Think I need to get that meme out again about not listening to Trump when it comes to Covid-19.
With our numbers jumping up so high as of late, I really don’t think it is a good idea to start reopening. 6 weeks ago our death count was around 39. Now it is over 930. That is freaking insane.

How long was his break from doing these? 2 days
The biggest state wants the biggest body count.

The daily deaths are dropping tho, as are hospitalizations and patients in the ICU with covid. Our % increase of cases has leveled out at 3% right now, which is still an exponential, but just barely, which means we’re at the top of the curve, as long as we don’t slip up.
I have a lot of friends that work in hospitals around here (Columbus) and they’ve said they have plenty of open beds and personnel, so our healthcare system is handling it well

Looking at the overall numbers isn’t that great of a guide. Some cities are still climbing (mine for example) others are leveling off.
You already have the politicing of it from people who wanted the whole world to go shit without understand that we did the measures to make sure we didn’t get to what happened in WuHan.
Bleh, its gonna be dumb shit for a while. Specially since the senate punted helping out small businesses.

Agreed, the deaths in Ohio are disproportionately attributed to rural and low income cities and counties.
Cinci, Cleveland, and Columbus attribute for 50% of the cases and 25% of the deaths. I’m pretty surprised by the % of cases, considering that those three cities account for 50% of the population in Ohio, and they’re closer quarters, you could conclude that there should be a larger % of cases coming out of there.
Marion County is weird and what throws the overall state trends out of wack. They have as many cases as Columbus and Cleveland, but a population of 66k, whereas Cbus and CLE have 2 million each, but only 4 deaths.

That doesn’t seem fair to people who don’t want to get the virus, especially those who are at high risk with underlying health conditions.

My job sent out an email saying they have a target date of may 11th.
As i expected, very lose safety guidelines. A handful of disinfectant stations, daily temperature check, and staggered start times.
No mention of actual corona tests.

Some places are about to look like San Francisco during the 1918 pandemic. They reopened too soon and it got ugly. But hey, short term profits are totally cool even if the results of said profits are long term damage.

My job has a tentative return date of June 1st, but they will be monitoring the whole situation throughout May to reassess the scenario.
They’re also exploring the possibility of making home officing a permanent thing, which I will not be opposed to
