Thats the point of an FADC, pretty much. You FADC your uppercut, and if it hits then you tack on some extra damage. If its blocked, then you’re safe and you can be gutsy and go for a grab/frametrap/psychic koryu/backdash to safety.
With Gadou FADC, its mostly used to extend combos.
Bison uses FADC as well. He can FADC scissors to add damge onto combos/make hk scissors safe, or he can FADC EX Psycho if the opponent can punish it. I think mostly everyone uses FADC in some way.
The only character I can think of off the top of my head who never FADCs is T.Hawk. I’m admittedly not as polished on FADCs as I should be, but I still try them like a champ when I can if only for the safety aspect. You should really sit in Training Mode and work at it until you can at least use them for that.
You really gotta get fadc down, it’s way too important for Dan to not use. Safety on dragon punches is huge, as is the difference between a combo doing 225 damage and 350-400 damage. If you get a hit confirm close hk in this game, don’t just link dragon punch or even cr mp xx dragon punch, link to cr mp xx fb fadc close hk to dp or close mp to hk danku. There are also some fun tricks on block! There’s a range where after button xx hp fireball fadc toward the hp fireball will touch the opponent and you can either build frame traps or block reversals, but after button xx lp fireball fadc toward the fireball won’t touch the opponent and you can throw instead. Dan is fun.
Yeah I figure my new hit confirm AND punish combo (and it’s pretty rad that it’s the same combo for both, most characters aren’t like that) will be close hk, cr mp xx fb fadc close hk, close mp xx hk danku for 400 damage and 680 stun. Then if you get a single combo after that, just close hk link cr mp xx hp dragon punch, that’s another 282 damage and 460 stun. Or even if it’s just crossup jump mk close mp link hp dragon punch, that’s 247 damage and 360 stun. After 1140 or 1040 stun, most characters are dizzy. After a 3 hit combo that stuns, Dan can then do jump hk close hk link cr mp xx hp dp for another 221 damage. Essentially Dan can very practically stun in 2 combos and take off 903 damage on most characters.
And note that he can do all of that already. In fact if you end that first combo with close hk to cr mp xx hp dp, you actually do MORE damage and stun. The only buffs for 2012 here are that you can end the first combo with close mp xx hk danku for better positioning and more meter built for almost the same damage and stun, and that close hk to cr mp xx hp dp presumably works on everyone.
fair bit beyond what i can do at this stage barely can only combo crouching heavy and lk heavy atm. It’s a work in progress for me I dont get this stuff over night already taken me a fair while to actually use focus attack.
IN the light of Gouken’s huge buffs Im going to go ahead and say GTFO Capcom more Dan buffs, sure alot more technical combos are availble none of which I’ll ever be able to do how about I dunno, speed on Dan kicks, and recovery and air dankicks, the medium sucks the sausage anyway it’s a good day if you get 40 damage from it. Dan kicks got to start coming out at Sagot speed… bit slower, hope there is more buffs. although I doubt it.

Yeah Im gonna go ahead and say one frame on a medium punch and a couple of new unpractical combos is not even close to cutting the mustard **THERE BETTER BE MORE **compared to the other under-powered characters in AE such as Gouken/Gen/Hakan we are getting absolutely peanuts, hope there is more. LOOK AT HAKAN’S CHANGES FFS, look at Gouken’s. I mad.
Your favourite combo might be corner only, Dan’s normals don’t have much range to get the close versions
Concerning my meter use, I whore the shit out of KRK FADC :razzy: I’m also not very good with linking a normal after Gadouken FADC, especially s.HK, that shit is tight
That combo already works as long as you do close hk to cr mp xx hp dp after the fadc instead of close hk to close mp xx hk danku. The problem is that it doesn’t work on everyone and doesn’t give you as good positioning or meter as the hk danku finisher, so getting that on everyone in addition to better positioning and more meter will be pretty sweet.
im not exactly a dan main like you guys … but i love dan and was curious what they would give him …
of all changes i was hoping he would get a 3 frame jab (apart from his useless cl.LP) … but looking at the changes now … i think hes gonna be alot of fun …
im glad the sweep is a bit faster … lol
and im deffinately looking forward to his (less pushback) cl.HK … should do wonders …
but best of all the fact that he can now taunt and you have an excuse to say … IM NOT TROLLING IM BUILDING METER!! LOL !!

after HK dankukyaku i go for cr.taunt … its safe mid screen ! LOL … plus drives them mad …it would be awesome as a viable tactic to build meter now ! LOL
Well that’s funny, doing s.HK > c.MP xx Gadouken FADC > s.HK is always far s.HK unless in corner. Point blank normal xx Gadouken FADC xx s.HK is always in range for close s.HK so with if s.MP xx Gadouken is possible then s.HK should hopefully be within close range.

lol the buff would be nice is crouching medium punch or medium kick into a hk danku. why didnt capcom think of that? that would be my favorite bread and butter. still dont know if medium punch is fast enough to connect hk danku. say your prayers!
s.MP (close) is going from 6 to 5 frame start-up to match c.MP, allowing for s.HK > s.MP xx HK Dankuu as a 2-frame link.
Mid-December is when the update will happen, can’t remember the exact date.
So Air EX Dankuu hits fully in the air now and has increased damage, making KRK FADC > Air EX Dankuu a nice (but expensive) combo. That’s pretty much the only thing we didn’t know/wasn’t sure about.
Still was kind of hoping for hard knockdown on EX Danku and some LK.Danku hitbox changes. I’ll take what I can get. The cl.MP buff and Air EX Danku height restriction changes are what I’m excited for.
