In that case, I’m going to need to spend some time in training mode FADing projectiles as I sometimes release it to early and just leave myself open. I’ll also need to work on my combos as I always mess up chaining normals to specials. Thanks!
yeah it can be annoying. jumping can work up close if you cross your opponent up but Dan’s jump is so floaty he just gets dragon punched like nobody’s business.
I like the way you think sir.
Umm… you can’t “chain” normals into specials, you have to “link” them. Think you’re just talking about cancelling a single normal into a special since Dan doesn’t really have any links
Whoring myself out here but whatever, checkout my video ~> :bgrin:
There’s another one for intermediate combos too :tup:
Found out yesterday that Dan’s Ultra I doesn’t beat either of Cody’s Ultras when executed as a response. What’s so special about Cody?
Also, having trouble with a few utlras, mainly Hakan’s I and II, Gouki’s II, and Abel’s II. What are the safe options for blocking, punishing?
Haven’t tried to U1 Cody’s yet so I can’t help you there.
Hakan’s Ultra I: Grab, just avoid being up close (don’t HK danku)
" Ultra II: Don’t do anything. Just back away and Ultra when he finishes.
Gouki’s Ultra II: Duck.
Abel’s Ultra II: mk or hk danku will break it.
Cody’s vulnerable enough to punish with your own Ultra on block anyways.
Sweet, thanks.
I took about a 4-month break from playing SFIV, and just got re-hooked on SSFIV. All Dan, all the time. Not great, but it’s just fun. The first Sagat I played online rage quit after I perfected him on the first round. That felt really good.
He is? Cool, thanks.
Yeah, his Ultra I is Frame-0, methinks. If you aren’t in an ungrabbable state when his Ultra starts up, you’ve been caught. Dashing backwards, jumping (Neutral jump for a big punish as you come down) or Koryuken FADCing preemptively should work.
Doesn’t his Ultra II only have an aerial hitbox? If that’s the case, just walk up and smack him with a cr.HP xx HK.Danku. <_<
Yeah as a student of the oily arts I can tell you his Ultra 1 (Oil Coaster) is a 1+0 so if you haven’t jumped, dashed backwards or done something with invulnerability (e.g. Kouryuken) then you’re screwed. The invulnerability on his Ultra 2 (Oil Combination Hold) is quite long so if you’re early you’ll miss the c.HP, just don’t try catching it with Dankuu or Kouryuken as you’ll get snagged, don’t even jump away or back dash! Anything where you’re considered airborne within his huge range will be caught.
Yeah, this makes sense. For awhile I thought it was like some kind of defensive ultra or something.
for abel’s ultra 2, since its a grab you cannot block it, so if your not in range to jump over him, jump back and dash back until their ultra lunges towards you, once that happens you can punish with your own ultra.
also, something new i’ve discovered, and dont know if it has been discussed yet, but i found out that against E. Honda you can crouch taunt his butt slam. and his headbutt will trade with the crouch taunt. the crouching taunt will also cancel T. Hawk’s air hawk attack.
Any tips for beating SSF4 Guile and Boxer?
Patience
;.;
It’s hard to be patient when the Guile player rushes at you with LPs and LKs, and when it’s Boxer whether to block high or low becomes mind boggling ;.;
corner them then play the rush down game, its safe until they get EX bars the you gotta be careful of random headbutt and flashkicks
Haha I’m glad I’m not the only one who likes to taunt over fireballs, especially those Akuma air-balls. With a Boxer, I try to be as unpredicable as possible with varying crossovers, high/low combos, and then running away to taunt. If you can make them play your game, rather then you playing theirs. That’s when you win as Dan.
A knockdown on Boxer means huge potential for Dan to mix it up. Instead of starting with LK.Danku pressure, start with meaty cr.MK xx HP.Gadouken. Once the Boxer finds out his headbutt attempts are getting stuffed, start laying on the meaty LK.Danku to break through the inevitable EX Dash Punches. Apply cross-up pressure and the occasional throw to mess him up.
Anyone notice that any character with a good normal poke game will beat out like 80% of our offence ? I have been haveing a really hard time with Chun/Sakura/Blanka
