What happened to the wreck room?
They got in too deep on some kind of restaurant/expansion thing and couldn’t make their money back on any sort of reasonable timeline.

anybody know how i could contact the people who owned the wreck room? i’m thinking of opening a gaming center similar to what they had. also, any suggestions as to what you’d like to see in such a place would be handy as well. (i realize a few arcade games would be preferred by people on this forum, any idea where i could get them easily?) thanks in advance for any info.

You’re welcome in my house on the 18th too, but we’re leaving town early in the morning on the 19th (I just found this out) so you’d have to leave before then. Kind of pointless. Let me know. polygrant - http://www.coinopexpress.com/ and trading forums on random boards are where I got most of my arcade PCBs. The console versions of most newer fighters are fine, just avoid DC 3S and Alpha 3 (and maybe ST too? Josh?). Some of the old games are cheap enough that they’d make good novelty pieces if you’ve got a cabinet or supergun lying around, I don’t know what kind of money you’re looking at spending but (and as an arcade purist I hate to say this) most games have satisfactory console versions. The big games here are GGXX#R, Tekken 5, and Third Strike. Sorry to say I don’t have information on how to contact the owners of the Wreck Room. I think only one of them even lives in town anymore.

console games are … okay, I guess?:shake: but I prefer the real deal. But then again this is Columbia, and 99.9% of people are fucking stupid:mad: and don’t know the difference anyway.

As far as getting arcade equipment, if you really wanna get arcade boards you might want to forget about game cabinets, they’re big, expensive, and require maintenance. You can play arcade PCBs on MAS SUPER NOVAs. Go to www.massystems.com to check 'em out.
Game boards are really cheap on Ebay. Just be careful on who you buy from. I’ve bought over 20 games on ebay and they all work great except one. www.coinopexpress.com has great variety but they’re expensive and located in hong kong so most games are asian or jap. and S&H ain’t cheap.
I don’t know who or how to get ahold of the wreck guys but you could always talk to some REALLY successful peeps in the LAN center biz. LANWERX is a gaming center in seattle, talk to them.

yeah, i know gunther’s is the only real arcade in town. i’ve been there a few times, but only for the pinball (that’s my arcade addiction–not that i’m good, just enjoy playing it). my original plan for opening a gaming place was for computer games, but the more people i talk to the more i’m leaning toward getting a few consoles–like what the wreck room had. if i get any arcade games they’ll be very few, my current space i’m looking at will be rather small (~1000 sq. ft).

does anyone know if the gaming biz for wreck room was very profitable for them? my wife is reluctant to let me open the business for fear of loosing lots of money (a valid concern). i think there is excellent potential and that it would do well. that’s one reason i’d like to get in contact with the wreck room guys, in hopes of putting to rest any fears of going broke. and avoid any mistakes they made.
the current time-line for getting up and running with the PC games would be about mid/late february (pending funding–i meet with the bank this week). i’ll try to keep people posted, in case they care.

No no, I ain’t no good at A3 either. Don’t worry. I noticed you posting in some A3 threads, everyone else I’ve seen in MO seems to hate the game. The only game I’m all right at is #Reload.
Anyway – if you can come down Friday instead of Saturday and leave Saturday night, that would work better. I have to leave town on Sunday. But don’t worry about it too much.

Sorry about Puzzle Fighter, it’s broken but I still really like it just for the soundtrack and the crazy little Capcom people. I’m telling you, Puyo Puyo and Tetris Attack are where it’s at… Tetris Attack especially because whether you’re playing the stupid vs. mode or the two-player time attack mode, you can’t put people into situations where they’re just completely dead and there’s nothing they can do. Puyo’s got the sliding slope problem, sort of.
