The Last Airbender was terrible. An atrocity, if you will. I set my expectations pretty low, and even then it didn’t even meet those. The dialogue was terrible, when there was any, and there was like zero character development. Things just seemed to happen without real reason or explanation. And just when you thought something really cool was about to happen or something that would finally make sense…it just didn’t. The whole movie was like being cock-blocked by M. Night Shaymalamadingdong.

Personally I think it should be Sonic 5 or Sonic and Tales (would have to include his sidekick). It’s like they are ignoring Sonic and Knuckles was ever made. I do have to agree with some of the comments about not including other characters… What’s wrong with Tales following the cool guy around. 
Sonic/Sega fan’s correct me but…
I’m pretty sure Sonic&Knuckles wasn’t really a straight sequel to Sonic 3…it was more of an add-on that allowed you to play as Knuckles in any of the previous games, and also added a bunch of extra content to those games. It was more of a massive patch then it’s own seperate game…
Then again I was a Nintendo kid, so /whichever. Sonic 4 looks good, but I think they need to speed up the homing jump more. It slows the game down just enough to not make it as fast as the past 2-D Sonic’s.
S&K lets you play as Knuckles in Sonic 2, and if you hook it up with other Genesis games you get a bunch of new bonus stages. S&K happened because a couple stages were apparently nearly done for Sonic 3 but they rushed the game out (I think Flying Battery + something else are in the S3 stage select) – SEGA took the cut stages + made new ones for a new game. It could have easily been called Sonic 4. Also Sonic Crackers (which became Knuckles’ Chaotix) was known as Sonic 4 too.
So IMO calling the new Sonic episodes “Sonic 4” is as dumb as the title of “Mega Man 9” (I mean despite the 10 million Mega Man games, Rockman & Forte was more of a Mega Man 9 despite using some old bosses), but for marketing it makes sense for them I guess.
