Deep? VF isn’t that much better. Game only uses 2 fucking attack buttons and is boring as shit. Tekken uses 4 attack buttons and has a more intuitive limb correlated combat system. Only game with a better control scheme as far as attacking goes is SF. VF tries to fool you into thinking it is deeper by making the combo inputs stupidly awkward, such as shit like:
back, forward p, down k+guard, forward p
Tekken keeps it simple but intuitive, and DOA is just fucking brainless ppppppppppppppppk combos.
I’m not gonna lie, the whole, “Let’s support the fighting game community by liking everything” mentality isn’t exactly the best one to have. If a game is stupid/sucks, there’s no reason to support it. Unless of course, you actually like the game, but that doesn’t mean everyone should because there’s a pseudo hostage situation with fighting games. Though, most people here already don’t like DOA, so it’s kind of a redundant thread to make. I also admit that I’m not a fan of the P+K input system. Dial a combos aren’t exactly that fun, and the whole system is kind of shallow.
Well can’t force people to play something they don’t like… I’m kinda hanging up VF until the newest revision is released in the U.S…
I didn’t feel it at first, but now I’m feeling abandoned by Sega:crybaby:… if by any chance VF5:FS does show up in the U.S, I’m playing that shit to death…
EDIT: @DOA Alias… it shouldn’t be that awkward when the arcade setup is only 3 buttons…
Meh, well as this srk site says, at least its not bashing SF which the move srk comes from. In DOA a person lands only 1 hit at a time unless they manage to stun someone long enough into a juggle, if a person in stun trys to counter their options are to fall to the ground or use a counter which a good player would either grab, use a different attack or kick them on the ground. Arguing is worthless but if anything trash players have a higher chance of winning in VF or SF or TK where dumbass combos show how dumbass people are. Playing a good player in DOA is a lot harder than playing a beginner, its all and only all about mind games. Also anyone who has ever went to the DOA tutorial, just with simple motions and that attack button there are over 50 different attacks and there are over 4-8 different counters depending on which update and over 4+ grabs depending on the character.
VF5:FS looks interesting, I do hope Sega ports it over here for the fans but they are very finicky when it comes to that, even getting cabs would be extremely difficult. I would support petitions and stuff like that for the community though, all things considering.
50 different attacks? Tekken characters have over 100 attacks. That’s far more depth than your little DOA game hahahaha
And trash players have a higher chance of winning in Tekken? Dumbass combos? This may come as a surprise to you, but in a real fighting game, when you are in hitstun, you can’t do shit. That’s how it always was, that’s how it always should be. DOA is the only fighting game where a combo doesn’t mean shit. I played that shit the other day, I had Zack and was punching that bitch Kasumi, bitch countered me as my fist was slamming into her face, wtf kind of broken shit is that? If I hit someone in a fighter, there better be a goddamned impact and them unable to fight back. Tekken is a hardcore fighter and more realistic. You honestly think if Kazuya punched someone in the face they’d just shrug it off and grab his arm as his fist is crushing their jawbones, and throw him away? Hell no. Their jaws would be discombobulated by his devastating punches.
Also 4 buttons for attack using limbs is superior to 2. last I checked, humans have 4 limbs, not 2. So why the fuck does one button control both arms and the other both legs? I can’t even make my character use the right or left arm on my own, it gets chosen for me. Fuck that shit, what if I want a left kick in DOA, I can’t even decide?
It’s not my fault Tekken is the greatest 3d fighting game ever made. The fact it has a tv show is proof enough how great it is. The closest you’ll get to a DOA tv show are those crappy cinemax movies.
DOA 2 and 3 were fun games but, they weren’t that great you could just spam that counter and eventually you would catch someone. None the less, they were fun.
DOA 4 wasn’t even fun. The introduced those tekken like juggles but, didn’t do it correctly and it lead to the game being pretty damn boring.
That’s my take on the situaton.
Also, as far as I know there is a split in the DOA community over the transiton from 3 to 4
I’m pretty sure he’s just trying to troll Bittersweet since the latter rubbed him the wrong way or something. Regardless this shit is just pathetic. It’s not even funny as a troll attempt.
I don’t remember there ever being a TV show for Tekken, just an OVA, which was bad and a live-action movie, which was so bad even Harada talked shit about it. And having a TV show based on a video game isn’t always that great. Look at the Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Darkstalkers cartoons.
