Condolences, Hawkingbird.
I was listening to Limbaugh on the way to Walmart today (pick up wife’s medication). He was hammering about how the media was hyping up the numbers because 98% survive. Didnt mention 10 to 20 hospitalizations depending.
Opened up facebook and an acquaintances father past away from complications due to CoVid.
I dont get what game people are playing with this shit. I really, really dont.

Yeah some people think just because you CAN recover from it, it’s ok to just go out and do whatever.
Aside from the the fact that you can give it to other people, why would you not care if you catch it? Why would you want to go through a respiratory sickness?

Well, its more about “why would you go through a sickness we know nothing about?”
People are rattling off numbers without really understanding what they mean in practice. Its similar to the issue with comorbidities: people dont appreciate how common some of these are.
Rush Limbaugh smoked his whole life, is overweight, has lung cancer and he is out there telling people is no big deal.

Also, once you exceed an area’s max ICU bed capacity mortality shoots way up.
Per capita, the US has slightly fewer ICU beds than Italy.

Yeah, all the people wanting the economy to reopen always leave this fact out. It also wont be just CoVid patients that are going to miss out on medical care either.
There’s a lot of angtsy people with a pocket full of matches. Either that or manchildren throwing a tantrum with catastrophic consequences. Regardless of the imagery, they are pushing for consequences that have already been demonstrated.
The really interesting thing is setting up the seeds of impatience in people. One of the things Limbaugh mentioned was how this shutdown seemed endless. We’ve barely done a month of it and they are actively working at undermining it.
The modern speed of life is really biting at people’s ability to live with patience. Between all the conviniences, we just dont understand waiting anymore.

My tool partner at work was one of those people who insisted that this was all being blown out of proportion back in late February.
I’d give him as much info as i could but he just didn’t want to look into it or something. Around that time or a bit later shit started getting bad in Italy.
I asked him, if we can clearly see what it does when people don’t take it seriously, and you are doing exactly that, what makes you think this is going to be different here when it comes to the US?
He said, “This is America.”

On more lighthearted news, I just struck a deal for a 35 lb kettlebell for a roll of toilet paper.
Trump says the economy is slowing down but I think its working just fine.

There are some people throwing hypothesis about how hydrochroloquine works because of the way it interacts with hemoglobin.
At the very least this is going to be the noise coming out as to why HCQ may work. Might as well monitor media before it blows up.
Edit: this isnt a post saying that HCQ works. I dont have a medical degree. What I am saying is this may hit the news in this way. Testing still needs to happen. No, dont pull a fucking Gootecks and tell people to take it.

Appreciate the support guys. My dad has been taking this pretty hard. Being at home all the time was already started to get to him and losing his sister hasn’t done any favors to his mental state. He’s been numb all day. I know he wants to get everybody together but can’t under the current circumstances. Video calls on Zoom is all we can manage.

I’ve seen some criticism of the article that put that out there, but didn’t look into any deeper.
One thing to keep in mind though is that affecting hemoglobin wouldn’t clear the virus any faster, which is what the people who claim HCQ works say they see happening.

I am sorry for your loss
The amount of bodies i walked to the morgue in the va who had no visitors because we stopped them is sad.
Like dying alone is one of the scariest ways to go out. A lot of people avoid the honor walk at work. But i always make sure to pay respects
Condolences to you and yours
My x-rays came out good. My symptoms are still waning. But i am just dealing with this cough. Drinking so much ginger lemon tea and eating congee all day
