Columbia, MO - GGXX, ST, 3S etc

yeah, today was some good times and great oldies, Despite me forgetting gg had a punch button(man did i feel stupid). As i was playing with Jam i was slowly but surely beginning to remember why i picked her the first time i played ggx2. She will be glorious again once i get my head out of my ass, get comfortable with the joystick, and remember what exaclty she can do. Im gonna come on sunday for sure and I’d like to say i’m gonna drop by during the week, but we’ll see about that. It’s a long walk back to schurz(eh screw it i could use the excercise), and losing money hurts no matter what its for. Anyways it was nice hanging out with you guys too.

I want to schedule a 2v2 tourney in Slash some time soon. I’m almost tempted to do it Thursday or Friday afternoon because I work weekends and the world more or less revolves around me. When can you guys play? Should we just do a weekend morning? I think absolutely everybody with an interest in playing should enter, so let’s make it $3 per team winner take all double elim. It’ll run quick, like lightning. Or the new hardslash fireball, which is faster.

I call Josh for my teammate :arazz:

Seriously, let’s bring the monthlies back. But no 1v1 double elim takes forever $400 entry fee bullshit, that’s for for-serious tournaments.

i would go…but i dont have a team mate and if i did we would probably be “the laughably terrible-but-aww-they’re-so-cute-when-they-try-so-lets-not-give-them-too much-crap-when-they-lose” team. I might come to watch tho, or hell i might even be decent enough to last at least one legitimate round, so I’ll see what happens in the next coming day. Thursday or friday is fine because I dont have a class until 1:00 Friday, and Friday cause there’s no school on staurday obviously.

Anyone going to Gunthurs Today?

Why did people start spelling it with a U?

I’m going at 4 PM.

Is it not common knowledge that Aaron is in town, and has been for a few days?

What has happened to me, I’ve started using emoticons. This is the beginning of the end.

ill be up after i finish my math homework

to Andrew, Aaron, and the others who went to eat: sorry for leaving without saying a decent goodbye, especially to you, Aaron. I had to go back to the dorm to study for a meteorology exam (i dunno what the fuck i’m doing in this class). Hopefully if I dont see you again here, it’ll be at NWP. I’m really starting to dig Jam’s qcf+punch technique, i just gotta quit whipping it out for no reason, and actually try to launch something better out of it. Going “downstairs” doesn’t feel enough for me. Anyway, I’ll keep coming back, to train on slash and put the street fighters on the back burner, cause I really wanna try to get good at this, but I might put in a game or two just to get the feel of these cabinets. Great games to all. :wgrin: (yeah im gonna put an emoticon up whatcha gonna do bout it?)

I’m all for that. I’ll try get to Nathan to be my partner for this one.

I want to quit school and start a band.

Anyway, here is my current idea!

It seems to me just from asking around and observing arcade attendance that most/all of us are free for like an hour or two Thursday or Friday evening. I suggest we start up biweekly 2v2 winner-take-all $4 entry fee tournaments, and rotate games – so if we were to do Guilty Gear in two weeks, we’d do 3S two weeks after that, ST two after that, then back to Guilty Gear.

I want to go with 2v2 just to cut down on the overall matches played so we don’t get out of there all late. I’m sure everybody here can scrounge up two bucks plus the cost of games once every two weeks.

What do you guys think? I don’t think of this as a substitute for the Saturday tourneys we used to hold so much as something to do and an excuse to play. We could ban repeat teams to make things interesting or maybe even just pick the names out of a hat or something. Am I alone in liking this idea?

I like the idea, I just wonder if we’d have enough people to put together enough teams, but I may be wrong about that one. The random teams idea would be hella fun too. :bgrin:

Oh no, the thought had definitely occurred to me as well. I don’t know though, I think if we got the word out – maybe we had it on the sign out front as like “Friday Night Fights” or something stupid like that – I think a format like this has a bigger potential draw than single entry.

“FRIDAY FONDUE FEST!!” yeah. dont use that name, that’s stupid as hell. so, when are we starting this, tomorrow?(today, its officially friday. shit i need sleep.) not stepping into a guilty gear tourney, until i get good enough for any partner.

Definitely not, for all I know this is something people don’t really want to do.

So, who from Columbia is confirmed for MWC?

I know Martin (from Manhattan KS) and myself definitely want to go, and Adrian has displayed interest as well. Maybe we could meet up and chip in on a rental van or two, unless you guys had other travel plans in mind…

hey i am all about starting a band, or at least hookin’ up on some jam sessions.

2 man tournies, sounds cool. I’m also all about round robins, they’re fun and everyone gets to play everyone.

so I was thinking we could get a new atomiswave cart from coinop and here are some i was looking at but don’t know shit about (good or bad . . . mainly)

Neo geo battle coliseum
Dolphin Blue (like metal slug)
Samurai shodown VI

Fist of the north star (Hokutou No Ken) … just kidding that one’s too expensive but I downloaded a gamer’s vison RanBat of it, heard it was crazy? gonna watch it when i get home!

that’s my 2 cent

Hokuto no Ken… you’ll see.

Personally I’d play Samsho Tenka a few times and might not even look at those other games. I think the scene for that sort of died in Japan when KOF XI came out, and I don’t know if that’s because the game was bad or because KOF XI came out.

Or I could be making that up, maybe the game does have a scene in Japan.

I’m going to be an ass and reccomend KoFXI, even though it’s not on the list. This year it’s relatively balanced, fast, and stylish as hell. It’s my favorite KoF save '98. SS:Tenka is a weird one from what I’ve played, and I doubt it’d get much play after a while.

I dont know shit about shit, so I can’t tell you shit.

Me, Shohaib, Aaron, and Andy will all probably be at Gunthers some time today like 1pm or so, can’t be too sure, but we’ll be there.

we wont be there at 1, prolly 3

nbc,ss6,and kof11 at release cost around $2000 like 4 months later they were around 600 or lower…FotNS might follow?
