It doesn’t happen in a game, it’s represented in the comics.
This thread make me really curious of how Go Hibiki’s style of fighting would look in a game.
Sad we know he won’t be the 5th now.
The fact that Street Fighter managed to keep the feeling of “every style of fighting from all over the world meet” is really something that make me like the lore of the game. sf3 was a bit awkward in that regard, but with Juri, Abel and Hakan, SF4 really got back to that.
Wow I didn’t even see the dan kicks and tiger knees. None of these even crossed my mind until now. I always liked the way Dan’s moves looked in this game though. Good stuff!
It does happen in the game. In Alpha 2.
And bro, let me tell you something.
This shit right here is CANON! Dan just gave Sagat a Saikyo-Ryu wooping! Well, even tho sagat actually intentionally gave up the fight since he regretted the horrible stuff he have done and hoped that Dan wouldn’t become like him. Sagat’s plan worked and Dan didn’t become a hate filled monster. The victory went straight up to his head instead.
Here’s his Alpha 3 story line.
Which, as you see, is freaking badass.
EDIT: Also. Go Hibiki’s fighting style won’t be at all like Saikyo-Ryu, since it wasn’t invented then. It’s possible there’s some similarities between moves, but Go Hibiki was a MMA fighter in the canon.
If I remember correctly, Dan’s father did teach him, but he was godawful at it. So his crude basis is his father’s style, with a mere smidge of ansatsuken (aka shotokan though it’s as much shotokan as it is ping pong) and yeah, muay thai.
I don’t think Go Hibiki was a muay thai fighter though…
And Kyokugen Karate was a rip-off the Shotokan Karate from Street Fighter. Capcom made Dan to be a parody of them to pretty much say “Haha SNK! This is what you look like!”
Dan’s Dragon Punch, Tatsu, projectiles, taunts and some other moves are actually taken from the Kyokugen style, as pointed, but it would be very funny if Dan suddenly realized that they look so much like Sagat’s. XD
His special moves are kyokugen based yes his ex Danku is like Roberts in a couple of kof and gadoken is one handed and haoh gadoken is a haoh shokoken and he taunts like yuri sakazaki etc ut those aren’t the moves brought up here, which are muay thai based
it is also funny to see after some searching that the name dan (short for Danial or Danny) is actually very common among muay thai fighters in real life.
