But seriously, women have power fantasies too. And 50 Shades is an example of the female desire to be adored and worshiped. The sex stuff shouldn’t be mistaken as a man dominating a woman, more like a woman facing the taboo of sexual liberation. It’s not that she doesn’t read female representation in games (of which there is plenty, though that goes without saying to anybody remotely reasonable) it’s that she likely doesn’t play the games and instead relies on wiki descriptions or plot summaries. I’m sure people will go to her defense and say it isn’t bad to just read a plot summary, despite the money being for the exact opposite course of action, but it’s inherently bad to do that for a video game. Why? Because the most powerful aspect of video game story telling is that it’s interactive. Borderlands 2, despite not having an amazing story, had more to it than ‘this innocent girl begs you to kill her for little reason’. She not only helped you greatly, she betrayed you, then helped you again, saving your life many times. But tunnel vision, anti-sex feminists like Anita aren’t going to see it like that, they don’t see the importance in a female character, they only see the negatives.
So it leads to why people are so confused that people aren’t catering to this braindead demographic and it’s simple: because you can’t cater to something that isn’t happy with anything. Unless they strictly follow the example I made on the last page, they’re still going to get criticism and more than likely not make any more sales than they usually would. So what are these companies getting out of it? The satisfaction of doing something that is constantly done anyway? The title of ‘#1 Feminist Pandering Developer On The Market’? Catering to the worst facet of a gender (or a gender in general) is usually a big mistake, and despite people thinking anything that isn’t a Mary Sue Female Adventure is a sexist power fantasy, women can get the same enjoyment out of modern videogames as men can, especially if they have a larger mental capacity than a child and can do this fantastical thing called SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF.

You’d be amazed at how most women share the same mentality in the way that most men share the same mentality. It just has many different forms.
Also what all the idiots (females and feminized males alike) don’t understand is that art (painting, books, movies, videogames) is not meant to imitate real life, but to engulf you with an illusion of an imaginary world.
The whole point of action movies is to NOT have a hero that is a simple fragile human like in real life, but to present him as something better, more glorified, more badass than an actual human. An impossible man dealing with an impossible situation. The same concept goes all the way back to the epic greek poems. If action movies were 100% realistic they would not be fun to watch. And if you have a woman in that movie, why bother with a realistic average looking one when you can cast a super hot one? We know a small minority of women look like that but the whole point is getting the glorified imaginary version of everything, not the realistic one.
And if video games were realistic then they would be boring as shit, like all the German simulator games.
The thing about video games is that all the fun violence is virtual and no one really gets hurt, so it’s like eating candy and never getting fat. You’d think western society would be smart enough to realize how it serves their cultural interests, but they can’t think logically. Football – where people actually do get hurt because the players ram into each other, an act that could get you jailed if you were to do it outside of the football court – is accepted because it’s popular, and videogames – where no one got hurt from playing one – are hated on because they are not as popular. Not at all different from believing in Zeus being ridiculed as insanity but believing in god being ok. Same exact shit only that the latter is more popular, thus making it legit in society’s eyes. It’s that simple.

How can you derail the trainwreck I started? In all seriousness there isn’t much to derail as far as Anita’s work is concerned. Her work is poorly researched, thinly evidenced and overall presented in a very lazy manner. It is much closer to feminist readings of literary works than the pseudo indictment of video game insensibility she made it out to seem. Honestly, I could take all the games she has cited thus far and make a series of videos on how the video game industry is reinforcing stereotypes of men as heroes and how this affects the psyche of young players as they fail to live up to expectations. Niggas gonna be like “woah, we do we always have to be the one saving women? I just wanna play some hopscotch and do some hair.” I could add sections on how most men aren’t rewarded for intellectual work and that puzzles have gotten easier lately; implying that using brawn to solve problems is far more valuable than using brains.

A few days ago, I had to deal with one of those “feminized males” while I was playing Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. One of the sets that I like to wear is a cowgirl outfit. I love the way it looks and it has good stats on it. Hardly anyone makes a comment on it or gives a fuck for the matter about this set. Yet, I started playing and after we finished the quest, the dude complained that my armor was “disgustingly repulsive”. He said that the designers were nothing but pervy old men. I told him that design of the armor didn’t matter to me and I was perfectly fine. He went so far as to say, “What if I nuked Korea? Or Mars.” I was like, “Nuking =/= Game Design”. Like, seriously.
