Andrew, you got disqualified because of a pause? Was it in the middle of like the other guy doing a big combo that would’ve killed you or was it like in a really pointless point in the round?
Man, going all the way over there and that shit happens…man, that sucks.
I’ve always been afraid of pressing start in a tourney but I’ve never done it at home playing against my brother so I hope it doesn’t happen. If the other guy I was playing presses start and he obviously didn’t mean to, I would let the game go on because I would feel so bad for him if he got DQ’d for it. Wait… does the tournament staff let you choose if you want the other played DQ’d if they press start? Or do they automatically DQ the player who pressed start, regardless of the other players opinion?
Anyways, I’ll play video games again in like a week or 2 cause after schools out I’m gonna be hanging out with my brothers in KC. Oh by the way, I’m in KC right now and my brothers , Shohaib and Shahab, are still in Europe. I went to the Ameristar Casino last night with my dad, and can you believe this, they had a Tekken Dark Ressurection Cabinet! I remember going there a while ago after someone told us there was a 3s machine so me and my brothers went to find only a Tekken 5 machine so we were kinda pissed off.
Anyways, I played some Dark Ressurection and beat some dudes at it. Yo hei taught me a bunch of shit with Steve. I can tell that Steve got worse but you can beat scrubs with any character. I beat the kid that was playin the computer pretty easily, I was worried at first cause he was asian but he was a scrub. Then this like 20 year old dude comes up and puts his memory card in and his fuckin game card thing in and sits down like he’s all badass. Then he picks Raven really fast like he knew what he was doing.
So I was like, damn, looks like he might be good. The round starts and His name is under the lifebar…I didn’t know you could do that shit! It says 8th Kyu under his name too, I have no fucking Idea what 8th Kyu meant but, it was a big number to me and that made me nervous, because big numbers can’t be good.
So then the round starts and motherfucking scrub does JUMPING PUNCH like all day! I was like what the fuck, I wish this guy would have done something better. So I beat him pretty bad and he was getting pissed, so he decided to play again, not letting the others behind him play, and I think he chose Eddie this time and mashed this time. (which was actually pretty tricky for me to beat him at first), Then I kicked his ass again. He was so pissed off at my scrubby ass Steve laucher that at the end of the game he took out his Game card all fast and shit like he was gonna rip it in half. He kept trying to block all my shit low, and he didn’t realize that you can’t block HIGH attacks LOW! So he left and there was now a crowd of like 4 or 5 people watching me play the computer, I kept doing the same combo, but they seemed amazed. Then some black dude comes in a plays me and gets his ass kicked. Then he leaves and I get to like the 6th stage and Some little asian kid asks, if he could play with me, and I saw yeah, getting nervous at this little 6 year old asian kid. Cause he’s asian. Then he sits down, and furiously hits the buttons and moves the stick, and I realize he thinks he’s the computer. I start laughing but I dont’ say anything to the kid, if he’s having fun then why bother him. But then my pride starts to kick in and say “SHEKEIB, HE THINKS HE’S BETTER THAN YOU IF YOU LOSE TO THE COMPUTER”. Then I got the feeling that the few people behind me, one dude was like 60 years old, thought that I was actually playing this little asian kid. So my low ass got really into making sure I beat the computer this round, and I did, right down to the 3rd round, and I even heard someone say “Awwww!” right as I won. THOSE DUMB MOTHER FUCKERS THOUGHT I WAS REALLY PLAYING A LITTLE KID! I got to Jinpachi and I died, and then the little kid thought he won. And as soon as I got up and left, he did too. But at that point I realized how stupid I would look if I put in another 2 tokens just to play him again.
After that I felt kinda like fighting games are really really dying. Even a game that looks as nice as Dark Ressurection still doesn’t have any good players. The people I played gave it one or two chances to beat me and then they left. I wish some dude came in there to kick my Steve’s ass. Then, I would’ve felt better about the scene, but no one came, just scrubs. Man, if there isn’t anyone playing Tekken DR then how the fuck do I expect people to start playing 3rd Strike? Maybe there is a Tekken DR scene in KC, I sure do hope there is, cause that cabinet would be going to waste. I guess all the scrubs put in enough money in it for it to have allready paid for itself.
Anyways, that was what I did last night, and I still plan on learning Tekken 5.
Fuck that was a long post.
I had just done a 50% damage combo and the other guy had two or three pixels of life left. I was going to go for the block damage kill but a pause happened in the middle of the command throw at the end of the combo. The way GG works you can’t really tell who paused, but the decision was made to DQ me… I don’t really feel bad about it because it’s not my call to make but I figured you guys would want to know

I got 3rd in cvs2, 4th in marvel, and 4th in ST…both losses in all games came to first and second so i didnt feel too bad.
My point being, anyone of you could have done quite well for yourselves, prolly woulda won 3s and had a shot at ST.
My other point, i wanna learn 3s and guilty and can drive within two months, anyone down to teach/travel to tournys with me?

Just got back from indy, omg so much fun. Drove there and back in the same day and had a great fucking time. I used to think it was nastalgia that made me look back on our old tournys with such fond memories, but nah. This one blew the rest away. Console so there was absolutely no “gear whining” as you guys like to call it.
The skill level varied greatly but everyone was having a good time, and then after the tourny it was money match time. Had to go make that paper yah feelz me.
Would any of you be interested in traveling to STL for a day for a console tourny? Im addicted to tournys again and i might as well throw one here while i wait to get my licsense back.
I hope there arnt some lame exuses to not come, im telling you guys it’ll be great. If you guys are down let me know what games you want and ill make it happen, its on KC/St. Joe/Columbia/and hopefully alot of the random illinois people i met at the tourny.
If everyone could send a couple people or more we could be looking at a nice 16 man plus bracket. Its been a while and i think im gonna revive the SMSC(show me state championships), who of you will vye for the title. Send everyone you got at us, you guys could help revive SF in missouri or help to let it die.
What do you guys think, one day out of your life or the death of competetive SF in western MO?
