It’s pretty awesome how for Roundhouse, a bunch of characters (Ken, Chun, Guile, Ryu…) actually did roundhouse kicks!
But in SF2WW, Ken/Ryu’s standing short and standing forward had the same animation…
“Fierce punch” was an awesome name for a punch, nevermind how much or how little sense it made. I’ll never understand why “strong punch” is the middle punch, though… I remember when I first saw they labelled buttons when I was young, I wondered which one is supposed to be “stronger”: “Strong” or “Fierce”

That’s…not really going to help with figuring out supers.
I’m not saying I don’t know how to read arrows + buttons. I’m saying they should have a picture which corresponds to the move. It’s the only way to confirm I’ve executed the move correctly and not have pulled off some other move.
I’ll try again, but I don’t have those games listed with me. If someone can lead me to a 3-buttoned freeware fighting game for practice…(I was thinking Super Cosplay Wars, but then I realized it was 4-buttoned.)
What you are describing IS Flavor. It has no relevance to the mechanics of the game at all. You are making mechanical judgements based on colored pixels that looks like punches and kicks. They are not punches or kicks at all. I do see where you are coming from and on some levels agree.

So what you’re saying is that you want a picture book…Right. Watch videos and practice. Not that hard.

Well, you do need some feedback to tell you if what you’re executing is weak or strong attack. It does not necessarily have to be punches or kicks, but those colored pixels should flag me by saying “your fingers are in the right place doing the right attack”.
Any ideas where to get videos for just the basic moves? Most of them are combo tutorials.
Also, any suggestion on free 3-buttoned fighters?
Your brain will give you that feedback when you look down and see what buttons your fingers are pressing.
…Unless you’re just mashing all the buttons at once, which would explain a lot (honestly man, the things you’re saying…)

Have you even read the post? Sometime I’m not even sure with the button assignments (because of other players constant reconfiguration). Besides, there is always the case of bad sticks.
There’s a long string of colored pixels that tell you the strength of the attack you’re using.
It’s called a lifebar.

This thread escapes me. Just…man…I hate this site so much.
Sounds like genuine inexperience to me. If you can’t figure out what attack you’re doing then you obviously need to play more. It’s not that hard to learn the attacks for whoever the select screen’s default character(Sol/Ryu/Cable/Heart/whatever) is.
Press button.
Character on screen does a move.
Mental note.
Oh.
Not sure?
Pause game.
Check buttons.
Press same button.
Character does move.
Oh shit.
They’re the same.
Guess this button does that move. Who would’ve thought?
