Counter hit specific combos: Who has them and how important are they?

Basically, any counter hit with sagat in one way or another = free tu fadc f.rh ultra. I won’t get into specifics cuz it’s sagat, but im sure you get it.

Bison can combo 2 standing Roundhouse when the first is counter hit.

Sagat can get a TU off of a c.HP on CH. It is actually quite easy to do if you buffer the DP motion on the c.HP, you have lots of time to get it off and it does over 300 damage.

CH combos are pretty important. If your opp. is good at teching throws, then you can start fishing for CH combos. Cammy can combo her ultra after a CH c.fierce, which you can land off of her dive kick mixups from her back throw. Just gotta pay attention to the screen to see the CH message pop up.

i personally am well aware of my ch’s playing ken. i have a number of setups where i try to coach my opponent into sticking something out for me to CH srk > full ultra. as it’s the only way to hit his ultra with 0 scaling i’m all about it.

as for more setups… i have seen sagat do st. fierce > cr. jab xx TU fadc f.Rh > ultra

this. probably the only counter hit combo I consciously use

One that happens alot is with C. viper

ch mp knuckle into cr.mp xx knuckler or if your on the ball cr.mp sjc ultra… pretty buff.

That Chun combo isn’t particularly useful. Hit confirming a CH off of a jab into a one frame link into Ultra? Good luck with that. She can 2 frame link Ultra off of a CH far.strong which is at least theoretically possible, if not something that’s going to come up that often. She can also combo Hasan Shu from CH cl.RH, something which gets thrown around a bit as there are actual set ups for it.

Yep, definitely more interesting than useful, but still cool just from a theory point of view. Imagine how badass you’d feel pulling that off in match.

CH sHK xx Hazanshu is pretty cool.

Well helloooooo mr flowchart!

Its called the “Nemo String”. When up close, c.LP, s.RH, Hasan Shu. If the opponent sees the c.LP and thinks you are going for the tick throw, they’ll try the option select tech-throw. But the c.LP into s.RH is a frame trap - the s.RH will score the counter hit, allowing the Hasan Shu to combo. The Hasan Shu can then be comboed with c.LK, EX Legs. Its a very damaging sequence.

fail

I never had God-like reaction and execution, so I can’t imagine ever applying counter hit combos to my game. Hell, even in the Alpha series, when the whole screen flashed when you got a counter hit, I still doubt that I’d be able to react fast enough to do a count hit specific combo.

and then from there, couldn’t Chun combo into the ultra if near the corner? that’s some crazy stuff which with a quick enough reaction, could swing the match back in your favor.

It seems since counter hit combos are an intentional game mechanic, the developers wanted people to notice when they get counter hits. If a person is not willing to notice when they get a counter-hit, and they’re losing, they’re basically ensuring the loss.

Yep. This is something I will go for if I have the opportunity, but it requires a bit of conditioning…do a few jab tick throws earlier in the match to make your opponent think that this is what you’re going for all the time. Then go for the counter hit combo, ultra juggle in the corner. The combo without the ultra is actually pretty damaging on its own though, so I might save the ultra just to keep the opponent in check, but if they are close to death I’ll throw it to finish them off.

Yeah conditioning while not being conditioned yourself is such a mind warping concept. I personally try to play everything by reaction and not by what a player has been doing or trying to do to me. I guess “anticipate everything” would be the jist of defensive strategy.

I’ve neglected to test for myself, but you can counter hit off of an opponent’s grab attempt?

Ya if you hit any move before it goes active it’s a counterhit

well that just about made my day.

Hmm, messing around a far Roundhouse with Akuma second hit as counter can be combod in to another far roundhouse, which puts you in range for the B&B available. This is useful, certainly on large characters where his RH is a good poking tool.

Did a bit with some other characters, but i haven’t checked up on the framedata info (Hell don’t even know where to get it) but certainly not the Chun Li Hazan Sho counter to combo. I remember in SFEX that move3 could combo normally but with this it makes it a pretty lethal tool.
