit goes to the guy who runs the Youtube channel.

I’ve never seen an Anakaris win much of anything in Japan. Not sure if Mighty Mar is an anomaly or comp in the US just sucks dick. The character is fun as hell, but he is total shit. His design is gangsta AF, too. But you have to be a “G” IRL to use him.

Well Anak is bad but not too bad. IMO What allows every character to compete in this game, even Anak is the emphasis on offense in this game. Every character even Anak has threatening offensive abilities. Sure Anak’s def is ass, but if you can stay on offensive Anak can wreck opponents with his high/lows, anti air chop to keep pressure and command grab.

Unlike say Hsein-Ko in UMVC3 who lacks effective offensive tools and does piss poor damage on top of that. making her not worth using. As for the skill lv of U.S. players. Some played with Haitani and Sako. I think Mighty Mar is just that good.

yeah, he was always focused. didnt even twitch, as opposed to his opponents and all other players!
