Appreciate the good words on my Ky KrushGroove… WE had some good close games but u definitley beat me fair and square man… If u come down on Thursday im for sure gonna come play some 3s with u to check out your skills.
Hell yea Andrew. Id like some more of your advice on mixups and things of that sort… Gunthers Tuesday about well… anytime b/f 2:00 cause i have class from 2:00 to 3:20… Oh yea… If youd still like to take a train to Chicago i got some info tonight and found we could take one from either Jeff City or Laplata for $100 round-trip… If youd like me to look more into just tell me… It would save us both money and it would be much faster than a bus… Just a suggestion… Gunthers tomorrow (Monday) as well at 1:00… Peeps should come down …
AKA- Thanks, man! I’ll try to be in Columbia around 9. If anybody can meet me up at Gunther’s, I would appreciate it. Of course, it would be ironic if I was peaced out of #R by the guy who brought me to the tourney…
Hey, Andrew, do you know how you’re getting to Chicago…help a brotha out.
We could go Greyhound or skateboarding.
Or Amtrak…
Which ever way, I’ll get there.
OH, and on a lighter note…
SHEKEIB OWNS JARREN!
IN 3s, Slash, Hokuto no Ken, ST, T5, 3rd Strike: Second Avenge, Making PB&J sandwiches, spinning back kicks to the throat, CVS2, MVC2, and other broken as hell games.
Man yall think yall could stop through NE and get me? I dont think I’m gonna have enough ass room in somebodys car cause people booked seats and I didn’t know about it. I know thats a bogus request but its kinda close we got to MO in 4 hrs just wondering. If not I wont hate yall.
So…lemme get this straight…you guys aren’t down for riding with me to Chicago? Despite my earlier post? Y’know, just because Andrew doesn’t want to ride down, doesn’t mean everybody else has to bail. I thought Jarren, Shekeib, Paul, and KrushGroove were supposed to be riding down with me?
Jaren, I am really sorry I couldn’t make it to Gunther’s today but I am so sick I can’t stand up for more than a few minutes. I didn’t make it to class, either.
I’m going to PM you my cell number, you can call me whenever.
The problem with Amtrak is I don’t know how easy it is to get a ticket. One of the fun things about their web site is that it’ll show you prices for tickets, then when you place the order it’ll say “By the way, you need to wait two weeks for the ticket to get there, is that cool?” It’s stupid. If you know of a way I’d prefer to go via Amtrak.
We should stay at the Red Roof Inn because it’s not very expensive and it’s very very close to Nickel City (one-minute walk). I think there might be a housing offer going around for certain people, but I haven’t had the chance to look into it since I’m, you know, possessed right now. Traditionally Chicago doesn’t really house out-of-towners since they all live really far away from Northbrook.
Aaron, I should have my own ride, thanks for the offer though. I figured your car would be packed. I thought Paul and Jarren were getting a ride with you too. Who else from STL is coming with you Aaron?
Andrew we should split the cost of red roof and maybe even have another person. It will be a lot nicer to be in a hotel in my opinion, Its worth it. We could even invite people up to play, but we might just want to get some sleep in other than getting tired of playing all night and not being ready for the tournament.
Plus, we’ll get to have showers. That will make the trip 10 times better.
I’ll hate the nasty feeling of ass-soup all over me whenever we go back to Columbia.
OK I’m well again (actually going back to class in three minutes) so we should talk about MWC plans as soon as we can. I’ll be at Gunther’s this afternoon, but Shekeib if you don’t see me then call my cell.
True Karate, we would pick you up but its going the opposite way of Chicago. We’d have to drive backwards 4 and a half hours then drive 7 and a half hours to Chicago from NE. Thats gonna be a 12 hour trip for us. Man, I’d like to see you there, but since its just so far away, it’ll take too long just for one tourney. We’d probably pick you up if it was kinda on the way… like a 1 or 2 hour detour. I mapquested it so you know I thought about it.
It would be a 24 hour trip there and back for us if we picked you up. Sorry man.
Since you’re asking for a ride, I’m guessing no one from NE is gonna be there?
So it’s kinda short notice but I think we should do something thurs. night on top of the " prep tourney" or just have a freeplay night, or a party type thing? Since I’m not going  I wanna feel like I’m “supporting our troops.” Also, it’ll be a lot of fun and I’ve been wanting to do some thing like this for a long time! (sept/oct ETA SLASH)
here are a couple ideas:
freeplay night - everyone shell out 5 bucks and MvC2, 3S, ST, and SLASH will be free.
reduce costs - reduce costs on SLASH, 3S, and MVC2 to 1 token! and make ST like 3 credits per token or some SHIT I don’t fuckin know:looney:
definitely do some round robin action on all games.:lovin:
what time was everyone gonna arrive on thurs.? 9-pm-ish?
AKA- I’ll give one of my friends a holla and see if he wants a spot on the AKA Express.
And yes, Red Roof Inn is perfect. I wonder if the TV setup is console friendly, since last time I stayed at one, they had a PPV movie/game setup. Of course, that was about ten years ago…
They still have that shit. I recall playing #R at one of the Midwests but I kinda forget how. It may not have been on a hotel TV. By the way, you might check on your ride…
Josh - I think it turns out most of us are leaving Thursday night.
Shohaib, I don’t know why you don’t seem to think much of your Yun. I can’t believe I’m encouraging anybody to play Yun because I think he’s complete gamebreaking bullshit but I really really think you’re on the right track with him.
So Shekeib, you’re gonna play the drums for my band, right? I’ve been playing Secret of Mana on zbattle, I might get in on some Super SF2 but I don’t know if I can take the pain…
Josh, those are really good Ideas (cept ST, it should be 9 tokens 1 credit), but we went over the trip Ideas for MWC and all the trips on friday suck so we thought we might leave on Thursday.
jesus christ. well, it turns out i can’t be there on thursdays because i have a mandatory film screening for my film class, and they pretty much go into that time. Basically my only good days are fridays to saturdays, and MAYBE Sundays if I completely disregard my math homework. Jesus, for an undecided major they sure are workin my ass raw. Anyway, if anybody cared or wondered why i wasnt around at all last week it was due to the HORRIBLE SICKNESS i came down with the friday before last. It got so bad i had to go back to stl, missing the entire last week of school. So yeah i’ve got that misery going for me. Im kinda bummed i wont be really able to participate on tourneys but o well i hope i can provide you guys some sort of competition on the weekends, which there will be a great lack of THIS weekend since all you guys are going to mwc, o well, more time to dick around with jam and to get used to the 3s stick. Good luck at the tourney!
I can’t believe Ky is the best in Slash. I didn’t think Eddie was a bad choice as far as being the best character in Guilty Gear just because of his steep learning curve. I eventually wanted to play Eddie but whatever.
My opinion: give it a few months and he won’t be. He’ll probably still be top tier though.
Straightforward characters are going to be more likely to dominate in the early stages of the game, and while I think you need to play smart and do a bunch of varied shit to win with Ky he’s definitely a simple character. Anybody who played any other character also played Ky in #R. Why not? He was low tier so you felt like a bad ass, but he also took like five minutes for an already-experienced player to learn.
Not that you can’t learn a bunch of intricate traps and setups with Ky – Chojin, one of the best players in Missouri, has the flashiest Ky I’ve seen and one of the absolute best players in the entire country, Final Showdown, is infamous for applying seven billion glitches with Ky (and dominates on the strength of his fundamental fighting game abilities besides). In fact to be honest with you that’s probably just as necessary now to win with Ky at high levels as it ever was, but now a top Ky player’s chances of actually winning a tournament full of other top players are probably much higher.
My only problem with Ky is I played a character who already lost 6 to 4 to shitty #R Ky, and he got toned way down while Ky got toned way up… I play Scrubmaster Anji now, so it’s not a big deal I guess.
I wonder why Potemkin is supposed to be top tier…
Fahim: Thanks for the well-wishing. I had that shit too, it’s terrible. We’ll go win Midwest for you.
Guys, I know some of you have heard that I won’t be going to MWC. However, I’ve concocted a plan that will allow me to go provided I can get some free housing. I’m also depending on the people who have said they will ride with me to come (including an ambiguous Hatman, upon whose contribution the entire trips fate resides), as well as the free tank of gas I’m getting out of the whole deal for coming to pick you guys up. I myself will only have $100 for this trip if I end up going, and while it won’t break me, it’s all I have to spare.
I will know everything by this evening at the latest. Regardless if I end up going to MWC or night, there’s still a chance that I’ll show up Thursday night to give those still going a sendoff and some last-minute practice.
