Wizard, and/or srk staff…
Im curious about something… how come tvc is only invitational? I mean, its a brand new game, you’d think its a given it’d be in as a reg. game in the roster.
Is it because there’s already a “vs” game in the roster?.. not enough time to run it?.. if so, why is there 2 hd remix tourneys?.. or maybe it’s not popular enough?.. isn’t really out in the us?
I have been asked this a lot and Im actually wondering the same thing… any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. thanks
It has no us release and we dont know if the community is going to play it, this is a great way to gauge if the game has any merit or not.
There are a handful of players out here in the US doing their part to keep the TvC scene up and running. I’m not gonna give out any specific names, but acknowledging the people that post up insightful stuff and good match videos is best way of showing that this game does have a lively player base and deserves more hype.
I am going to start throwing a TvC biweekly ranbat over at Denjin arcade. Hopefully it contributes to the selection of this event. We do have a hand full of players in SCV and Simi and it is growing since people are watching us play and also people are interested in this tournament. The ranbat will start beginning of March.
I only play the game if I see others playing it. It’s really bland if you’re playing by yourself though. Playing with others is just much better. Anyway, I’ll start playing this game more since it’s at Evo and I hopefully can make the cut.

Slash wasn’t the first Guilty Gear game out though, there were a few out and getting serious play before that one. TvC doesn’t yet have the full established community that GG had when Slash came out.
I’ve been having a hard time finding people to play with because those that do down here in SoCal are so spread out & Denjin is really far away from me! I’ve been way excited about this since I played the beta last year at Evo! I have a copy of the game, but again it’s been hard to get with people that are interested. Hopefully, Hellfromabove’s ranbats will help get some of us SoCal names that want to be in the Evo tourney out there!
I was just thinking, I remember back at EVO, one of the characters (Ken) was removed from the game due to legal issues about the character appearing in the US. Are all of the characters going to be selectable this time for the EVO tournament or are there still legal issues?
hope i can get invited. i play this shit too much.
We’d have a bunch of lawyers at EVO approving/disapproving of our character selections. Highly unlikely.

sounds good, thanks for the response wiz…
IMO all characters should be allowed to be played

I think that’s because the board was provided by the game makers themselves (yes?). This time, it’s just a bunch of guys providing their own systems and games. Might still be some very minor legal issues (like with any Japanese game being played over here), but I don’t know if it would even be anything worth sending a suit over to say “NO U”. Kinda like all the Japanese DDR mixes you see across the USA that state the “ONLY FOR USE IN JAPAN” or whatever warning before the title screen.
If they had Capcom make them an English version of the game that was playable on American Wii systems, then I’m pretty sure it’d have roughly half the characters it has now.
War Destroyer wants in on this…
Seeing that July is just a few months away, how (email, PM, post in this EVO discussion thread, etc.) and when will players start getting notified about being invited to the invitational?
dont worry guys,
just be nice to me and you might get a chance in the invitational ^_~
