<3 Good to hear. <3
I hear you with that idea. Thats why I play a lot of characters. It gives you new perspectives on match ups and move sets because you see limits that other characters have and how your character is different from them. My bucket of tricks consists of Cody, Akuma, Dudley, Ibuki, Ryu, Ken, Rog, Guile, Seth. I’ve been playing all of these characters pretty much since day one on and off. Cody is fun, Dudley is a oki bully, Akuma shows me a BETTER vortex and god like options, Seth teaches me to cherish health, Ryu teaches me patience, Ibuki doesn’t have pokes, Guile has everything, and Ken helps me w pressure. I definitely do believes playing multiple characters is very helpful. It’s relatively simple to pick up and learn a few basics. (AA, pokes, bnb, hard punish BNB, ultra combo, corner combo)
I’ve been having these sort of discussions with people for a long time. People think that games like MVC2, Melee, Third Strike etc. are very unbalanced and in some cases “dumb because i have to pick one of the top five characters to win!” but they are basically better games because there is more of a learning process. THAT is why I like them better…not balance. MVC3, SF4, SSF4, and I’m sure AE are 100% completely accessible and pretty much just cut and paste. Combos, how to go about playing in a match, character similarity, move priority, etc are all things that truly stand out to make a player better faster. These characteristics make the game easier to play. In older titles there is no ONE BROKEN character, move that one character has, or easy mode combo to pull off and win.ALL the shit is broken, hard to pull off, and takes time to fully grasp how the game is played. Everything about the game is difficult and easy to do. It’s much more of a learning process. Certain games are definitely broken once you do understand how they are played and get to that level…but its a longer time/deeper understanding before you see that.
Like, people tell me 3S is so broken. “you dont want to play that shit!” but i do because i want to get to that level so i can see WHY it’s broken or why kara throws are so important and why blah blah blah. I know why SF4 and SSF4 are highly defensive titles…its really obvious. But i dont know why Wolverine, Gambit, Venom, etc suck in MVC2 and why the game is the way it is. I want to learn the things that i’ve missed and see new angles to the best fighting games of all time that will help me see new angles in the future.
I like to learn and develop and right now my interest is in getting bodied and fucked up for a long time to see old games for what they are. I’ll be free and I will definitely say that. Not going to lie.
EXCITED!!!
Can I come?
Can I come?
If you do not want me to because of the internet hate it’s really not a big deal but I would like to make an attempt to go. Not sure what my work schedule is though unfortunately…
