You forgot to add that he has a trenchcoat as well.
And a white spikey anime haircut and a stereotypical douchebag āI dont give a shitā attitude.
Yup. He pretty much has all the shit to make for a character popular among the masses. I donāt care though, Iām playing him cause I loved playing him in DMC3:SE. Hopefully he doesnāt fuck up team chemistry for a bunch of characters.
I donāt think vergils gonna be as derp as everyone thinks, peeps forget his berserker slash only has one strength, so it can only ever cross up, youāll actually need to learn how to space it so its either a cross up or not(unlike wolvie who just throws it out whenever he feels). Plus he still looks pretty darn meter dependent. The final combo wouldnāt have killed IF had he not x-factored because of DT, them little things can be the big difference.
He just seems like the easiest to pick up of all the new cast but that doesnāt necessarily translate to top tier. I do think he will probably be pretty good, but ill be surprised if he is as good as his brother. Ill definitely give him some play though, see what I can develop.
Assist + teleport = insta durp as with most of the cast with ports or command dash any way.
Rapid slash just sounds more like move to bulldog yourself in with than rely on the cross up.
Vergil has what he needs to be top tier with or without the meter IMO. Heās just going to be even better with the meter.
Iām seeing him standing at the same spot as Trish imo. Iām still rocking team DMC regardless of where he lands in the tier list.
I guess we will see, Im not one for arguing about a character I havenāt played yet.
He has the derp combination of a ballsload of characters. Its almost like Capcom said āwhat if we just mixe a bunch of characters derpy shit into one derpy salad⦠we will get Vergilā.
And learning how to āspaceā Zerker slash is so easy. I wouldnāt even call it spacing.
If rapid slash has invince on point like people have saidā¦heāll definitely be adding that to his list of safe get in options. Luckily it looks like he can only cancel it into super or XF on hit and with the XF tone downs I doubt heās going to be doing any Vanilla Wolvie worthy shit with it.
I think his āair to airā game or lack of is what going to keep him out of top tier spot (but still very high A tier) in the long run. I mean his brother has good control over the air and ground with all of his tools while Vergil seems to be able to do what ever his want on the ground but feels pretty limited in the air. Just my opinion.
Also, how much health does Iron Fist have, 850 to 900? If so, it looks like at least Vergil will match his brother in the damage department.
I felt the exact same way about dudley in SF4(90 percent of the SF 4 community felt that way), until the game actually came out and then his weaknesses showed themselves. You never know, he might be the best, he might be mid-tier(one thing we can all agree on is he isnāt gonna be ass tier, not even I can dispute that) but the characters true weaknesses donāt show themselves proper till your playing the character in a competitive setting.
Im not trying to be a buzzkill, and it feels like Im sucking the hype out of this thread so ill just drop the topic I just felt peeps might have been getting a little too excited over him.
He does look pretty sick though, Im hyped to see what applications people can come up with for his sword hyper. Max kicked ass in that vid and he barely ever used it, itāll be pretty sick if vergil players split with some people favoring using their meter more for the sword while others favoring devil trigger.
Being realistic is different from being pessimistic, so I donāt see you as a buzz kill, since the hype and hate around him is obnoxiously high for a character who had a limited amount of people able to play him in a ānon-competitiveā setting. Only time will tell where he will stand, if Capcom allows that time to play out that isā¦
The difference is in SFIV the characters arenāt made to be powerful and capable of multiple archetypes like in MVC3. Any character that can close the gap quickly and has a good mix of offense and defense is a pretty sure set for high tier in MVC3. In SFIV you have characters that are stuck to certain archetypes (close range rush, fireball spacing/poking, grappler/anti rushdown) and it leads to a lot of things where the character is solid against one character but SOL against another. In MVC3 the right assist can cover some of the holes in a point characterās offense and the characters in general have way off the wall sets of normals and specials that allow them to control a lot more of the game than the average SFIV character.
I was one of the people that knew early on before the game came out that Dudley wouldnāt have what it took to be top tier. He had really short footsies in a game where short footsies just canāt cut it. Plus they nerfed the shit out of all of his special moves that he needed to make up for his footsies and is generally less scary with things like invincible backdashes in the game.
I dunno, his airthrow game gets him some easy combos after, and his air normals seem to have massive range that can convert into Starfall for a ground bounce. Sure he lacks air mobility, but his air normals look very legit. If Rising Sun has invincibility on point it will make a very good anti-air also.
DJ knows everything. Never forget that guys
Honestly if you have a beam assist or something to cover Vergil during Rapid slash, itās a free get in card like with Viper and EX Thunder knuckle.
People are going to hate this dude probably more than Dante in the upcoming months.
You donāt really need a beam assist. Round Trip can act as a cover itself.
Lol i remember like the day after Dudley was revealed for super people were screaming broken and he already needed nerfs. Most of the reasoning was just because he could combo off his overhead.
thats the sf4 community for you.
Whatever Tier Vergil gets placed later down the road I plan to master him. I mained X-23 in Vanilla so no matter what his flaws will be, Iām sure heāll have more potential than she did. And Dudleyās flaws didnāt stop Marn from using him and still find a way to kick everyoneās ass.
Devil Trigger will pretty much give him whatever air game he is lacking unless somehow a character with huged ranged sword normals ends up having really bad air normals? That would be new for this gameā¦
With my first Vergil team I kinda just have him as a point character doing standard shit to build meter for Strange and Strider. With my second team I already got some things I wanna do like start of the round sword super and then build meter with harmonizer assist in the middle while Iām landing trying to land hits. Then call Doom assist for another left/right and just switch up the assist so I can have enough meter to go into devil trigger + swords really fast.
