Columbia, MO 2008: We Post More Than We Play

Provided I’m not asleep I’ll be there :lovin:

Shohaib - what’s up, are you back/not going to Boston then?

Paul and-rew - :amazed: see what i did there. Will this gaming session be going into the later hours? I can try and get off early. Paul u should bring TM: Black and “Iron Baby” (NGBC).

I don’t have class until 2 PM, not that I really feel like assing my sleep schedule up and playing until 4 AM but we can go on for a while after you get here.

That’s not necessary, I already own it.

In my defense, it was only fifteen bucks.

Well, I guess some of the stuff with the faculty members didn’t work out in Boston. That’s all I’ll say for now. So I’ll be here for a while. I’ve actually been here since the first week of school. All I really want to do fighting game wise is to go to tournaments with my brother. I really don’t have time for that. I just realized that I was supposed to go to the Green Bay tournament last weekend. I was way too busy anyway. It just sucks that it has to be that way. It’s definitely not something I’m sick of, technically I’m pretty new to fighting games.

Final Round sounds like something I’d like to go to. Though, a whole weekend is quite a lot of time for me.

I just now read your PM Josh, thanks.

Bryce - If you haven’t seen this already:http://blog.capcom.com/archives/872
Check out the improvements on Blanka in HD remix. If you still want a stick for DC, talk to Paul about his Mas.

Silverfighter - Do u wanna play some 3s or what? Do u live in Col. now? Do u and Bryce only check this thread every full moon?

I’m gonna try and get off around 8:30pm tonight.

Are you guys playing tonight?

It sure is nice to like actually play isn’t it

you’re making up stories n’ shit

good games to Andrew and Shohaib (didn’t get to play Josh):annoy:

I’m going to keep up ABA for now; I still need to get more games in soon.

That’s right Josh, keep pumping up that .exe or I will give you shit forever:wgrin:

So yea you guys make the next trip, dodge them dear and shit, yea!

Anymore word on how many of you bastards are comin to FR?

We’re about a month out now, eh? I guess I can start checking into it! :bgrin: Seriously though, I’ll have to check costs and see if I can get off

So Paul has one? I assume he’s willing to sell it? Yeah, I saw Blanka and the other characters as well. The graphics seem bloated, adorned, or over exemplified and that makes me feel the game is going to suck. Whose Silverfighter again? I’ll take him on in some ST :bgrin:

Okay Modest Misanthrope, I just replied, I have to return to school now :encore:

Shohaib - Good shit w/ Eddie. Sorry for the silent treatment after the matches, but I was steaming a little after being trapped in the corner the last 2 matches. But i was getting you pretty good in the early goings so…:arazz: One tip I can give you on Eddie vs Axl: Aaron always does a HS drill after he blocks a “regular” rensengeki(w/ no frc or followup up/down) it keeps axl from moving after the rensen.

Andrew - this tip is awaiting your criticism/approval and possible tips for axl to avoid this situation.

Bryce - Did u even follow that link? or read the post? Super STREET FIGHTER II Turbo HD REMIX - NOT sf4. Changes made to Blanka to make him not suck so hard … like a Hoover… or a Dyson.:looney:

Paul - Johnny super strategic rushdown = the JSSR. It’s like the USSR, but minus the communism.

I’m not an Axl master of course, but what I’d be thinking if I were in this matchup:

There’s plenty of time to verify that the rensengeki was blocked and simply hold up to push Eddie out if the first rensen leaves you in a zone where one of the drills can hit you. It doesn’t seem to be an especially common tactic (but it’s hard to tell, because Axl videos are so uncommon anyway), but in certain matchups (mostly characters whose best attack angles are aerial, since Axl gets so much damage off of anti-air) you used to see Axl players end blockstrings with the up followup to rensen all the time. I don’t know the frames on a blocked up followup and it could be that you’re at huge disadvantage, but I remember seeing this a ton against Anji and Potemkin.

If Axl just does a naked rensen with no followup and it’s spaced so that he’s in H drill country, I can think of no reason not to do the drill. Maybe IAD instead if you’re greedy, you’ve hit him with the drill and you’re pretty sure he’s just going to sit there, I think it’s hard for Axl to anti-air Eddie’s IAD on reaction (jumping and flight on the other hand are easy, deep 2S). His best options are probably guess 5P and reactionary 623P.

So basically I agree with you completely, but that’s my only advice to avoid the situation. Keep in mind if you’ve hit the shadow (not implausible with Axl) or it’s run out, you don’t really need to rensen at the end of blockstrings at all. Not that Axl has amazing pressure by any means, but since Eddie doesn’t have the option to summon the worst-case scenario is that he makes a completely psychic guess on how to deal with whatever tactic you’re using (pressuring with 6H, frame traps off of 3P, attempts to hit with dust, unblockable or crossup move) and you eat a piddly shit punisher or 2P counterpoke into a blockstring that lasts until he gets the shadow back. Not as big a deal as, you know, Eddie hits you clean and IKs you. But I wasn’t watching your matches, so you could very well have been doing this for all I know.

Hmm, it’s kind of late, and friday I have two tests, one in American History and another in Ethics, and also a short quiz in Calculus :crybaby: I forgot to ask you Josh, do you have another copy of 3rd strike for Dreamcast, I sort of lost mine, you don’t mind makin’ another do ya :lovin: Also this -> :nunchuck: makes me hope they have FeiLong or even some other character in a street fighter game that can use a weapon. I always wished that FeiLong would use his nunchucks in ST. The only SF character I can think of that had a weapon, at least as a super is Rolento (?) from SF Alpha (I think?). I know, in Super Turbo, Guile’s super should of been combing peoples hair, but he’d be broken in terms of damage when it came to fighting Dhalsim or Sagat, and maybe Zangief

Oh yeah, I forgot, I just looked at the link, that’s hilarious. Be careful Josh, if you meet him and dress up like your avatar he may butt rush you  … :shake: Okay, maybe that was a little too much

Andrew - the Green HRAP is done. Turns out the silicone grease I bought isn’t what i thought it was, so I used WD-40 to clean out the grease and slightly lube it. We’ll see how long the stick stays “loose” w/ no grease? Turns out that stuff I bought would be better at fixing your leaky toilet than improving the movement of the joystick.

Bryce - You don’t play 3S?

I know, but I wan’t to learn how to play and practice more so I can. They made 3rd Strike for dreamcast anyways didn’t they? I guess I could go get it at slakers…

You probably won’t find it at Slacker’s.

Supposedly the DC 3S port is way screwed up. Josh is skeptical about that, but he’s the only person I’ve ever met in my life who is. The big problem is supposedly it’s got input delay, unblockables don’t work either.

Yes it is shitty = New Type AKA guard breaks don’t work. The input delay myth might be like ST DC small sprites myth… AKA a lot of hype. Slackers might have a copy cause i just sold them mine a few months ago, but don’t buy it unless it’s 5 - 10 bucks! look for the copy I gave you first UUUUGGGGHHHHH!!!:annoy::mad::rolleyes:. If you can’t find it I’ll try to burn another copy, but I’m afraid of making a coaster because disc juggler/nero is required for burning.
