I don’t want to jinx it but there’s still a chance I can show up, if I myself am considerably better by then I have two days to catch waaay up on homework and I should be able to justify playing if I can… I thought I’d be needed at the house but my parents claim to be much less sick than I was.
Also I finally one-credited Castlevania, dumb thing was it was a really bad run but Billy, Nathan and I found out there’s a sort of safe spot on Dracula’s first form… second form IMO is pretty weak if you have even two hits worth of life left on him, so it’s pretty much gg if you get to him with any lives in reserve at all.

And yeah, the first form is just normal Dracula with some goofy-looking big-nosed mask… the problem is he’s so big that if he spawns in in a certain way, you’ll take contact damage from his body. He also takes forever, it’s so boring.
I think I’ll work on Ninja Gaiden next since I don’t like Castlevanias 3 or 4, I can basically one-life that game until halfway through the last level… I don’t know how to beat the last boss without the screw attack though.
I used to try and figure out speedruns for CV IV, but it’s just too fucking hard. That game is so easy if you are patient, when you rush it’s a fucking beatdown.
I think you can jump behind him before he spawns, then get on top of his head or something and just regulate him, you don’t even need the screw attack. I’ve seen it in a video somewhere, I was pretty surprised. Shin also wowed everyone when he said he didn’t need the screw attack to own the fuck outta that thing.

Are we talking about the first form of Jaquio, where he’s flying across the room, or the second form with the heart? Because the heart form is easy no matter what. I actually beat that game before realizing that the screw attack is fucking broke, but I sure died hellas doing so.
SO HORD! Yeah it is, but I’m convinced all you need to do is get dual spread and machine gun, which make every boss ridiculously easy. That is, until the final battle, when you want dual crush.
I don’t know if we’re thinking of the same thing, but there’s an NES tips guy on youtube with a southern accent who has pretty simple explanations on how to beat lots of bastard stuff that isn’t actually that hard in a bunch of NES games. I don’t like to look at it because most of the fun for me is coming up with the strats in the first place… but for games I know I’m never gonna bother beating, like Strider, it’s pretty entertaining stuff.
Aaand back to the grind.

Well there’s pretty much no way I can play this weekend.
I also can’t afford Final Round anymore and even if I could I probably couldn’t justify going. I think I’m basically done traveling to tournaments, not that I particularly want to stop but I have too much on my plate with school this semester.
Another thing: I can’t answer calls past 10 PM anymore. Aaron, if you could pass that on to Andy I’d appreciate it, I think he called me at 1 AM the other day. I have to get up early every day of the week now and 1 AM is way way too late.

I feel you on not travelling to tournaments anymore. Not only do I not do as well as I used to, but the drive to play is gone (latter related to the former? lol). Most tournaments are filled with people I know and like to be around, but going to tournaments for the sake of competing, then finding out you went to the Cheers cast reunion special instead is…lame, for a tourney. Tourney’s are cool, but if the drive to improve doesn’t come with it then I’m out. I’m going to retire after this year’s Evo. We can play in-house, but I’ll be done with tournements. Real life is gonna have to take over.
Not much will change, but my attitude about the game will probably drop a lot. I’m really getting sick of it, honestly. I’ll always love fighters, but I’m fucking 23 years old. If I’m gonna make a move, I gotta focus on it now. So I guess what I’m trying to say is…
