I want to do a “fun night”/PARTY!!! @ gunther’s in early July and a tournament in late july on a sat… early … 2pm-ish.
Both events are open to any one from STL, NEB, KC, Columbia, WHOEVER? the more the merrier.
The party will prolly be on the tuesday following the 4th of july … so the 11th?! 9 or 10pm until whenever.
And the tournament just needs to be about a week or 2 before EVO.

No, but seriously, we should have a good real tournament, and it’d be cool if we advertised for it starting now at the Tournament Event Thread. We could have Slash, 3s, and ST on arcade, and we should even put MVC2 in the line up, even though the sticks are supposed to suck ( I can’t tell the difference) but I mean, its not like it would be that big of a hassle to have MVC2 as a tournament would it? There wouldn’t be that many entries for it right? And, I’m sure it’ll make some people happy. Doesn’t that one guy in Columbia (Justin…I think?) play MVC2 a bunch?
We could advertise it as “A Real Arcade Tournament!!!” I don’t really care much about console vs. arcade, I just don’t like fucked up sticks with arcade, but that isn’t a problem at Gunthers, so I think this would be a good tournament. But, I do have one concern… Don’t most american players play Guilty Gear on console, so would playing it on arcade piss them off? I guess, if it is a big deal, we could take a vote to have it on console or arcade, we could even use the vote feature on SRK. It’s not like I really care which version of Slash we play, I’ll get beat either way.

The third Shaffiey is Yong, a Ky player who used to live in Columbia. He hasn’t been playing a bunch but when he was here and at his prime I was probably the only player who was better than he was – and this is back in #R when it was much harder for Ky to dominate. He’s been out of the game for a while but I’ll give him the strat/combo hookup if you guys want and then we can play a bunch of casual and get up to speed before the tournament.
I sort of want to get there a day or two early, but since I’m staying at the Red Rock it might be cost-prohibitive…

Shekeib, I read your post, I just sort of don’t want to comment on any sort of tournament plans right now. Shit is too crazy and I probably wouldn’t be someone to rely on for anything but day-of staffing and obvious supply stuff (i.e. “we need a PS2”). Sorry.
Speaking of Marvel though, as far as I know the problem with the MVC2 cab is the buttons… I don’t miss all that much but I don’t know anything about the game, so I was always reluctant to run it in case it turned to shit when good players tried, you know, actual advanced stuff on it. Dunno what to tell you on that one.
edit: Also, GG pretty much has to be console I think. As far as I know the only people in the country who prefer arcade are us and Nebraska…
