Converter Compatibility Thread

I don’t get why you have to use this kind of tone with your post?

If you do know of a USB (360/PS3) to PS2 solution, then post the converter & show a link to where to buy it online.

what tone would that be, I’m just messing, I’m not being nasty, I’m not offending anyone. I’m just teasing, Of course I’m gonna tell you all, just wanna build up the suspense, I’m bored.
ANyways I’m sure some of you will kick yourselves when I tell you. And I think a slight bit of tech wizardry will be needed to make it a complete solution, but a solution it is.
Now the controller inquestion is a hybrid of 2 controllers, brought out specifically for a game made by capcom actually. The game is the best Gun game in my books, and killzone 3 with the move control is nothing new.

Drum Roll please.
Dino Stalkers on the ps2 came with a gun that allowed you to take control of your character, unlike time crisis which is on rails, you use a d-pad on the hilt of the gun [I think that whats it’s called] and allowd ou to take control, the game has some great gameplay, some fun varieties of ammo and is amazing. It didn’t get reveiws that reflect that for some reason. Anyway the gun is usb, and it has the d-pad and several butons, problem is, it doesn’t have the full array, at least. I don’t know if this is easy to fix or not, so I may have just got your hopes up, but it is a controller using the usb prt on the ps2. WOuld you like pics and further details. I hope I have helped and not made a tit out of myself lol.

The whole “Would i get nuff props if i put you out of you mysery” tone. That shit doesn’t fly here in Tech Talk.

First thing’s first, that’s not strictly speaking, a converted. In other words, it’s not something built to take the signal from a PS3 or a 360 USB PCB and convert it to PS2. Also, the fact that you’d have to padhack it into a stick begs the question, why use it at all when you can simply use a multi console PCB like Toodle’s MC Cthulhu for a custom stick? Especially since using this PCB would give you a PS2 only stick without the advantages of using a USB (which is allowing the stick to be used on PC/PS2 and even 360).

Why are you contradicting yourself. Firstly I asked the OP to clarify about the usb pS2 controller situation. I was made aware that usb controllers for the ps2 were non existent. I posted asking if people would like to know about such a thing, just incase it was late news. But you pull me up for posting in a cheeky manner but you do it using foul language.
Secondly after I ask if you would like to know, which you told me to go ahead, and in the post I clearly say I know it’s not the bestt solution, and I was under the impression that there was no way of contriolling a ps2 from the usb port. When I posted first time why didn’t you just sya then that there was already a method, you knew from my post that I thought there was a demand for anything close to a usb ps2 controller. I even said in my post that I hoped I hadn’t made a mistke, bu You more or less led me on so you could then throw it in my face. I won’t bother next time. I’ve just noticed are you a moderator aswell. Seriously that’s no way to behave. I’m sorry if being cheeky and teasing is offensive to some, but if there was really a big need for a way to control the ps2 via usb, then I had the golden solution not perfect but better than nothing. I just find your behaviour odd. So many people are down right rude on this site and I get ulled up by a moderator for that, while others can throw abuse at me. Then I offer some help after being made to beleive it was needed and told to deliver the post, then to be told why not use this existing solution. WHy try and do a power trip on me like that when I was just rying to be helpful you need to check what others are saying before u pull me up.

Sorry for this but it’s silly< we"re all here for the same reason. I have no intention of offending anyone. It’s annoiying when it feels like people are just waiting for you to slip up on spelling or something. And there are lot worse things being said on this site. It was obvious that i was not trying to offend anyone. Lets just discuss sticks politely.

First off, that does sound a tad tactless. Eh whatever.

Secondly, the idea with these adapters is to KEEP Playstation 2 Compatibility. While current Gen systems are doing well in the fighter department with SFIV & Marvel series, there were so many fighters released for PSOne & PS2(PS2 puts Dreamcast to shame, sorry DC fans).

Otherwise i’d have already pulled out my HRAP PS2 PCB and replaced with one of those spiffy Paewong Revolution PCBs for PS3+360 compatibility(PC compatibility without need of an adapter is a nice plus too).

So yeah, even if there was a hackable PS2 PCB out there w/USB also, i fail to see how adding a USB connection would make it compatible with these new systems also.

Edit: the idea of dual-modding crossed my mind but, i dunno if my HRAP case even has enough internal room for all that wiring insanity. Things seem a bit cramped even with just the original HRAP Pcb(I love the HRAP stick design/case btw, not changing for something else).

Well I checked with the OP and he said there was no controller that uses the ps2 port. I have one, and as there was a whole big discussion going on I thought I might be able to help. There is nothing wrong with what I’ve said. If you think using swear words, is some how more acceptable to me suggesting that a lack of methods to be able to connect a controller to the ps2 via usb has held a few people back with having gaming fun on there ps2 is crazy. And before I posted anything I more or less said what my solution involved, and was encouraged to continue. And `I said I hope I helped but knowing this site probaly not.
I’m not telling anyone what to do, I’m just saying that this might help in some way, I obviously got the urgency of the matter wrong. It’s no big deal. I read back what I say sometimes and think I sound like a tree hugging hippy, but I really can’t be bothered with all this nonsesnse that comes after.

PS2 games with USB controller support are game-specific.

That controller you mentioned won’t work in a fighting game any better than a racing wheel would.

First off, the reason I called you out wasn’t even for language (which we know isn’t an offense here), it was for how your post seemed to be intentionally calling out Kyle (the OP) for an apparent mistake.

Speaking of which, secondly, nowhere in the first post does it state that the USB port on the PS2 isn’t used. What is stated is that there is no converter that will allow a newer USB based (PS3/360) stick to work on the PS2. The modern USB stuff (PS3/360) requires a specific set of drivers. Meanwhile the PS2, or more specifically, the fighting games we play on it, only ever accepted the traditional O[]X/\L1R1L2R2 inputs from controllers connected to the proprietary controller ports.

Is the one in the OP still the only tested 360 > PS3 converter?

Ok I got my converters in the mail and I’m kinda pissed. I hooked it up with a wired controller and only the buttons work. The sticks are not working at all. I mentioned in my other post that I have 2 p360 sticks on ps1 dual shocks. Is this a problem for the blazepro converters?

Edit

I just tested with a japanese style stick with the same type of dual shock controller as my p360 sticks and it works. Problem is I got these only for the p360 sticks because they’re in an arcade cabinet and I already have 2 japanese sticks for my 360.

Does the Xconverter 360 work with p360 sticks? If not is there any confirmed converters that do work with those types of sticks that don’t lag? I just waisted my money on these damn things. I just need some good advice here.

ive been checking tototek regularly but they always seem to be out of stock of snes super famicom converters.

anyone know of any other place that sells converters to use ps1/2 pads on snes ??

Man, I missed all of the earlier fun with the USB guy. The only controller I am aware of that interfaces via USB is the Seaman controller. It is game specific like Kazujiro said. People have wanted to use their TE’s on the PS2 since the thing was released. That is what the OP is worded like it is. I would be very surprised to see a USB to PS2 converter. I don’t think it would be financially viable to produce.

Has anyone noticed input lag with Namco PS1 stick --> inpin?

So any word on perfect 360 joysticks working with xconverter 360. I don’t want to throw away any more money.

I never noticed lag, but that’s just me.

Nope. Have used a Namco PS1 stick with both an inPin and a Pelican and both work fine.

My general experiences have been that sticks that gave me problems with PS2 -> PS3 tended to work fine with the X-Converter (with the exception being the Namco which doesn’t output its directional inputs properly). The issue you seem to be having is one I also experienced recently in that when run through a converter the PCB isn’t able to supply enough power to the optical stick. I’m honestly not sure what the solution is to this.

Your jumping the gun there a bit m8y. I asked kyle, I never said what he said in the thread was wrong, and I just said I was under the impression. I’m sure kyle is flattered you came to his rescue, but all this is very over the top, just cause I don’t live in front of a video game all day doesn’t mean that everything I say that is different from what you guys say is wrong. I was only trying to help, and you all need to realise that, I have no intention of offending anyone. Everyone is equal, live in the real world not the game, use the game to be something you are not, don’t do it on here, I am actually started to feel insulted now. Even after I said I wasn’t trying to offend anyone, you all don’t listen.

Hiya,

The PS2 does not accept USB for game controllers. There is no such thing as a USB to PS2. It goes the other way PS2 to USB (for PS3).

Take it easy,
Kyle

Thanks for the reply. I actually ordered an xconverter to see if it works. I have other converters that work fine with these sticks already, just not for 360. I have ps to xbox and 2 types of ps to usb that work on ps3 and pc and they all work perfectly. Hopefully this one works for 360.

Probably my mind then, I hate when menu movement is delayed on purpose.
