I’m in and all past evo’s had macros for cvs2… so unless this is going to be a non legit side evo tourney I suggest we leave it to the player.
LOL, this is an illegitimate tournament.
I’m open to the idea of macros if that’s what the people want. Do you think macros give an unfair advantage? I’d like to hear some more opinions before setting the rule in stone.
Do you know how hard it is to RC on a pad if theres not a macro and your trying to hit a face button … I say for pad players yes at least and whoever complains is just scared of my pad skills :wgrin: .
Nah, it’s really easy to RC on pad if your button layout and finger positions are good. Seeing as I totally negate R1/R2, I use only the face buttons. IMO, it’s pretty hard to RC if you hold the controller like a normal controller but if you play arcade style with the face buttons, then RC’ing becomes much easier.
/ \ = LP
X = LK
[ ] = HP
O = HK
L2 = MP
L1 = MK
With this setup you can RC Fierce or Roundhouse versions of any move. Naturally, you’d want either HP or HK versions of moves since they give you the most invincibility (IIRC), so this layout happens to work out quite well.
I’m up for entering this. I haven’t played CvS2 in a long time but I miss this game.
Last time I did any competition, it was on a cab, so based on what I am seeing online, right before a match there is a button layout check, but I guess after that we just go or restart the match, or how does that work?
Sorry, I have never been in a console tournament and would rather know than sit there looking weird wondering what to do.
there are buttons checks. just start a match with random chars and check buttons. should be fairly quick.
Yes! I am in. Please pre-register me Mr. Warzard. I will bring my Perfect 360 MAS stick as well.

I hold the controller like your suppose to hold a controller hints I’m a pad player and use the big thumb lol… but I see what your saying but you might as well use stick then.
Awesome, norcal is in the building! Stop by for some casuals on Friday, it would be good to run it back from the time we played at NCR.
Since Airic is apparently the only person who cares about this, I’m ok with letting the macro issue being decided by the players (for pad players only - no macros for stick users). That is, if the opponent is ok with it, macros are allowed for pad players. If the opponent objects, then macros cannot be used. If anybody objects to this, post here before Thursday morning.
Almost time to hit the road! I hope to see you guys at the BYOC Friday/Saturday!
Ill be there a little before noon Fri. Hope there are still Byoc slots available to do another setup.
I should mention that I have a second pad I am willing to donate to the tournament. It is a 3rd party Hip Gear, but it works like a million bucks. I live in this town, so I have some extra stuff, like an extra pad, but not much in terms of ps2. I will see you guys around noonish or 1-ish.
Why is this called the Gene Wong fundraiser…
Anyway good luck with the logistics. Will be watching the stream
That’s a joke, but gene is the undefeated champ of this event the last two years running. Can anybody defeat this man???
If you want to reserve your spot in the bracket, post here in the next hour, i wont be checking after 12:15. See you guys at 1:30!
That was really fun to be able to play along-side you guys. I am not naive and now know where my abilities in the game lie. I am not bad at the game by any means, but I am nowhere near the level of playing in tournaments. Oh well. It was still really fun to be able to see some of you in action (and get beat by some of the best). It was worth it and I would happily let you guys take me to school again
Nice playing you segaages. Read strategy, watch videos, get in sessions. As long as u can keep mproving, it is worth it to play in tournaments. Hope to see u next year.
Thanks to everyone that showed up! We had some stream issues at first (swear I step off and it goes on fire), but we fixed it on the second half. Thanks for tuning in and participating, I hope to stream more cvs2 some day and better and better.
We got some heavy hitters this year with Kindevu, Buktooth, Gene Wong, VDO and others man. Met so many interesting people as well. <3 evo
Rankings:
1st: Buktooth
2nd: Gene Wong
3rd: VDO
The HAK streak is broken lol!
One question. Was any of it recorded?
videos plz!!:eek:
