i swear to god i think capcom listen to the idoits when it came to gen, because i just watch a video with keyboredcat vs Gootecks and they said his bnb mk hands was op and now he has to use his normals. god i love when people say shit and they have no idea what the fuck they are talking about.
looks like the videos are from East Coast Throwdown 2
or maybe it just the usually bad announcers on these type of videos.
yea it just annoying i don’t say anything about anyone else character if i dont know how their moves work, if it pisses me off then i look it up how it works.
but anyway looks like Oklahoma might get a tourney starting up, even talk about us chipping in for a converter incase someone dont have a ps3 stick since it think they are doing it on ps3. im still going to buy me a ps3 stick tho. im not sure but i heard the converter lags a bit. overall im happy tho because it will help my game a lot more playing more local events.
I dont think Capcom was listening to the commentators from tourneys when deciding on their balance changes. They said in their Dev Blog that SF4 Gen used too much st. MK -> hands and they had to tone it down so that he would be more like alpha.
hey guys…first time in this section of the forums…kudos to yeb, redwolf and the rest of u guys for showing the old man love
umm just checking it says on the first page that ex oga is strike invincible? i may be getting something mixed up but i get dp’ed up the ass if i try to ex oga on wake up.
and also did gen have recovery frames on stance change in vanilla cuz i dont think i ever had a fear of getting hit cuz i was changing a stance then. pisses me off now. like how can u make something like that unsafe??? and adon gets a gazillion safe armor breaking special moves.
it actually says that the waterfall kick EX (gekiro EX) has strike invincibility… not the EX oga as you also said, which doesn’t
the EX Oga kept the invincibility to projectiles though :\
about the 5 frames of recovery for switching between stances, yup, that was in vanilla too… as a matter of fact i had that fear of changing stance when i was too close also in vanilla
ah ok thanks for clearing that up dont know why i only really felt the recovery in super…never really had that issue. guess u change stances more with experience. when i was learning i pretty much stuck with whatever stance i started the round with XD lol
yeah, cuz 5/5 was really overpowering when most of the cast have like 4-6 matches.
like i said before, he did gain some buffs, but theres more nerfs than buffs.
i wonder how good gen would be when they give him back his sf4 tools (crazy meter building, mk xx hands x2, low jump mantis, invincible ex oga) along with the buffs (fadcable hands after the second hit, +6 on his lp, quicker oga, buffed up gekiro, numerous buffs on his crane stance normals)
would that make him top tier and overpowering?
if capcom did give him back all those tools, he might be top tier or high mid but i highly doubt he’ll be anywhere as good as vanilla sagat still.
haha i will take that played a little gen tonight and i was looking for good players but it was either i get rush down since gen cant take pressure well or we play a little footsies. expect i get hit with more damage punish hahaha.
it was fun i did okay against people i could tell where good. oh playing online gief is annoying. i swear i escape gaaaaa im dead haha.
still gen so much fun to play, the old man is bad ass.
yep i agree he was mid tier in the last game, most of his match up where 5-5 if i remember correctly. so if he keep all his good things from the old version except mk into hands loop plus with his new links and new gekiro he would be high tier. i dont really think top tier but high tier for sure.
Any tier list placement in vanilla was IMO invalid because 1. Most were made in the beginning of the game coming out on console which is when he was weakest. 2. It was VERY probably created by someone with no matchup experience with/against a good gen. Which resulted in a lot of guesstimations as to where the match-ups would fall.
Compare it to how the tier lists fell in to place when super came out. We are finding out now that a lot of those match ups are not as they were placed.
well I trust you, also happened to me and sometimes happens to shotos trying to DP
anyway I was just reporting what the first post says
and I dont actually know how many and which frames of strike or throw invincibility the EX gekiro has… now that yeb doesn’t main gen anymore we have noone else telling us this kind of stuff :\
