Mixah and Manx: What do y’all think about this?
Got it a few days ago.
I don’t know much about RAM. I just got it mainly cuz it was hella cheap, 2GB, and it looks pretty dope.

Patriot’s good.

umm… TS… are you putting it in backwards? turn that shit around. ?

and OCK… personally, i think a-data sucks balls.

No, it’s not backwards, though I tried it backwards just to be sure, of course, and the slot was even further away from where it’s supposed to be. So I’m guessing this is just a bad card and I need to go exchange for a new one?

i doubt it’s a bad card, but it’s possible…

i really am out of ideas :(. i don’t think you’d have SD ram in there… i don’t know… bleh. never had a problem like that. sorry :frowning:

Son of a bitch.

So it looks like my PC may be a t5408A, instead of a t5048. Box says t5408, and so does the sticker up front, but my System Properties menu says it’s an A, as does a different sticker on the PC.

5408A uses DDR2 RAM, where as the other one just uses DDR.

Son of a bitch…

 there u go!

yeah, ddr2 is only slightly different than ddr. that would explain it.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good dvd decoder/viewer (like vlc). The problem for me is i find vlc won’t play some movies, like it’ll try to load it, then it just hangs, and sometimes I’ll get the movie to load, then it’ll skip frames like a bitch. Thanks

MPC - media player classic, i think it’s called.

okay, i think i have a SLIGHT problem with my laptop/laptop battery.

apparently, when it’s just running on battery power, there’s like a high pitch noise that my laptop makes. (it’s hard to describe. it’s sort of like a squeal. and i know this sounds bad, but it’s like an electronic noise.)

but, when my laptop is plugged in, it doesn’t make the noise anymore. so, i’m assuming there’s something wrong with my battery?

Could be the transformer that drops mains voltage to something the battery can handle. Noisy transformers aren’t necessarily bad.

When it won’t charge, then you know something is wrong.

okay, cool. thanks.

i don’t know it was just bothering me because i could hear the sound in my earphones when i plugged them in.

i second that

but…

it could also be a bad fan… when fans go slow, at times, they get noisy (the opposite of what they’re supposed to do), but it’s typically a dust build-up.

open the laptop up, get a can of air and spray the fans out.

if yo’ure hearing it through the sound, as in, part of the sound and not just over the blockage of your headphones, then it might be something else, as in a mobo thing. if you’re hearing it over the headphones, then it’s just really annoying at that point.

alright, i’ll check that out too when i go back to school tomorrow. thanks for the help guys.

im having a strange problem
fresh copy of XP and it installs creative audigy WDM drivers for the sound and everything.
works fine untill i restart and then theres no sound untill i uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers.

anybody got a clue as to why it does that?

that used to happen to me. does your motherboard have onboard sound?

Sup guys, i have been looking for a cheapass or affordable mp3 that i could just listen to music but apparantely they’re sold out and this is the only one i could find online. What you guys think?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8553834&st=mp3&type=product&id=1188561248598

I don’t care about videos, or whatever. I just need an mp3 with just for listening to music THAT’S ALL. Should i get it or not? Is the price a good deal or a ripoff?

P.S I’m not very high on cash, i’m a poor kid. I know most of you on here will be throwing out money like nothing compare to my mp3, but ye i don’t have much. That’s why i’d be so happy if i have some type of mp3 that lasts long and have decent songs storage.

no theres actually a sound card (!)
this isnt my computer and its actually a gateway :lame:

Hey all…how’s this board?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030

Last question, I swear, haha. Then I’ll get to ordering the damn thing…

Download CCCP. It’s Combined Community Codec Pack. It has Windows Media Player Classic and zoomplayer in there as well. Both work great. The choppiness in VLC is probably because it’s missing a particular codec. It’s not so great with mkv files.

I can’t comment, but it’s a bit expensive. I dont’ know exactly what you’re planning to do but you can save some money buying another board. This is the one I have now and I have no complaints whatsoever about it. Also, it’s very colorful.
