Well, I don’t care for Hunter, so I guess that makes sense now since I play Anakaris.
The worst part of playing Anakaris as your main is that he RUINS your fundamentals. You do not learn pushblocking or throw OS, and develop a nasty habit of backdashing into the corner. As you can imagine, literally every single character that isn’t Anakaris is gimped with that mindset.
But Anakaris gets more supers and a guard cancel in Savior. Sure he got a few nerfs from Hunter, but still.
Anakaris did not get a guard cancel in Savior. There is no way that … thing is seriously a guard cancel. He is throwable ON HIT. Don’t use it. EVER!
What supers did he really get? His levels 2 and 3 are ass and not very useful at all. If they were unblockable like his pillar, maybe, but it just seems like a waste of resources to me.

Anakris teaches you like the most important thing in Vsav. Good fundamental defense. pushblocking is a percentage. if you can’t defend yourself expect random hits. when you have hindsight 20/20 and you’ll see that anakaris teaches you more than you think.
Victor has a pushblock and he is still considered worse. no one in the game is mediocre really, just worst than everyone else in the game.
And demitri is annoying at first, but outside of srk and bite super, he truly isn’t that overpowering unless your fundamentals are shakey.
You have good normals some of the best in the Savior. For AA you got standing HP and Cobra Blow if they’re trying to make up ground. Also Standing MP if they’re trying to jump over you or going for deep in jump in. Which are better than Jedah’s AA options. Pretty much every single normal anak has is better than lilith when it comes to the neutral game.
It’s about being safe with Anak don’t going in guns blazing with the heavy attacks.
Also, Anak does have a GC but it’s bugged where it doesn’t add time to the curse timer.
The only part of Push block that is actually random is the amount of inputs need to do it.
While I have learned a lot about defense from him, it feels out of place in Savior. If this was SF4, or even Hunter, his defense-oriented gameplan would fit right in. But here, he’s the only defensive character in a land of Gallons, Sasquatches, and Q-Bees.
Who is considered worst, anyway? Most lists put Anakaris at the bottom, but I feel he’s a little better than Victor or Lilith. Victor is very one-dimensional and Lilith just feels like a gimped Morrigan, who is at the top of low tier herself.
Actually the match up chart that everyone uses as a tier list has Lilith even with Demitri.
But I’m not paying for any of the 3 DLC characters (they’re free for a limited time).
Also, in the context of this game, I wouldn’t want them to add anything as (barring a few issues that re being patched for free) the games are basically arcade perfect, which is all that matters.
Not while Mar gives all Anakaris players hope.
Does anyone know where to find top notch Anakaris footage? I can’t seem to find too much for him due to a lack of representation. :-?
You know that they are not free, they are “free” only because they are going with the whole crowd funding in order to make them happen, otherwise they will be like any other DLC char if done the regular route of going through an investor etc, etc, hell, they already cost more for certain people who donated more than their final consumer price. Also they will be sold regularly after the whole grace period is done, don’t try to twist it just because is SG.
DLC chars are a good thing (when done right of course, like BB/MK/SF4, nothing like the stupid crap of SFxT), and people should be paid for their work, expecting them to be free is stupid period, and yeah i consider all the people who are against the DLC characters to be stupid too, especially if they think that they should be free.
In the context of this game there is no much room for descent DLC anyway

I’d say SFIV did it right in that they were part of a bigger update for a newer version of the game (i.e. like going from HF to ST). And yes, Skullgirls’ DLC will also likely come with big game changing updates. For one, the updated game might be gaining new mechanics such as undizzies (already being tested by Mike).
I like the port, Iron Galaxy learned from their mistakes on 3S.

The whole thing of getting a match online is, at last, logical
The connection felt solid, even as I played a few high pings it didn’t feel as bad as 3S could be, but comparison is difficult since both games are different and we didn’t have ping numbers to measure connection quality.
Even the visuals feel better :
you can turn off the annoying challenges on the side, and you can set your screen on 4:3 ratio via the xbox settings if you’re in 480p now (I don’t think you could when 3S was out, since I messed up with every possible setting then to get rid of the grey side bars and couldn’t)
I wonder if they changed their scanlines filter or if it looks better because most characters have cold skin colours (in 3S the red overbleed is really killing some sprites, e.g. oro Mp on alex stage) or maybe it’s the smaller res ?
Plus they announced that they’ll add something to let you play arcade mode or training while waiting to be challenged, which is exactly what these games need. Great !
The vault and main screen is still filled with artgem art but since you can get rid of it on select screen and overall in game… that’s fine by me.
Now I just want my 3S patch…

Screw DLC characters, if a game is being played online everyone should be on the same playing field at the same entry fee of the game itself and if it’s being played offline a simple disk with everything on it is a lot easier to deal with than having to lug a whole console to a place which already has that console because someone plays a DLC character.
Darkstalkers Ressurection did it right in keeping that stuff to aesthetics only.
