Columbia, SC: "Vox Veritas Vita"

answers in bold
On the issue of mobility:, he’s slow as shit in human form, but wolf is second only to Tao, and even that’s a maybe. The drawbacks are 1. Being in wolf form is a huge red flag that u cant block 2. wolf movement eats meter faster than anything else by far, and running out of wolf meter mid combo will ruin your day and 3. Running away with it is awkward, since 4c/7c are more like feints (human backdash is pretty good tho). Wolf cancel stuff is fantastic for getting him around, but in small, very carefully chosen doses. The jump DCDC i used alot at the last tournament is pretty much a full screen IAD j.C and its probably the absolute most basic thing you could do with wolf cancels. For example if ragna tried to 6a that setup you could just bait with with D>7/4c and punish the whiff.

Hello anyone home

Here’s the latest tier list for IPW. I feel it’s a bit lulzworthy, but it is early after all.

Phoenix and Haggar revealed for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 : News : EventHubs.com

Phoenix…why you lookin so gdlk??

Gaaaah!! Now my team choice has gotten more complicated. Dora, Morrigan, Phoenix, Zero, Dante and Spencer are looking like like my favorite characters right now. Maybe I’ll make a Phoenix/Spencer/Morrigan team and have Zero/Dante/Dora. Mahvel just got more hype!!

Phoenix? You mean Capcom listened to me? Holy fuck… I feel so special.

Now give me John Talbain and my life will be complete.

I’m of the opinion that in terms of a “state” team, that it’s fairly obvious who should definitely be on the teams with the exception of 1-3 slots.

ie:

BB: Keyon, Thomas, Ben, Dave
SF: Ryan, Xavier,
T6: Ahmed, myself, Anthony, Justin

I said this last time, but I think having a tournament and giving the spot to the “winner” is flawed. It doesn’t necessarily create the best team, it just happens to put the guy that happened to win a qualifier for it. With how varied tournament results are now, I like the idea of captains discussing who they think they can work with best on the team. While there are individuals playing, there is very much a strategic team atmosphere (ie: Does somebody on your team have a character who has a good match up against your character’s bad match ups?). Just imo though =D

SF team is the most interesting imo. A lot of possible combinations there.

Valkenhayn hype train!

So last night’s session with Ben proved to be fruitful. I came to the immediately understanding that noone wants to be fatal countered by him as Ben bursted the very second he was fatal’d. Though I cannot seem to make up my mind. What’s easier to hit with? 6B FC or 6C FC? Your thoughts Casey, since I know you’re lurking in the shadows. I know that he has some risky frame traps to attempt to get it with 6B, but even then, if your opponent is looking out for them ( And they should because 6B fatal counter leads to a 6.3k combo with 50 meter ) then getting it to hit can prove to be… hard.

6B, 2A, 2C, 236B, (Rapid) 5B, J.B, 214B seems to be character specific. 214B wiffs on Makoto during this combo. Works on anyone of Ragna’s size atm, so if I get an opportunity to today, I’m gonna continue to test it. Perhaps I just need to SJ.B to hit small hit box characters? I haven’t figured out what I am gonna continue the combo with yet. Should I D, 236B or 7D, J.A x3 and do the normal bs? I think the direction I was wanting to go with this is to end with 236236C if I can manage to get the meter.

That’s another thing, I am only subpar at transforming back to human to continue my attacks in the air. I want to become more efficient at doing that before I get into the combos in the corner to end with strum wolf. ( But they’re so fun… and damaging! How could I ignore those!? )

@Tsurael once again: I took your advice and started to mess with my timing and spacing during those transitions and noticed an immediate difference. Now I just got to get J.B, ( Land ) D, 5B, Strum wolf down. But as mentioned above, I’d like to learn other combos before I perfect something as trivial as that.

I felt like I’ve betrayed Dora…and Byron.

@ Icege: I understand where your coming from in regard not wanting to have qualifier to teams. My thought is this that if a player is skilled enough to win or place well in tournaments, then doing so in a qualifier should be no different. It also shows who really wants its, by taking the time to attend.

I consider Byron the captain for SSFIV teams mainly because he’s placed consistently well in every local and out of state tournament more than anyone else in SC last year. The same would go for Keyon in BBCS, etc.

Now since Byron is already fine with having qualifiers for SSFIV, that’s how this team will be handled. If the captains for BBCS (Keyon) or Tekken (Ahmed?) wanna do something different, then that’s fine.

@ Usagi: I didn’t know you’d like Phoenix O.o

Well, I’ve been keeping up with these faster-paced fighters ever since X-men: Children of the Atom ( CotA for those who’ve been playing them like myself ) and Jean Grey was playable in that one. From then, I always thought " Phoenix is eventually gonne be in the next game like this and she’s gonna be awesome. " No appearence in Marvel Super heroes, X-men vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Street Fighter, MvC1 or MvC2 ( which I REALLY thought she’d make an appearence, instead they make that abomination of a character Ruby Heart. ) So, when I heard that 3 was coming around I was like " Ok… she’s GOTTA be in this one " and there she is. 10+ years too late, but it’s ok.

Now, give me John Talbain and Stryder so I can go back to my happy place.

EDIT: Someone make me a good Valkenhayn avatar! Stat! D: My character switch has been officially made. Also, what is the plan today?

@ Thomas: I told you that Valk was fun to play, lol. Although I enjoy playing Hakumen more (yes, I like Hakumen), Valk is awesome. I can’t wait to see what broken crap you can do with him. Are you and Ben planning on going to Nashi today? If not, I’ll just sit at home, practice SSFIV and be a stream monster. I can also make an avatar for you, when I get off of work.

Well now your whole hype behind Phoenix makes sense. I use to play CotA with my friends in middle school, but never anything serious.

Phil thinks Nashi won’t happen this week.

There’s a lot more to it than just enjoying him. Also, none of the things I am going to be do are going to be considered broken. I understand Casey’s love for 2C, but I’ve fallen for his entire moveset… save for his 5A. That thing is ass. Valkenhayn in the hands of me isn’t going to be a damage dealing monster at the moment due to my still learning certain combos ( and combos that are otherwise considered useless… but that’s why I’m learning them. ) but he’ll definitely be something to gear. As for the avatar? I won’t demand too much out of you.

So is Nashi really happening today? That’s what we’re all trying to figure out. If that’s the case, myself and my partner shall be there. Of course, we’re hoping there will be more Blaz players there to enjoy our hype session. Otherwise, it’s another day in the lab for the both of us.

That’s 4 weeks and counting.

EDIT: People are changing into things that suit their playstyle more. Which would make perfect sense. I actually suggest that everyone does that for whatever game they play. Playing the character you like is one thing, but if it isn’t working out for you and others start to take notice, that’s the time when things should be questioned. Switching to Valkenhayn opened my eyes to a lot of things… and I ultimately feel better now that I am using him. If you like Haku-men more other than the fact that he is higher on the tier list, doing much more damage with minimal effort and things of that nature… then congratulations! You’re now playing the cahracter you probably should’ve been playing from Jump Street.

Relaunch Jump 2A dustloops take effort, okay?

Fuck they do?! Oh shit, I better play Haku-boy, then. I wanna be apart of that effort train. D:

@ UsagiPower: I didn’t want to admit it at first but really like playing as Hakumen. Also, watching the Japanese Haku players inspired me even more to play him. His damage output is nice, but I would have chose another character if I wanted someone for mainly that.

@ KidViper: Well if Nashi isn’t happening, I guess I’ll see some of you guys at Maddness tomorrow. Time to go in my cave now

Hagger WTF

Damn will capcom ever learn to balence their games.

No bull, I jizzed hard after watching the Haggar Trailer. That totally came outta left field. POWAHBOMB!

You guys have a great time @ the Bi-Weekly, maybe next time I’ll be able to rep the Thigh…HOSENKA!
