It really annoys me Capcom let that statement about DS sales fly. I mean stuff like that never helps. Aside from all the usual stigma about these “HD releases” like they die in a week ect. Them basically telling people who were on the fence that there is no point like that just straight up turned me off to the idea of buying this thing.
I was planning on grabbing it after finals when I have time to actually enjoy it for a few weeks uninterrupted and theres that in my face. Like… if they don’t think I should, I can just go back to ggpo or something.
It’s a great game, in fact, it’s pretty much the best rerelease Capcom has put out this gen, for a fighter anyway.
The problem I have with Capcom is, they pretend like they don’t know why all of their fighters beyond the 1st MVC3 fail to meet their expectations. I also feel like you’re right about Sven’s recent statements being a tad bit unwise, like he’s trying to browbeat players into a purchase when really, a statement like that is more likely going to backfire.
Darkstalkers not being more popular is Capcom’s fault when games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlu can exist and do well. I mean granted the mechanics and what not are a little dated when compared to those newer games but if Capcom would just make a new game and position it as their “other” fighter next to Street Fighters and Versus games I think it would do well. Darkstalkers and those other freaky fighters like GG and BB and Skullgirls have weirdness and great animations in common. It’s really just the gameplay and the lack of exposure. I mean if Capcom isn’t about to jump all over making a SFV (I don’t think I’ve heard anyone asking for one yet) I think their next fighter needs to be Darkstalkers 4 and let that lead into SFV and culminate things into another Versus type of game. (meanwhile I’d like to see Capcom handle an Anarchy Reigns esque fighter to push the genre in a different direction.) What do I know though? I’m just a lowly Darkstalkers fan.
$15 is a fine price for what you get. I don’t see how that’s an issue. Though real talk I would have preferred a port of Chronicle (weren’t all the ports in that arcade perfect as well?) since you get such a complete package.
Front Page is a hotmess same with eventhubs and many other news outlets my god.
No Chronicles is not a good port it is its own game. It plays very similar to a previous game vampire savior 2, which is not a very well liked game due to engine nerfs they did to arcade savior.
You can’t do dash link combos. Things that happen in chronicle don’t go back to their original version. Bishamon for example, is not supposed to be able to combo off of his normal fireball in vampire savior yet he can in chronicle. Whats funny about this is that you can’t combo into his es fireball in chronicle which is strange as hell. Messed up glitches https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_l_e2G9Las. Lots of problems with the game to use it to emulate arcade perfect Vampire Savior.
Chronicle is the inaccurate, Hyper SF2-esque mashup that was released on the Dreamcast and PSP. Darkstalkers Collection is the one released on PS2 that has separate and accurate ports.
Supposedly the PS1 Darkstalkers 1 port had a troubled development process, which would explain why it took so long to come out. It was the first attempt at bringing one of the new, state of the art CPS2 fighters to a home console, but of course the PS1 just couldn’t handle it without lots of sacrifices being made. It was also outsourced to another company rather than being ported by Capcom themselves, which probably made things even more complicated. This trouble in porting it might have been what made Capcom switch to the Saturn for the port of Hunter, but the fact that the Saturn wasn’t selling well outside of Japan meant that later Saturn ports such as those of Vampire Savior didn’t get localized.
Journey is a more than 1 year old game, for Darkstalkers Resurrection to not outsell it is something to be ashamed about. And the game didn’t even crack top 20 at the XBL Arcade Titles.
What went into the patch besides fight requests? All that arcade cabinet art and whatnot? If they can easily put fight requests into DS why couldn’t they do it with MvC Origins or 3S?
Lol @ people trying to say Sven is being a dick when he just laid it out honestly.
He said the sales are lower than expected. He expected more because of the number of and frequency of request and the game is their best effort among their HD rereleases.
if you got he’s trying to attack you or guilt trip you and make you feel bad for not buying it, you might have a problem.
Bishamon’s ES Kirisute Gomen doesn’t use up any meter
Gallon’s ES wild circular will use up all levels of meter
Felicia’s ES hell cat will use up all levels of meter
Aulbath’s ES Crystal Lanser will use up all levels of meter
Aulbath’s ES Sky Neptune will use up all levels of meter
Pyron’s ES Planet Burning will use up all levels of meter
Phobos/Huizil jumping MP knocks down grounded opponents. (I dont see what’s wrong with this, Sasquatch’s j. HP does the same, and such an attribute is not uncommon, just rare)
I confirmed all of these are in Hunter for DSR. Arcade perfect to a tee, but dont ya think CAPCOM should address these original bugs as well?
