Our bones lose density as we age, so height naturally decreases, sometimes up to 2-3 inches. Our nose and ears never stop growing throughout our lifetime. Not to mention obesity and aging can change facial features significantly.
Now, I will admit is that his ears underwent a dramatic change in look (ears get bigger over time, but they don’t necessarily change shape). However, seeing as he’s a billionaire living in a coke-filled lap of luxury, it could easily be cosmetic surgery.

The thing, is that they can use Chapo in prison, I know he is a friend of PRI, in fact, I know the PRI helped a lot of cartels by taking their money and looking the other way. It’s odd that once Calderon took over, a non PRI president intitated a war agaisnt the cartels.
Whether or not it is him, you can’t silence the one of the most powerful men on the planet with prison, and when you are friends with the top brass. And to be honest, I would rather they leave him alone, he’s to important in keeping other cartels in check, especially the Zetas and Templares…
Of course it isn’t going to stop anything. The sinaloa cartel doesn’t do this at the rate the Zetas and other cartels do. In fact, the Zetas are responsible for that barbarism that the Mexican drug buisness is associated with. The sinaloa cartel bans this behavior from being practiced on citizens.
IIRC, there’s a story/rumor that Chapo himself or one of his top brass shot a dude that belonged to the cartel for kidnapping. IDK if it’s true, but I remember hearing a few of my relatives with ties in Mexico talking about this and what not.

On the other hand, it would be rather bad form for the govt to make a big show of catching a fake when it could be disproven so easily.
