Hmmmmmmmmm this thread is heating up:D
Uhh…
Please don’t mention my name and “GameFAQs” that close together. It makes me look like some kind of GameFAQs spokesman. shudders. Oh and BTW, yeah, GF is scrubby, but at least they know it. SRK’s got quite a few scrubs also, they just don’t seem to know it.
Anyway, yeah, RC Scum Gale is dumb hard to do, and yeah it’s fuckin risky too, but shit man it would own everything. Like I said on GF, it would just take insane concentration to learn it, like zen kinda shit.
I’m not that focused, so maybe someone else can do it.
bokchoy- As for the Blanka/Bison thing, personally I think putting A-Bison at R2 is just a waste of space. The main reason A-Bison is picked is for the CC, but most of his CC does pixel damage, which doesn’t get a boost at any ratio (or maybe it get’s a little boost, either way it’s negligable), so I almost always keep him at R1. I think R1 Bison is more than good enough to back up most teams, but with a team with Blanka on it, you’re probably better off just being safe and backing up the team with R2 Blanka.
Battery/Bison/Blanka (2) is way too good of a team structure. If I play Sak/Bison/Blanka, sometimes I’ll use Blanka/Sak/Bison (2) or Sak/Blanka (2)/ Bison.
I mean, ya can’t go too wrong though with a team like that anyway.
Hahahaha Ok JS master next time we play rush down my vega:D
obviously u are different, too cheap for me to handle.
Sorry man, don’t take it wrong…
Bison R1 is definately a fine suggestion… your reasons are undeniably good at any rate. I’m not too sure about Blanka R2 though. I guess it just depends on the many factors that are variable to each player, but I personally can’t see myself using R2 Blanka. My reason is because I still can’t do button tap RCs more than 5% of the time… damn them, and I haven’t reached my own expectations with Blanka yet. I can do the charging RCs with pretty damn good consistancy (70-80% in live combat) though. I haven’t heard any button tap RC tips that have helped me… anyone have anything I might be able to use?
I’ve only knowingly done the RC Scum Gale once, but I was too enthralled to CC out of it, so stab me in the face now. Well, I’m not sure how worth it it is anymore though, I’ve been getting poked around a lot from my failures, and I’ve tried this enough times to make my current consistancy about 0.8% or so  But getting smacked by Kim, Vega, Balrog, Bison and Guile isn’t always so pleasant when this fucks up. So basically, I dunno how far to go with RC Scum Gale. I’ve been varying my Iori CCs for style, they seem to be different every time. I wanna get them to the point where they can look really smooth, elegant, etc.
I’m going to the anime convention in Chicago this May… They claim they’ll have a large arcade with several tournies and free DDR. If they have CvS2, I wonder how many scrubs will have their sleeps plagued by Iori…
I’m having trouble deciding who to use in this team.
Athena, Hibiki, Bison(Psycho) r2.
I like this team but i’m thinking about taking out Athena and putting in Sakura. I’m comfortable with Athena but i think i would have a better chance with Sakura.
Could anyone help me to decide to use?
Could give me the pros and cons for the team choices?
Thanks in advance.
Yah, that’s what I was thinking too. Bison’s CC is mostly 100 damage hits, so R1 Bison seems more meter-efficient. On the other hand, R2 Bison means more Bison, and Bison is (arguably) the team’s most important character.
No such thing as getting “cheaped”, just getting owned!!!
button tap RCs(electricity) with Blanka are good after slides and feirces or sweeps, it’s almost like adding a free dp at the end of every poke.
Also, since he has almost 0 vulnerability after the RC electricity, it’s a farely safe way to build meter really fast…
but if you’re wondering how to do them…well, just learn how to RC a punch lariat, then add 3 consecutive punches before it. Once you can do it once pretty easily, then doing it 3 or 4 times is nasty.
first RC i ever learned was rolento RC KKK jump and lariats(for 1 day my gief was god…), so learning electrcity came naturally…plus I knew how to do fast electrcity(the finger roll).
“strat” wise, If you’re ranging your opp with feirces, then there’s a small chance that your opp is gonna be close enough to you to hit you out of your electricity…so, it’s free meter, that’s why Blanka is the best R2 of all. good strength and free meter, guaranteed anti-airs, and easy tick plus a nasty jump. Learn to put it all into one gameplan and you’re set…
lol, first time I saw the repeated elec was versus ricky, then INO did it to me when I was stoned(mind you, never having played against a good A-blanka), and I was like…duhhhhhhhhhhh, waaaaaaaaaaa, ummmmm…feirce…
zap. ummmmmmm, jump, zap…and on it went.
If Valle called me a scrub and never had seen me play before i would still have to consider it, just cuz it’s Valle come on. lol j/k
but is A geese that good? just wondering.
-Pickledude-
what are some other characters that have really easy/scrubby CC’s like ken (forward + roundhouse xx super)?
Gunter, what was the damage formula for the A Groove CCs?
Was it the first 5 or 8 hits that matter? or is it some other number that I am not familiar with.
Because right now I try to get in more damage with the King Corner CC and I jump again to get two more fierces in and then I mk Trap Shot, lk trap shot, super.
Is that pointless?
You’re close. 8 is the magic number. A super in CC mode does 80% (8x10). The rest of the hits are as follows:
Hit # - Percent of Normal Damage
1 - 72% (9x8)
2 - 64% (8x8)
3 - 56% (7x8)
4 - 48% (6x8)
5 - 40% (5x8)
6 - 32% (4x8)
7 - 24% (3x8)
8 - 16% (2x8)
9 - 8% (1x8)
10+ - 0-100 points damage
(the first hit of moves like King’s Trap Shot and
Ryo’s Crazy Hands do 0 damage)
**
It depends. If the hit is already doing low damage, it might be more damaging to bypass it to go into the fast hits. For example, if a Fierce will only do like 200 and then 100 in the span of 4 seconds, it’d be more damaging to do a move that will get 5 hits in the same amount of time. I just test these things out separately, but do whatever is most comfortable for you.
damage scaling question
Gunter:
What if I combo into a CC? For example, Bison j.HK, d.LP, d.LP, d.MK xx scissors (6 hits already), then CC. Would the first hit of my CC (s.HP let’s say) do full damage as if it were hit one of activate, combo? Or would it be as it were hit seven of just straight up activate, combo already?
damage scaling question
The damage will be as hit #7. The plus side to comboing into the CC (other than it being FREE) is that the hits PRIOR to activation don’t scale (well, they do past a certain point, but that’s a whole other story…).
which characters are top tier in A groove? my team right now consists of A groove ken, iori, ???. i need a third character, and i don’t like bison (i can’t do the CC to save my soul). any tips on who would complement my team well?
thanks.
EDIT- in general, how effective are guardbreak CC’s? which are some of the easiest to do? what is sagat’s?
best A-groove characters are mainly ones that build quick meter…sakura blanka bison. After that it’s like…i dunno sagat or vega prolly, or hibiki.
that’s the best team anyhow(blanka 2), toooooo good.
KING
bitch builds meter like what
AFAIK, Mai, Yuri, Iori, Kyo and Terry have mash customs, but most of them are ticklish, and a lot of them don’t do a lot of damage.
Ok I want to pick up A groove, and can do a few basic combos with some characters, but some of the good ones are super hard for me to get the timing down. Things like Ken’s standing RH to kyaku to shin I can do in training mode or if someone’s starry, but I have a hell of a time comboing into it even in training mode. One of the videos I’m pretty sure was j.rh, c.s, s.j, activate. The 3 hit combo isn’t too hard but I can’t seem to activate before they’re out of reel and the combo is broken.
Hitting a jab shoryuken and trying to activate never works, they just hit the floor as I’m ready to swing. I even tried cheating and bound another button to f+rh to auto-activate at one button press, and I still can’t get it to work. Is there something I don’t know about it? I tried doing it as fast as a buffer, maybe I’m just missing it.
Is there a ‘trick’ to doing it well? Sort of like buffering a 2-quarter circle super by doing two fireball + button (for chars with the ability to do that)
