Well you should never rule out retardation but personally I don’t think it makes much sense to trust tier lists when the game is so new… I’ve heard disagreement on Cammy and Fei’s placement before too.
Pat: Right now I think all people can say for sure is Akuma’s hella stupid good. I’ve heard a lot of the characters didn’t move around much, their bad matchups just got a lot closer.

I can see cammy being bottom, as aaron told me fei does everything cammy does…but it hurts more.
Even if she is bottom, she’s better than she was in Vanilla ST for certain. only a couple of really bad bad matchups, like Honda, Akuma (who is in a ban debate, i wouldn’t be shocked to see it happen, he’s the only out of balance character in the game).
Cammy has a lot of uphill battles tho, can’t say so much about fei since i know very little about how he works.

I’ll be disappointed if the Street Fighter community ends up banning Akuma the same year that the supposedly ultra-scrubby Smash community decided against banning Metaknight, who dominates Brawl harder than Chun/Yun dominate 3S and harder than Eddie or Ky ever owned GG. And probably harder than Akuma dominates HDR.
ashy knuckles - I have a copy of TDC Final v2 you can have. It’s basically a compilation of all the Capcom 2D fighting games on DC w/ a built in browser. Ikaruga is also on there and will crash the game sometimes, so i wouldn’t try it. Let me know when you want to come pick it up?
I think cammy will end up being low mid. her cannon spike is like the new blocked T hawk dive(vanilla T hawk bounce back). some chars are better at punishing a block CS than others. some chars shut down her drill too. like ryu low strong. Feilong just seems sooooooo bad. I’d love to see a really good hdr fei, possibly a japanese player.
With the initial shock of HDR gone, I have a fairly strong feeling that tiers will stay mostly the same. Most characters did not get changed enough to move them around as much as they made bad matchups less bad. Exceptions to the rule are Sagat, who’s no longer 2nd but probably still top, and Guile, who probably moves up a spot or two given rh flash kick. Chun probably moves down a notch or two as well with loss of d/f rh.
Fei’s making me wonder as well. I’ve been reading about him, and it looks like he still may be solid, you just have to play him completely different from how he was played in original ST. I’m talking point-blank sh. chicken wing and stuff like that.
I’ve made another mistake in that i’ve started playing a game and picked one of the characters with the most problem matchups. It sucks cuz i like cammy a lot, but man there are some fights that are so damn hard. Granted i don’t expect to do great being an ST newb, but when i lose to honda who do nothing but headbutt/buttslam on reaction, that stings.
I kinda want to learn claw, i think he’s really cool, but the desync issue on line makes it a struggle to want to do it. I might have to figure out some other chars that are interesting.
I’m on the fence about Akuma. I don’t think he’s broken, every char CAN beat him, even if it sucks. That being said, the game becomes exponentially more balanced if he’s removed from the equation. It’s ST, i’d say 90% of the game has been pretty well figured out (considering it is more or less a 15 year old game). That last 10% is akuma, and I only see him getting better, he just has too much for most characters to deal with.
I can easily see HDR being a way more interesting tourney game with Akuma gone in the long run, but thats a sketchy arguement to call the banhammer for.
Either way, i need to find a new character to play alongside cammy, i tried sagat but i’m just not a huge fan of his style. I’ll have to try some characters i really havent toyed with yet like Chun/blanka/boxer.
one way to look at cammy is, she is still cammy. when i first saw her lk drill i immediately thought: she’s gonna be top. But on paper she is still the same, and still has a lot of bad matches. Ken might be the new chun(no bad match-ups), but it’s early to say. one interesting thing about ken is he might be closer to ryu now instead of living in his shadow? And if he’s still in ryu’s shadow, i think it might be by a little less now.
what’s going on tonight? all this talk of hdr is getting me frisky.
