If it came from me it was probably Cammy. I’ve always thought A-Eagle does great against her.

I just mean when he messes up the spacing for a jump in and is clearly going to land on the other side, and down fierce will whiff.
Vega’s tough, but I do relatively well with Eagle vs Vega given the players i’ve played. I’ve given Nestor’s vega a hard time. I give most of the vegas i play around here a hard time. And like i said, you don’t just go around whiffing shit against him, that’s obvious. Most of Eagle’s longer range pokes take forever to recover. The goal of the match is to land the first hit and turtle. Vega cant do much after that. Walk ups are dealt with low strong and forward and jump ins are dealt with low fierce.
Again, I’m not saying Eagle counters Vega, but i feel like it’s an easier matchup for him than most characters. I also think Yama does really well vs Vega. I’d rather use Yama or Eagle than Sak or Sagat vs A Vega, and that’s coming from someone who uses Sak and Sagat.
As a serious A Eagle user, I think that match is SO hard (P/K Cammy). Feel free to elaborate. Aside from Sagat, I’d say Cammy is probably his next worst matchup. Feels like everything he does gets stuffed by fierce and rh. You can try to bait the rh and punish with fierce, but that shit doesn’t work when she has meter. Just feels like a really bad match.
Thanks for the comments and opinions. I still want to use C-Eagle. His RC Spin (don t know the name) seems very good as anti air. And since I play againt lots of k-groover (happy jumping JD) its very useful.
Go training now.
As an ex-serious A-Eagle user, I have to cosign here. Vega hits Eagle up hard.
Cammy is a much easier fight. Low forward handles her ground game. Stand forward any drills. If she ever whiffs stand roundhouse, go take your 55-60%.
If she does happen to get in, it can get kinda rough, but I still think the fight’s in Eagle’s favor.
A VEGA is god. He can fight character.:looney:
If this game has a god, my money is on A Blanka… even I can win with him.
Hey all. I’m a long time 3S player who has recently decided to get into CVS2. I was reading through this forum and saw people talking about counter match ups and other things. So the team I decided on is C-Groove Guile-Chun-Sagat(2).
My question is does this team have a fairly good harmony? Is there any match ups that I would have a lot of difficulty with? Or just any other general advice for me?
I’ve been sitting on who to give ratio two to. I chose Sagat only on the basis that I’ve seen most players place him as their R2. However, I’m thinking of making my Guile R2 because he makes a good turtle and the extra ratio point would make every clean opening I get that much better.
Is my logic screwed up?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
reportedly Vega/Claw and Hibiki give that team a reall hard time. But yes that team flows well, it was the originator of the Guile/Ken/Sagat team used today.
On that team, you will want Sagat to have the R2, you will get more damage out of Sagat than Guile, and Guile makes a better Battery than Anchor IMHO.
You know about the Battery/User/Anchor setup right?
Well my friend I’d like to say that I do know of this set up but I’m 100% scrub when it comes to CVS2, so no. I know nothing of what you speak of.
Anyone care to enlighten me to what the “Battery/User/Anchor” strategy is?
And as always any other advice would be much apreciated. :lovin:

Battery/User/Anchor is a team order and character selection “process” when team building…blah blah blah
The idea here is to have a starting character who builds super meter without needing to use it: Battery. Then follow up with a character who uses that super meter to do good damage: User. Then finish the team off with a solid power house character, 99% of the time with an R2: Anchor.
If this seems familiar Marvel sometimes uses this system.
Basically if you are playing any groove besides K and S, you will want to build a team off this system. Since those 2 grooves are the only grooves in the game that don’t transfer meter between characters.
What’s nice is that your team, Guile/Chun/Sagat, already follows this setup. Guile makes a good battery, Chun is definately an User, and Sagat is an excellent Anchor.
Almost any character can be an Anchor, but usualy a character is either more of a battery or more of a user. This helps in figuring out the order. Too many batteries means your probably not using Super meter.
Anyway, I recommend trying Guile for a while, because he doesn’t work for everyone. Very few people play him at the top level, but that doesn’t mean he won’t work for you.
I run a team of Ryu,Chun Li, and (Random 3rd Person) Because I havent decided who I really want there yet, On P-Groove. I am a little above scrubish/amature for this game I would like any help I can get twards refining my team.
Cammy and Kyo are some of the best in P groove.
VSagat and Blanka are popular, and Vega is very solid as well.
Thanks Ill consider Kyo because I honestly would like to find a SNK character for my team. Any other recommendaions to other SNK characters that work with P-Groove?
almost any character works in any groove, but other than Kyo…
Maybe Geese, maybe Rock, I’ve seen P-Chang, I’d imagine P-Yama… etc. etc.
Great way of explaining it, i would rep you if i was premium, congrats!!
Ah, Now knowing this Ill take some time when I get the time that is to go through some SNK characters until I find one I can work with. Thanks again for the info.
Guile infuriates me. I’m currently trying to replace him. The main reason is the Blanka matchup. IMO, it’s much easier for quick chars like Vega and Blanka react to Guile’s gameplan better than Guile can react to theirs.
People say he’s great up front, but without meter, I find myself trading hits alot. I put him in the middle spot and try to punish laggy stuff with sonic hurricane. Hit confirm super and crossup roll super are good with guile, too.
In the front spot, you’ll need a character that comfortable a ton of match-ups, because there is the most flexibilty up front. When I started out with guile up front, I’d be losing round one (err, I mean “gaining knowledge”) for free =P
In the back spot, you’ll face common anchors, which is like 5-6 matcups. That sounds good but, these are usually top tier chars (like blanka) giving you a headache.
In a nutshell, I think new guiles should be in the middle or the back, so they have meter to work with (middle) or less match-ups to master (back).
That aside, you want chun in the middle, which makes sense. I’m just say that putting guile in front is a long hard road before you start to feel effective.
Thank you for all the advice guys. Now it’s just a matter of me working on it.
I think the easiest character to pick up for P-groove would be Cammy. Sagat and Vega would be a good 2nd choice. Once you become more familiar with the game, you can start using Kyo who’s a little bit harder to utilize, but very deadly in the right hands.
Vega (claw), Sakura, Hibiki, and Honda would probably give your team some trouble.
For the most part, your team does have good harmony. C-groove is the best groove for those 3 characters. I think the biggest trouble you’ll have is the 1st match-up as Guile has a lot of tough matches against most of the common characters people use up front (Vega, Sakura, Hibiki, Honda, Blanka). His level 3 Sonic Hurricane combos off his low-forward I do believe.
Chun-Li is reliant on level 2’s/level 1 supers so make sure you get that Cr-jab->cr-strong-> super link down. Tough matches vs Vega, Sakura and Hibiki.
Sagat is great as an anchor. He can do some miracle comebacks for you. Make sure your uppercut reaction is good. Know how to hit-confirm your standing/crouching fierces into supers. Get the standing jab-crouching forward into super link down. If you’re being pressured a lot by RC-electricity Blankas, don’t be afraid to use meter for an alpha-counter.
