Do you find this setup working a lot on people? I know you said it’s more like a way to make people think twice about jumping, but but is it strict to time the demon? I’m asking because iirc the frame window for punishment is like 2 frames for empty jumps and 4 frames if they used a normal…
The more I play this game, the more I fail at my antiair. Sigh.
Unfortunately the answer isn’t very simple. The timing is going to vary largely between characters for example gen has a short jump arc and dhalsim has a large, floaty jump arc. Not to mention that some characters could get out of this setup even after the ultra flash, so long as they haven’t already pressed a button. Viper for example could burn kick to change her arc, dhalsim could teleport.
I heard that. The more SRKs trade, the more I get scared of using them.
I’m a big fan of mp SRK. Higher probability of landing both hits as AA for 130 dmg. Compare this to hp SRK which isn’t as easy to reactively net the full three hits for 150 dmg. Yes, an extra lousy 20 dmg that is a lot more difficult to consistently land compared to mp SRK.
Also keep in mind that in AE, mp SRK is satanlike. 130 damage and extended invulnerability. I’m yet to have this trade in AE. In my opinion it was a completely unnecessary buff, but I’m sure as hell not complaining about it xD
Totally right, trying it against characters like Adon, Cammy, Makoto etc doesn’t seem smart. It’s a cool trick though against those character with “standard” jump ins…
I can’t wait to try the new MP SRK, the MP DP hitbox looks sexy.
The thing is if they jump forward anytime after you start the s.HK they are yours. You can adjust the timing to catch them because you will always end up underneath them with two jabs already buffered. Also keep in mind there is a fireball coming toward them so if they wait too long they either have to block, jump, or focus the fireball. However if they jump before you s.HK they will land before you can get over there.
I used to think this set up was gimmicky because it was a JR set up, but the thing is the more I tried it out the more I found this is a legit way to AA using the demon. It’s just as legit as c.MK Kara into U1.
Like any other set up there are ways around this if you know what you are looking at, but you would be shocked at the number of players you catch with this. Because it feels like you shouldn’t be able to do this from full screen, but you can.

1st match vs. Abel
@ 0:20 - I didn?t know that. Interesting.
Just be wary of tick throw setups against Abel. Command throw can make ticking a little riskier than usual. Execution was pretty sloppy at the end.
2nd match vs. Elf
When Elf gets the knockdown, never do wakeup DP (0:18 and 0:20). It feeds right into his mixup. Don?t let all his running around confuse you into thinking you will nail him with a DP. Most Elfs are looking for it on wakeup anyway. More st.HK pressure wouldn?t hurt in this matchup either.
3rd match vs. Ken
You should not be crouch teching during Ken?s block strings. Just don?t do it. At 1:05, I?m not sure why you would go for x-tatsu. Out of all the other safe options Akuma has, I don?t think x-tatsu was optimal for that situation.

It’s clear both players don’t have much knowledge of the game, but it’s a start!
SKG, here’s very simple advice that should get you a lot of mileage.
- Use less specials
- Don’t Jump (let them jump)
- Anti-Air (down HP to start)
