Who’s going to casuals tonight? I will be there tonight, but I can’t make the tournament this Saturday because I’m defending my thesis the following Monday.
On that note, let me make a shameless plug on my thesis defense. I consider all of you my brothers, and I know that a lot of you have work, but it will be cool to see some of you there.
What is a thesis defense?
- A thesis defense is where I give a presentation about the research that I’ve done. After the thesis defense (assuming I pass), I will be upgraded to Dr. Freddy.
What is the topic of my defense?
- How do insects taste with their feet? Yeah I know, it’s super cool that insects can taste with their feet. I will answer this question with modern tools in genetics, neuroscience, and molecular biology.
Is it gonna be good?
- You betcha! If you think I’m good at KoF, I’m much better at research. I once went to the Genetics Society of America meeting (think of it as the evo for scientists), and got 1st Prize for my poster over 850 entrants!
What’s in it for you?
- Besides learning some great science, there will be a reception afterwards where there will be food, wine, and cake! Hell, you should still come if you want to trash me and ask some hardball questions. This is the opportunity!
