I did to, but not really what I am getting at.

Jeez corona too strong for just one thread

I’ll say one last thing and I’m done.

This whole thing started because in SF5 general someone was chastising anti-quarantiners for wanting the economy to reopen.Everybody doesn’t want to everything to reopen just to watch sports and shoot darts at their local bar. A lot of people are hurting financially.

And that funky $1200 Trump and friends sent isn’t cutting it. That’s not even mortgage for some. Maybe you guys are okay financially. I don’t know. Personally I’m fine I got paid leave but everyone isn’t in my situation. Small businesses are going under everyday and they won’t be back. While the stock exchange gets bailed out and Jeff Bezos makes billions on top of billions cause with no local economy he’s the only game in town. 30 million unemployed? That’s great depression levels. Do you guys want to live through a depression? I sure as shit don’t. We’re on thin ice and all it takes is something essential to go for things to get real bad. Supply chains are already going and people are reporting meat shortages. Go on some facebook groups and read about people who can’t get unemployment for some technical reason or there unemployment is out and they’re down to their last dollar. It’s easy to tell people stay at home but when you have to make a decision between starving and risking infection suddenly the virus doesn’t look so bad.

I’m not here to downplay the virus or anyone that’s succumbed to it but there is a lot of conflicting data (Japanese cruise ship) out there and I plead people to look at everything with a little more scrutiny beyond talking heads in the mainstream media like Birx and Fauci (who are in bed with big Pharma). Furthermore there is blatant malpractice occurring where people are dying who could have been saved and no one with any clout is addressing it.

I think hard decisions need to be made between facing this virus (with the proper precaution) and nuking the economy which I don’t think people understand how bad things can really get when entire industries start collapsing and states run out of money.

In the end though, I’m over arguing. Like Pertho said all our minds are made up. What’s going to happen is going to happen. It’s going to be one helluva a year for better or for worse.

Question. What would you rather face? A depression or a global wide outbreak we don’t fully understand the effects of?

I don’t want to live through a depression either but we have and we survived it in the past. It was hella hard but we did it.

Now on the flip side just how well has humanity handled plague and virus outbreak? Not to well to be honest with you. They’ve only almost wiped us out multiple times in the past. Depression was bad but still doesn’t compare to what Plague has wrought.

Feel like it’s easier to remember the effects of a depression because they have been more recent. Been a while since humanity was reminded what mother nature can do and she doesn’t give a single shit either.

I’m with radiant. Can’t rebuild an economy when most or all the population is dead. Common sense what’s more important here🤷🏾‍♂️

We’ve gotten through quite a few moe virus outbreaks than depressions.

Pretty sure an assload of people died in the process.

I feel I am getting confused with someone else and am out of some loop lol…

This whole situation is a complete fuckery from our Government on the daily, our own stupid ass citizens willing to let others die and them clinging to fucking conspiracy theories to justify shitty actions. It is all completely shittastic and thousands upon thousands are dying for it.

Lets just not lose sight of the fact that Pertho did post a spot on debate right back at the guy but yea a meme that was funny is good to post for a small laugh at the dark times as its better than being consistently dark about it.

Yeah, and 7 million people starved to death in the Great Depression.

You know my position on staying inside. I’m about bring a kid into this fucking bullshit. My ass ain’t leaving the house unless absolutely necessary.

But I think it’s good to have a healthy concern about the economy, too.

Of course it’s good to have a healthy concern for the economy. I never said otherwise.

I simply asked which he preferred to live through, depression or world wide pandemic.

Well, for me, that would depend on whether I’m immune to the virus or not :joy:

You a betting man?

That was a joke.

I know. But that’s basically the crux of my point. Are you a betting man that a dangerous virus will fuck you and everyone else up less then a depression? That’s basically what dude up there is arguing for so I’m simply asking the logical question. Which does he think will be less awful?

Cuz honestly both situations suck. From how I see it opening up too early will compound the problem, a lot of people will die, and then will be in a depression and a world wide pandemic and that double whammy seems far worse then just dealing with one of those issues.

Nothing groundbreaking yet, but there is some potential here. Some hope at least:

this would all go better in the election thread where 3 people are arguing for opening up fuck then wellbeing of the whole “where is my money?”

I mean yeah money is important. If you want to protest for a pause is mortgage and rent i am all for that.

Markets are open. People can still get food.

Now people are freaking out over meat rationing

During world war 2 we were all about buying bonds, saving up, making sure the government can produce weapons to win.

And that was for 8 years

People told to keep their distance
Stay home
People lose their jobs but can apply for any number of essential worker jobs

Driving people into a corner

Where people who are living paycheck to paycheck have to throw their lots in with “i want a haircut” and guys open carrying rifles to a government building yelling and threatening.

The people worried about food and shelter. These people can probably figure out fuck it apply for unemployment or a part time job. They will figure it out

But then there will be loud idiots

But in the mean time we have record unemployment and a lot of the country are collecting unemployment leaving the country in a welfare state

There are jobs available but not everyone will want to do them and that is on those people

This country is full of selfish morons. So we will have people yell to open up. A stupid administration who will listen to those people because they are a loud minority. I mean trump has gone back to denounce his own rollout telling states to open completely and we have georgia, Florida, and texas doing just that

It would be easier to get behind if most of these assholes were protesting for something worthwhile. Why not protest for rent and mortgage freezes? A bigger and longer lasting stimulus? None of that is happening. Those fuckers who bitching about wanting haircuts and going back to work when there’s quite a few essential businesses they can apply for. They are fighting to indulge in their selflessness.
