Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

If anyone is curious, I did the Ultra after a Kikoken because I thought FOR SURE he was going to slide and I wanted to have a godlike read. I was wrong unfortunately.

meaty koken into u2 can be a true blockstring if done right tho

Skatan, 'not sure if you wanted to keep them, but your videos are gone from your archive on twitch (twitch automatically deletes them after a couple of days unless you save them manually).

I streamed for about 44 minutes. I was in a little less than a good mood because I tried to stream earlier in the day and a hiccup made the stream go down and I didn’t know, so I lost like two hours of footage (there were some embarassing L’s I had to hold in that footage too lol):

'Got a 2 hour session in before my xbl gold expired (funny ending due to it expiring):

Aside from dropping combos (which is a problem I had that entire day) can you guys take a look at this match and give me some tips?

I was mashing EX legs at the end thinking it would just take the match, now I know to just wait for the animation to end lol.

I know its kinda tacky to ask for tips with a win, but this is the only match I found from SJ of me so far. I have one against a Balrog player that beat me, I feel like i threw that match away so there will be better stuff to criticize once that gets uploaded.

I would say that you used EX Legs as a punish, go to for hit confirms and a few times just wasted on block a little more often than I think you should as it meant you never had a lot or full meter for very long at all if ever, I prefer to hit confirm cr.short into her st.fierce combo as much as possible in this match just because against Fei having Super stocked really does stop Fei abusing Rekka and corner pressure.

I have other comments but they are all small things, such as using normals at ranges that you know will punish his whiffed moved, you didn’t really try to keep him honest with them (on reaction) rather than letting Fei in etc… Also you missed a few cr.mp to avoid CW but to be honest that stuff is pretty small stuff as that Fei wasn’t really going to punish you for those kinds of mistakes and didn’t really impose himself on the match at all…

I think generally you played well though, well you won easily enough…

like i said im going to post a match against a balrog player that beat me its just a matter of waiting until its uploaded. I really feel like I threw away the match, and theres a lot to look at for that one, but this one is decent too because you can see my overall gameplan for this matchup. Also im trying to learn how to play in a tournament environment, so any match that I play is worth looking at. I get REALLY nervous about everything.

Thanks for the tips though im going to try and implement some of the things you said.

Cool deal Necro, Rog can be either easy or a headache. Rog hits hella hard and his jabs have deceiving range.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a year of live again, haha.
Hopefully I’ll have something video worth within a week with Chun-Li.

i have played like 100 matches today and yesterday with KBR (rog) and i got bodied lol

Honestly I performed better than I expected yesterday.
I’m used to playing in lag anymore so when it hit I lost my rhythm something fierce and that screwed me over a few times, but I came against some solid players and nice character variety.
I’ll try and upload some worthwhile matches in time, I’m focusing more on Juri and Ken for critiques at the moment.

Also 4Neqs PM me if you want… With links and what you want…

As promised.

This match makes me kinda salty because I realized just how bad I played. I dont even think I realized that I had super at the one point. It stings a little because I really feel like I could have won this if I wasnt playing stupid.

Necro:
Vs. Fei - one of the things you can do for even more of an edge is focus dash through the last hit of his chicken wing for a punish. He was doing it from ranges where that was free.

Vs. Rog - other than the missed super punish opportunity, I saw you committing to lvl 2 focus a lot but dashing back instead of dashing forward after releasing it. Since it’s free pressure on block and a bigger damage opportunity on hit, it’s better to go in after it makes contact. Also, I’d go for harder forward jumpins than j. lk more often to keep the pressure on him because even blocked moves is more meter for you, which is too valuable in this match.

Check your PM’s.

Looking really nasty there Wii, makes me shy away from posting anything XD

Don’t be. No-one will be able to help that way.

I’ve never actually seen someone use EX Legs FADC Headstomps in a match. I do it in Training Mode all the time for the lols, but seriously never actually seen someone use it. That was sick. Your Chun is looking pretty on point, Wii. I worry that sometimes you play a little aggressive for my taste, but that’s part of the beauty of Chun is that she can played successfully in so many different ways.

Well that is just Wii and I’s style and influences from Vivi and Y24, even Gunslignermeeks.
Don’t get me wrong I eat plenty of DPs and such because I pressure wake-ups. But I can’t play scared to move either so first chances I get to go offensive. I take them.
fought a really solid cammy tonight and made him respect Chun’s aggressive tendencies. We finished up 3-3 and I admittedly got beaten pretty bad in the last few rounds. He basically figured out he had to rush me down before I got any momentum. I could post a few of those fights. They’d probably be fun to watch.

One thing is for sure, I hate trades - especially because Chun seems to end up on the wrong end of the deal.
And I think I’m going to give up 4 button tech because of it. I’ve had my focus come out and get beaten by armor breakers and other anomalies, lol.
Throw tech online is complete ass anyway. I totally tech a good 75% of the times I’m thrown.
