This is what I did.
I went to draining mode on my dreamcast, and then picked the people I use against E. Honda as the training dummy.
Then I set the dummy to do headbutt, and held down-back so that it would block as soon as it finished.
After this, I tried to see what moves I could punish it with.
I repeated this for many other moves I was not sure about (e.g. Blanka L3 direct lightning, M. Bison kicks super, Sagat’s low kick super) to see what certain characters to do.
This shows how I have no life.
Most of the people sez what i had in mind but my 2 cents are as follows:
-DO use jabs but do it sparringly or do it when u have Honda zoned in. Throw it a couple of times and u’re opponent will most likely try to jump at u(punish the fatted one properly) or roll out of the situation (throw em,do super, etc…).
-Rely on jumping back with fp/fk(depending on character) when Honda is at a distance. It’s a patient game when it comes to Honda. I think Cammy’s Jumping FK cleanly hits an incoming headbutt.
- If u’re really good with the timing, u can standing f.p. incoming headbutts. I’ve seen peeps in the arcade using Cammy’s f.p. and also Bison’s to knock out incoming headbutts. THis strat is quite advanced and i don’t use it in Live cus of lag messing up timing.
Char specific:
-U have two uppercut chars in u’re team so quick punch/kick dp E.Honda whenever u see em coming. I can’t stress enough how ‘strong’ the priority is of those d.p.
-Use Cammy’s overhead special when u get Honda cornered. THe quick kick version comes out very fast and can be followed with q.k. with little recovery time. The trick is to get Honda blocking then go in for the throw(hey, it’s effective!) or poke em cautiously. Cammy’s overhead special is a great move to use for guessing games.
I have a tough time like u battling charged characters(Real Decoy’s team comes to mind) especially with my Zangief. I know Gief’s lariat can punish incoming headbutt but the timing and the reaction is really hard to perform.
try using cross ups kick and fireballs.

If you have parry and JD use it when his trying to head butt you.
I would say chunli is a good character to beat honda
Her jump is good for that since she can cross him up after a blocked headbutt or fierce slap. then do guard damage or damage itself, you also make him lose his charge.
if your around full screen and throw a jab fireball then her rh flip it hits him if he rc’s through her fireball. if your in the corner the rh flip also will hit his headbutt if your able to do it on reaction from a good enough distance to see it if your not in a roll groove.
