I’m just curious what other people think of the Guilty Gear sticks at Gunther’s.
I told Josh today that a lot of people have been complaining about the sticks lately, and while I personally think at least 90% of my WTF moments are due to my own shoddy execution I am realistic enough to recognize that when I can run in and do 2K as a meaty and there’s a 60% chance it’s going to hit, there’s probably something wrong. Also when I see people dashing and trying to FD and getting gravedigger, or (figure this one out) super…
Anyway I’m curious what you guys think would work better. Japanese sticks are probably out of the question. Do you prefer to be able to feel the corners when you play? I have some trouble with IADs and I notice other people double-tapping the stick and just getting a normal jump. It’s been my experience that this is a lot easier on square-gated sticks. Double FB and HC supers can be tricky but GG is really forgiving when it comes to super motions (as anybody who’s ever gotten a random Millia super after FRCing a running disc can attest), plus supers suck balls so who even cares.
Also just to confirm, other people do get weird shit on the sticks, right? Josh tried to tell me I was the only one who had a problem with the sticks, which is funny because I get most of my shit on them and would gladly play a tournament on Gunther’s’ sticks over any other place. I know that Chris for example has problems blocking on some sides, Paul can’t get dashes, etc. If it were just a matter of being made the poster boy for complaints common among the majority of the player base (with which I don’t even agree… 
) I really wouldn’t care, but Josh has asked me to pay out of pocket for the sticks if Gunther’s does any work on them. I’m not trying to start anything but that doesn’t quite make sense to me. Slash has been taking in good money at Gunther’s and I don’t think it’s too much to ask that the sticks be replaced after a year and a half. I don’t know if asking someone who spends around $80 a month to pay a fraction of what the game makes in a week out of his own pocket for routine repairs makes a ton of sense.
When I was down there last…I had a hard time doing Blood Pack with ABA…and when I tried to do VT with Ky…I would get the HS SE…I thought it was just me…but since you spoke on the controls…I think they should get fixed up…I mean…if imma drive 121 miles back and forth…I want it to be worth it…not to leave early because the sticks don’t wanna work…because lil kids or dudes who don’t know what they doing beat the sticks up…yes Andrew…it does make a ton of sense for routine matainance…
Good god does that piss me off. I agree, I wish we had new sticks; going for an iad or JI divine blade combo and getting either a) nothing or b) a sweet jump forward is not helping…with that said, however, I talked to josh about it after you left and he basically told me it isn’t going to happen because Gunther’s just doesn’t have the money. :sad:
