unless you do AA lp shou, then you can follow up with u2 from anywhere but damn is that hard… the angles have to be JUUUST right.

Yeah its not even worth it really in my eyes. I wiff about 80% of my ultra’s trying this mess… EX shunpu is the way to go for u2 for sure.

Quoted and bolded for emphasis, it’s a real shame too since that’s a good way of landing it when pressuring someone from full screen with crappy Hadoukens. As opposed to Ryu’s easy mode and more damaging LP SRK > Metsu Hadouken, we really got shafted :frowning:

how do you get the damage window from training mode to show up during matches? (i.e. fretgy’s matches)

In Replaymode there is an Option for Enabling Inputs and DMG Window

I’ve fought creamy climax 2 times online recently. I doubt he knew who i was though.

I pick U2 over U1 because there are more opportunities to use it. I also have trouble getting EX tatsu to come out because often times people I face are crouching, and I usually jab too much that cr hp would whiff.

LOL far more often than I’d like, I’ve been botching the input for u2 after ex shunpu and getting hp shouoken, then still managing to connect the u2 afterwards… When I fuck up, I fuck up with style!

I don’t believe this to be true. Most of the U2 setups are situational and only a dummy gets hit by them.

Easiest ways to land U2 are:

a) Noob doing j.hk in corner so you air tatsu > U2.
b) Full screen hadoken vs noob. noob jumps forward. You do lp shouoken anti air> U2

For everything else there is U1.

Before I was using U2 against Adon and Guy for their Jaguar shit and run flip stuff but U1 can catch these aswell.

Now I only use U2 on Hawk, Akuma and sometimes Gief. Even then against Gief and Akuma I seriously consider U1 alot. Akuma U1 cos I want him dead quick but thanks to his air fireball it makes landing U2 midscreen and corner cake. Can also punish teleport with U2.

Gief is easy to U2 since U2 beats cross ups and its easy to lp shou anti air > U2 him midscreen. But I like U1 for the damage on Gief since he has so much health you want all the damage you can get. Only its hard to land U1 on a good Gief. U2 only tickles Gief though so its catch 22.

And I agree with Cookie Munsterr. I get ex otoshi more than I get U2. And if you don’t time U2 correctly they can bounce out of the first hit. Same trouble with Rose U2. Alot of Rose players get ex reflect by accident even at high level. I’ve seen it happen to Arturo Sabin and many others many times lol.

I never use U2 too. At first i picked it to counter Abel’s U2 but the animation is so slow that he can grab you before your Ultra comes out !
I saw Uryo use pick U2 against Claw, maybe causehis jump his very high so you have time to punish it. But the damage is so low…

I pick U1 or U2 based on the matchup, mostly for the option-selects I can do with them. For Chun I pick U1, but against Bison I pick U2 etc.

I use u2 against cammy and akuma. That’s pretty much it.

Sho FADC tatsu loops generally pushes to the corner, from there you could just end your combo in sho for free damage.

May not be a huge amount, but free damage is free damage.

That being said, I U1 a lot now in matchups where I want to play offense. The extra damage is super nice.

Wtf fail. U2 can do every setup U1 can do and more. So if U2 only works on noobs, then U1 won’t even work on them… There are reasons for both Ultras. If you want more opportunities to land it, then U2 is better. You can combo into it in the corner with no meter. Or if you land a c.mk to shouoken that puts them near the corner you can fadc into hp xx lp srk and ultra off it. For U1 you need another bar. The ultra definitely isn’t useless. It also anti airs well and it can hit stuff like blanka balls and honda headbutts (and if you do the kick version and hit them on your invincible frame you can do it without getting hit).

Thanks Mason I know this. But it doesn’t hit blocked balls and headbutts so it sucks. I still hate U2. And I have trouble executing it. I tried with U2 a bit yesterday as I hadn’t trained with it since May. I keep getting ex otoshi or ex shouoken when I try to do it naked or buffer it into a dash. U1 I land so much easier than U2. I can’t even get that thing to fire off. Anyway, I’ve seen many Sakura players fight in Team Sakura PSN with U2. People only use it raw or after ex tatsu.
I’m the only person I’ve seen who goes for air tatsu> U2 in the corner.

I once saw a Sak in the team do ex hado full screen then ex otoshi whiff then combo into the U2 off the ex hado. Thats something I’ve only done in training mode but I saw a guy do it live and though its risky and a waste of meter it was cool to see.

Anyway, I don’t really care how easy it is to land in the corner or anti air cross ups. Its a shitty ultra. Its slow and the damage is terrible. I use it more for the flash than going for the win.
They really should make her U2 more like Ryu or Rose super. Then I’ll be happy.

Against Honda use U1 because you can option-select the shit out of his EX headbutt with it.
