You guys are kind of comparing the wrong scene from another.

The only reason Corpus had a scene was because of MvC2 and that was really it.
No one else in played other games really, and when they did they separated themselves from most of the MvC2 community because of the way most of the top Corpus players acted (rude to the new peeps).

But then again, what area with MvC2 didn’t have a scene.
And outside of MvC2, there was really nothing much in Corpus. And when MvC2 started dying off, guess what happened to Corpus?

Everywhere, even outside of America, your gonna run into scrubs who will bitch and whine. Then thing is, if you put up it with long enough you will start to see a change in most of these players. They might turn into a really good player and start committed themselves towards the game, or they will stop hanging around. Either way, you got nothing to lose.

Don’t let something like “omg we dont want whinners in the scene” because no matter what thats gonna happen. If anything, it sounds more or less of an excuse on why you guys are just letting the scene die. Hell, I didn’t give up on trying to improve the GG scene in my town and other towns as well.
I was able to get more people in Austin to get into GG, and WTF I love over 3 hours from that town.

I know how the corpus scene was even from before, because I was in the era.
You guys never accepted new players, and the ones that did always moved out or whatever. Not to mention, you guys never gave any other games a chance. Anything outside of MvC2 was just crap to you’ll, and it was difficult to cooperate with the Corpus scene because all they played was MvC2 and made fun of those who played other games.

Your gonna have your bad players no matter what.
Your going to have have your people who whine, people who bitch.
Your going to have people who won’t stop complaining, people who hate on you for what your attempted to change in the scene.

But that didn’t stop me or the people who’ve helped me… and look at what has become of the CC scene.

The recent players after that tournament you went to have dramatically gotten better. And if you play anything close to the way you did at the tournament (even if it was your first time on stick), you better start shaping up now. Until then, you have nothing to truly prove until you’ve hit our tournament.

Also outside of MVC2 there was a GGXX & R# scene, but instead of trying to help it, they just got pissed off and kinda did the same thing as the MVC2 players. It was a no win situation.

I’ve been going to the arcade all my life and I didn’t see you there till last year. Where were you when MVC1 was released, where were you when MK3 was released even MK2 EVEN STREET FIGHTER 2!! Infact, why don’t you see pages 15 and see the shit I had to go thru.
These are the problems I’ve ran into, even face to face. Hence why I avoid that part of the community. I pointed this out already.

Not to mention, during the oldschool MK3 scenes and what not, every town had a scene. Hell, even my town (so yeah, I could’ve been more specific about the era thing)!

Also, I never said anything about you not putting up with there shit.
We all have too at one point or another.
I already know that you guys try attempted to bring the scene up, but you had a lot of people who did a lot of trash talk, it pushed most of the newer players away.

In general, they all just sound like a bunch of personal problems you could’ve worked out with each other.

YOU guys had random GGXX and CvS2 tournies and what not, but I or anyone else who took GGXX seriously on the corpus side was never informed.

Even with all this, people telling me shit and what not, I’m still hosting up a tournament in a town I don’t even live in…
I’ve never gave up, and you can see for yourself. Where? The proof is all around you as well in this tournament.

But whatever, I suppose theres always two sides to the story.

I get where you’re coming from, hell I remeber being a scrub back in the day, playing MvSF, MvC, MvC2 thinking I was hot shit talking trash and getting my ass handed to me. I got talked down too. I felt like quiting fighting games alltogether right there.

Ya know, I didn’t though, and I recently talked to an old school player of GGXX. He was great, blew me away back in the day, in any game I’m sure. I wouldn’t have admited it back then. I talked to him recently about 3s, he saw me play now. He laughed and told me “No offence, but it’s funny cause you actually know what you’re talking about now.” I have nothing but respect for him now, and I feel shitty for being gay back in the day.

Nothing should get on a personal level when playing a game that’s suppost to be fun.
Let that shit go, nobody wants that bullshit fighting game drama. Ignore those who talk shit and are scrubs. You blow it off and don’t talk shit and they might start to respect you and go on to be a better fighter who isn’t just a shit talking scrub.

I shouldn’t even care about this scene, I’m leaving to NYC in July. Here I am though setting up tournies in my town, handing out flier everyday and spreading the word. I’m trying to get big fighting game tournies like this for you guys every 4 months. I’m sure you never went through the kinda shit I go through. So stop complaining about the scene.

WTF I thought Tekken was still a fighting game. Other than MVC2 was Tekken. We have been around since TTT and you guys are blind to not see us 10 ft away after being DHC on MVC2.

We’ve gone to tournies out of town and ran our own tournies to keep our scene going. We never ran any GD players or weak-ass scrubs off either. If they stayed around long enough they turned into a competitive player. Still to this day Tekken DR has it’s scene and the only reason you guys stop showing up is because you think HWOrang’s d+4,d+4 connects and his 3,3,3,3 actually works. Learn the basics at least. Running into a person like that is less then a scrub. Get a good feel of how a game works before you guys just dismiss it as a veterans game.

I am in no way a good MVC2 player but I try out there. The crew of mvc2 players show up every Friday and bash my face in and they don’t give me shit about it or my random teams. I have learned the basics of the game and learned them from Phelps and NoA; who were always there playing to give me a heads up on what i should do.

The scene was never “dead” people got older and have jobs that take all their time to support themselves or just some other activity that occupies their time. Some even have familes now. However, we are always up for a good match here and there.

MVC2 is not all Corpus has to offer for the fighting “scene”. The reason no one wants to be apart of the Tekken scene is one; they can’t play for shit, two; hate steve fox and mishimas and pick fucken Ling; three have had a taste of my Jack 5’s Megaton pile driver twice in the same round.

Pozer good luck on running your tourney. If you get tekken going let people know other then the SRK peeps.

For the most part, I actually did somewhat explained that most of the other games separated themselves from certain parts of the Corpus community due to personal issues and what not.
The players have been there (some of them), but it could’ve been bigger.

I actually took Tekken 5 seriously until DR came out.
Never had a DR machine in a simple driving distances :wasted:

I’m trying to get Tekken 5 DR hosted at the tournament, but I dunno anyone with PS3s, the game, or converters to hook up your PS2/Hori controllers into the system with 0 lag.
Hopefully I’ll get something going…
