I was actually waiting for someone to make a Cole thread. I’m actually liking him in the lab thus far. I haven’t taken him online yet but he seems pretty fun. I see a lot of guys bunny hopping around like this is some sort of FPS circa 96 so I figured I would whore is whip move. His Sonny Chiba stomp is okay to get over projectiles but if you don’t have it down perfectly, you can get punished with a dp. His Blanka slide is looking nice too.
It does combo, you just have to hit the very tip of the characters hitbox and time the second attack perfectly. At least this works against Akuma.
I like Cole but, as someone said earlier, he’s weak. His moves do too little damage. Example…
Go to - Challenge > Mission # 2. Try to kill those guys w/ only Cole’s special moves. It’s not easy!!!

This is because Viper had hidden potential and when she first came out, people didn’t play her to her full potential.
Cole is just bad, plain and simple. Mediocre normals, horrible specials and no synergy with any character.
I love him to death, but he’s just…bad.

Cole plays great. It is too early to judge how bad Cole is right now, if you are saying that Viper had hidden potential, why not him?
Viper had cancels and was the only person in the vanilla cast with a super jump and had an attack that you could control the anges of to pretty extreme levels, along with a chainable special due to all of the other things combined. Her potential wasn’t hidden so much as it was adding everything together.
Coles tools feel a lot less “lol hidden potential”

I discovered the same thing yesterday actually. But you need to know that the s.HK can be blocked after they roll, since it’s not punishable.
Also, he basically has an EX version of his slide, his Quick combo Preset 2. It will combo into the follow-up no matter what range you use it at, unlike the normal version which only combos at the tip.
Surprised to see everyone here think Cole is weak. I only played him a bit tonight but it seems like his 750 health is justified. Good tools, good anti-air, good space control, safe on block rekka. I seem to recall Seth saying that Cole was winning all the internal Capcom playtester tournaments as well?
I can’t believe they gave him QCF, HCF, and DP + P moves, though. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?? I can’t do cr.MP xx rekka if I’m holding down back now. No idea why they didn’t put his HCF + P move on HCB + K or something.
Cole is great…loving him so far.

Mediocre tools, good anti air I agree there, his rekka is in no way safe on block except his EX version. And you shouldn’t believe anything Capcom says. ESPECIALLY anything that Seth Killian says. Maybe he was nerfed since then, who knows?
I also agree on his HCF moves. That shit is just dumb, I’m trying to do rekka shenanigans but LOL EX SHOCK WAVE.

Its nothing too flashy really. and considering i can’t figure out how to combo into pandora (i remember seth saying it was possible…but then again…it was seth lol) its probably useless.

Hmm… I did jab rekka against a Ken player and blocked reversal fierce DP which is 3 frames. I think it’s -2? Maybe I’m misremembering… I don’t own a PS3 so I can’t go check right now.
