Each gen makes building teams harder and harder. I cannot counter everything I’d like to see what everyone else is making. I mean damn…6 mons and 24 moves cannot do it all. My main thing is to handle the hot mons like the tapus. All of them can be troublesome.
While no you can’t check everything, you can make a team in which a tapu lele + scarf excadrill duo doesnt roflstomp your team. You should always strive to beat everything you can. Teams are going to have weaknesses but it should be a small weakness, not a large one.
Yeah the game would be lame is you could create a team that could handle everything. Every team should have some flaw in it, but not huge ones like you said. Also anyone know when dream world abilties will be available? Can’t wait for intimidate Incineroar
I get that and this is why I ask what is everyone working on team wise. I may not participate in Tounies here or give much advice competition wise but I always try to make new teams and hope something new can be used. (and at least I have something to show for it over others who are all talk) Celeesta does work but then I lose a spinner @BullDancer and gain another weakness to electric attacks…something that is more common now than before.
You can say you make new teams when it’s the same archetype EACH AND EVERY TIME. You might switch pokes but it’s the same team every time with basically all the same issues. I’ve tried helping you and you basically turn it away
Stop trying gimmicky mons if you want to get better, learn the meta first and then expand out. Dont use a mon because it’s different, use it because it actually has a purpose and make sure nothing else does it’s job better
Your way of helping doesn’t help me. I never asked you to judge what I have anymore because you’re forcing me to play a style I don’t like. This is a new meta that still needs more time to grow. Again in earlier gens things were easier but with each one not only is it getting harder to handle things but i don’t have the time to dedicate to making calculations/study everything. I play what I like. Isn’t that why we all play?
Again post what you use and have some semblance of it in action. I’m calling everyone out on this! I don’t see anyone else here doing def and stall but me. Offense is easier to do and got easier thanks to megas and now Z moves. How much has defense and stall gained? Less and less because with each gen we get new things but so does offense.
But hey at the end of the day, I’m still happy with what I use outclassed or not.
I have never forced you to use a style. Ive suggested pokes to make whatever the hell style you want to run better. (by the way, you’re team archetype has never been a successful team to run and only works on bad players).
Do not call us out. Please, you see what happens with po (im not calling you out po, dont take this the wrong way). We dont need another one of those.
I like what I use and I play a style I’m happy with. I’m only calling people out because no one here really discusses team dynamics much nor posts things that they use. If everyone is so good here, why are we not sharing more what works? We used to do that years ago.
You have taken no ones advice, you want to get better at the same time you dont. Im not saying my advice is always correct or the best. I am saying that you post something, it’s going to be critiqued. This is a competitive thread for pokemon. We have discussed what is useful and what isnt and you somehow have ignored all of it. I’ve given you advice on how to get better and what you can do to get better even when no one else would.
>.> come on dudes lets get it together, this thread isn’t off to a good start with all the jabbing. I like the advice people give in here it’s something to consider, but at the same time I’ve played Infernoman in pkmn for years and I’m confident he knows what he’s doing. He’s a stall expert, that’s how he wins. He gets you to quit or you’re in for a loooooong battle, a tough one at that.
@ephidel Mixed dragonite is actually a cool idea on a ladder format. Jirachi randomly became popular during Gen 6 after people had given up on steel psychic types because it has good defense and support moves.
After Jirachi dies, you randomly lose to psychic moves getting spammed at you, so I’d probably start with gearing your set away from offense. So you can get some random DragMag type of thing going on imo.
Roserade is butt. If I’m in OU, I’d probably play literally ANYTHING else. Chuck Amoongus up there or something. I’m not trying to give you a super serious team or nothing, but try it out lol.
@Ephidel naw man its cool. Each game has brought too many variables for me to factor. Back then I had all the time in the world to play. Teams were more defined along eith the pokemon. Today I slap teams together in 5-10min after my long shifts and just have fun online. I like to compete…but on my terms. I’ll just take a break again. I haven’t even finished my copy of Moon yet and I did say I would make one competitive team this gen.
Either way, I’ll come up with something else again.
You’re right though I was thinking about that when making this team! Goddamn random Psyshocks will destroy poor Snorlax
I needed a fast sleeper who could potentially put a counter to sleep and spread spikes. Spikes + S/R is sooo good, but with the new mechanics setting them up is hard. I got worried about Fairy and all their resistances too, but she just can’t keep up with the OU ladder yup. I’ll tweak this team out a bit, man that was my first battle in years feels pretty good.
