thats actually the best news. i couldn’t vortex her because i was so afraid of the ex wheel. it’ll make the match more bearable.
Basically, palm kills two birds with one stone. An air attack for safe jumping and armor breaking for counter.
She can backdash but that can be easily OS’d.
I gotta say, I thought that last part was hilarious!
However, I gotta side with JR on this… So what if he types in all caps and likes to spread smilies in his posts? Y’know what? The guy’s a top-level SF player and he doesn’t look down on ANYONE who plays the game. Which is more than can be said of about 90% of the people on this forum (not just the Akuma boards) and 99.9999999% of the people who post (used to post) on his Youtube Channel.
I wish more peeps were like JR when playing… Why y’all gotta be like School on a Saturday?
ill agree. most people dont like JR for whatever reason, but as a player he’s proven that he’s able to place.
attacking someone’s age is pretty retarded when thats all the ammo you really have against someone. valle still continues to body people at his age x]
It’s not that with age you get worse, it’s just that with age you’re supposed to be more mature.
I’ll just throw my 2 cents on the matter.
I don’t mean to be disrespectful towards JR, but by writing in caps (nothing wrong with emoticons imo) you are just saying “screw the netiquette”. Doesn’t matter when your caps-spree started, back in Evo 2k4 or whatever. That’s not style, that’s plain screaming.
Back on topic: does U1 punish Juri’s EX wheel?!
Sure.
New Video Up- Me taking on zangief loool funny shit

quite new to all this SF lingo… can u elaborate what u mean by anti air… (",)
It’s what people should do when you constantly jump in at them.
SKG…playing that way against an even halfway-decent Zangief is suicide.
Rule #1 for playing against Zangief is basically don’t let him get close to you. Every single one of your jump-ins was easily punishable by lariat. Also, a few times you landed right next to Gief on wakeup after throwing a LP air fireball - this is begging to get SPD’d.
Akuma really can’t play recklessly against Zangief - you want to carefully zone, bait out sweep-able lariats and poke at max distance. Don’t be afraid to run away and let the clock run out - many of my victories against competent Zangief players were achieved in exactly that fashion.
To answer your other question, anti-air means punishing someone for jumping in at you - Dragon Punch, cr. HP, cr. MK kara U1 and fs. HP are what most Akuma players use.
IMO, the Gief matchup isn’t really that black and white. His wakeup options kinda suck without meter and even EX SPD isn’t the end-all solution to vortex. Of course, it’s suicide if you don’t go for the knockdown before that.
EDIT: Infiltration vs Vangief at EVO '10 iirc.
I wish I had your confidence guys, I just play that matchup lame runaway (fireballs and long range pokes) style, hella afraid of getting murdered by Lariats/SPDs when vortexing…
DF throw his ass all day.
I’d be a little scared to do that now. He lost his DF grab OS DP thanks to increased recovery.
Hey man, beef up!
You knew you were taking risks when you started maining akuma so why don’t you take it a step further.
Just practice reading gief.
DF throw beats: lariat, blocking, ex-spd/ex-gaygrab
DF palm OS sweep beats: lariat (blocked), backdash, forward dash, jumping
Also, if the Gief is grab happy neutral jump his ass, after a blocked palm, JUMP!
When you conditioned him to stop making dem pancake mix, tickthrow like a baws.
RINSE AND REPEAT!
Thanks man, good stuff!
I get very cautious in this matchup because of the everyday scrubs who spam SPD. I mean, sure it’s suicide to go frame trapping on Giefs, but it gets kind of annoying when all you see on screen is “Reversal”…
I’ll try being more aggressive, didn’t know that DF throw beats so much stuff!
thanks for the advice will deffo incorporate these ideas into my gameplay…
one other thing i was playing a scrub sagat the other day who continuously spammed tiger fireball for the whole f’king game. any tips on how to beat these simple minded douchebags… (",)
oh and evry chance i got close to hime he would either DP or TK…
I’m glad you’ve stopped posting like a troll.
Lots of ways to punish him for spamming tiger shots. Ex demon flip will get you right in his grill. Neutral jump will put him at a disadvantage if you are outside of his st.hk range as he now can’t immediately throw another tiger shot, you can now throw a HP shaku to blow through the next tigershot. Now Sagat is scared of your HP shaku, you can use LP shaku to make him hesitate, you can use this hesitation to get in.
Get close to sagat, if he’s DP happy then bait him, make him blow his meter on FADCs, get that knockdown and go nuts. TK is so far removed from vanilla TKs, they are pretty much always unsafe which is a fantastic punish opportunity which you can end with a hard knockdown.
Also
 I usually say “churning butter” but I’m definitely adding that to my vocabulary.
If they keep throwing HP or HK tiger shots and you’re not sure you have the time to fire off a Shaku (red fireball), DON’T KEEP BLOCKING THEM! Jump over one and that will give you time to wind one up.
I always begin with an LP shaku. If he pauses and throws another shot, I throw another LP shaku or two before switching to the HP shaku to tag him. If he jumps after the LP shaku snuffs out his tiger shot, I wait for him to fire another one off before starting again (usually jumping or ducking the next one to establish timing and distance in my favour). After that, if he still hasn’t learned, just keep alternating between LP and HP red fireballs randomly and jump over shots (or duck under the high shots) if they start to come too close to you - keep in mind that red fireballs have a longer startup than regular fireballs. You’ll know if he’s semi-decent by the fact that he will start to jump over and towards you when he sees you wind up another red fireball.
At that point, start looking for the knockdown to begin your vortex.
