CSULA (California State University, Los Angeles) - The Pitt

Dodgers: Hey I remember a time when the pit used to be an alright place and the tv could be used but that was before the old student union went down. Hopefully they bring in some newer games and that they can change their mind on the tv and let gamers use it again.

are you sure? i’ve played gears2 on the TV…but u do work there lol

but it might have been an activity. i forgot lol

Perhaps it just depends on who we talk to.
I haven’t given up yet.

Random Edit: Hit me up if anyone here plays gears2.

Expecting to be on campus tomorrow around the afternoon to late afternoon with my broham blackheartking!!!

GG’s in marvel to all that I played today. Too bad that we had to play msp without a triangle jump! I probably should have just picked Guile or something!

Team ATA represent. GGs to all who played

It would be nice to have that Marvel vs Capcom 2 machine fixed. Every few minutes the machine just freezes. It’s funny how people still power it on anyway even though the out of order sign is still on there.

3rd Strike machine could use some fixing as well.

I would also like to request a Guilty Gear Accent Core machine…if that is available.

Yo Djay35,

There’s a tournament this weekend at Denjin. It’s the SBO qualifiers tournament so for sure there’ll be a lot of excellent players there. I won’t be able to go this weekend, but if you wanna check out some of the action, I highly recommend going to this one.

There’s another tournament the following weekend at FFA. You might be interested in competing in this one 'cause they use American sticks. I can probably go to this one with you if you want, but I can’t give you a definite answer yet.

Let me know what’s up.

JC where you at dude?

Hey R | C, I can’t wait for the summer time, I will be able to practice more. One site that I go to alot is www.eventhubs.com. TheShend on youtube also have a lot of tutorials. R | C have you every heard of Thong Boy?

Thongboy Bebop? Yeah, I’ve played with him before back in my UCLA days.
But that was back when I hardly played 3s. I played cvs2 mostly then.

finals week…i’m going to have some 5 hours between finals. So i’m going to be playing for awhile down in the Pitt

caution, i’ll be smelling like an ash tray. 5 hours=lots and lots of cigarettes

Does anyone knows the importance of frames in 3rd Strike?

Frames are important in 3rd Strike.

no pool tables?

Knowing the frames of moves can help you determine what to do. When you hit someone with an attack, there are 3 possible outcomes.

  1. Frame Disadvantage - negative numbers (opponent recovers before you do)
  2. Frame Advantage - positive numbers (you recover before opponent)
  3. Neutral - 0 (both recover at the same time)

So for example. According to this:
http://ensabahnur.free.fr/Baston/index.php?page=gameMoves&gameNum=20&charNum=15&charName=Ryu&gameName=Street%20Fighter%20III%20Third%20Strike

When you block Ryu’s crouching HK, Ryu has a -13 disadvantage. So now you know how much time you have to retaliate. You can now look through your list of moves (depending on which character you’re using) and find attacks that come out within 13 frames. If you’re also using Ryu, you can see that crouching HK starts up in 7 frames. So every time you block a crouching HK, you can sweep him back in return (assuming you’re within range).

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what you can find out with frames. But essentially, it lets you know the exact timing of things - and allows you to plan make a game plan accordingly.

You still around for the summer dude?

Yes pool tables. Not sure if student ID is needed.

Thanks R | C, I’ve been practicing with Ryu a lot lately. Right now I’m trying to get the hang of parrying in matches. I’ll come to campus sometimes so we can practice. Do you still go to the game room at your usual time?

Nah, I haven’t been going during the summer 'cause it’s really empty.
I’m down for practice whenever though, just let me know.

i didnt have the money to go to summer. Maybe in the spring we can finally work out that tourney with the school

R-Chie tells me that clubs on campus have free access to room reservations for club meetings.

One of you guys can consider starting a SF club and just pass it along to the next person when you graduate. Then you’re free to reserve rooms for tournies as you please. No more waiting for the pitt to get sf4 or not being able to use the Soccer T.V. I don’t think it’d be that hard to start it up, just requires some leg work. I mean c’mon, there’s a friccin’ cosplay club. LOL. Just an idea.

as much as i would LOVE to start a street fighter club myself…i suck at leadership and live too far away to be heavily involved

i think i would have liked to run around campus trying to rally support and get more club members though
