Anyone can recommand a ps1/ps2 converter to ps3/USB (windows 7) that is readily available to order? Even on chinese websites. Thanks, it’s mostly for a namco ps1 stick.
I use Brooks for PS4/D-input and Xtokki for 360/X-input.
Just tried and unlike what’s written on the original post, the Cube Joybox adapter isn’t compatible with the namco ps1 stick!
The tototek 2in1 is compatible with it tho.
Both seems to have 0 or 1 frames of lag, my test against a GC pad wasn’t very scientific.
Original post haven’t been updated in 9 years, go with StrtFghtrMstr recommendation
I was talking about gamecube converters for a specific ps1 stick, and what’s written on the OP. That was not related at all with my previous question about ps>usb. Pay more attention.
Thread is old but still one of the most relevant source of informations regarding old consoles converters compatibility and lag, and often appears on 1st page on google. Thought my experience could help someone one day.
Brook PS2 to PS3/PS4 adapter
I found an interesting combination to get a PS2 Street Fighter Anniversary stick with a Nintendo Switch. It uses a Game Elements PS2 to Game cube adapter and an official Nintendo Brand Game Cube adapter for Wii U. I found this order works best:
-
Plug the PS2 port into a Game Elements PS2 to Gamecube adapter.
-
Plug the official Nintendo GameCube Controller Adapter for Wii U into the Switch (I originally bought it for wii games that won’t work on the Wii U, like 3 of the Active Life games and Metal Slug Anthology, {which does work but you can’t use the game cube controller with it} But enough of this.)
-
Plug the PS2 to GC adapter into the Wii U Game Cube port adapter, With the PS2 connected to it on the other end.
-
Go to Controller options then change grip/order.
-
Press (using Street Fighter terms) HP and 3P to sync the controller with the Switch. I never played a Street Fighter game on the PS2 so I don’t know if HP and 3P correspond to L1 and R1 or R2 and L2. I righthanded my controller, and I swapped the punches and kicks when I flipped the directions, so the default programming is correct for Street Fighter. I can’t tell what the corresponding buttons are on the default maps.

The mapping is kind of funny for the QK, QK, MP, and MK. (I’m being optimistic to call light punches “quick punches”). Then again, I heard default mapping are weird on a Game Elements PS2 to GC adapter. That’s the price for better compatibility. Luckily most games have button remappers.
By the way. Thankfully I can righthand a PS2 Street Fighter anniversary stick. And thankfully the native formats are PS2 and Xbox. With PS2 adapters, It can work on systems as old as the Genesis, and maybe, if chaining adapters works, NES, 7800 and Colecovision Super Action,up to every system since except the Jaguar, and maybe the elusive N64 could work too if chaining adapters works. If chaining PS2 to GameCube to Switch works, maybe those other chains work too. It might work for the 2600 too. The only 5 that are left are Jaguar, Atari 5200, Intellivision, and Bally Astrocade (but I heard a simple pin swap mapper can fix that), and 2 Coleocvision games I have that seem to require a standard controller, which glitch with real Super Action Controllers. I don’t know if the Edladdin CV Adpater works on Activision Decathlon and QBert’s Qubes.
