Opposition could played it better… but we all like Akuma thrashings here, right?

I’ve been seeing this guy’s videos pop up over the last couple of weeks. I really like his/her’s playing style.

Yeah Madjestik is very good, he’s French and I too like his style I haven’t played him in a LONG time and even then it was only 2 games and we went even, it was so long ago (Super I think) that its fair to say we’ve both improved a LOT and looking at it him more so than me ha. He’s good but I’ve seen matches of him getting blown up and he does panic and mash legs etc… Still he’s very good with space and confirming damage so that doesn’t happen all that much

Also for the record that Akuma is VERY VERY good and I’d wager over a set he’d beat Madjestik (can’t be 100 percent but I know him and he’s good), so it wasn’t a bad opponent just a bad one off ranked match for the guy.

High level Chun play seems to be gravitating to more aggressive use of crouch fierce and overall emphasis on offense. This guy seems to have caught on to that. I think as more of us get used to that, we’re going to find more ways to use Chun’s tools (which most people have always used defensively) as offensive ways. I don’t know if there will ever be ways to open people up. Chun’s jump arc seems to be one of the biggest inhibitors to her offense that I see but time will tell.

I have a theory that she’ll more or less evolve like Vega has recently and begin to become more prominent as people open their minds to playing her differently. I’m probably full of it but we’ll see.

Yeah I feel I play Chun aggressively and pretty much always have, in fact I’m trying to play her more defensively atm just to improve that aspect of my game. The thing is though Chun has good offence but is NOT a rushdown character, she lacks the tools and options to effectively rushdown, what she does have is good normals to control the space and pace of a fair few match ups and that in turn leads to the ability to apply decent pressure. She can also deal good damage, its possible to basically win a round (80 percent of someones life bar) with one cr.HP and then a reset into Super. I know that means spending all her meter but she builds it fast and there are few characters can do this from one reset that isn’t that easy to deal with.

I like Madjestik because (even though I’m probably wrong lol) I think he plays Chun like I do and uses a LOT of the same tech I do its just he gets it to work for him more often than me cos he has better control of fights and therefore scares players into been less rash than they are against me and that I think is the key to how Chun can compete, not through over aggressive play or mix ups (which she has practically none outside of gimmicks that mostly use meter) but by setting the tone for a fight and punishing mistakes enough to then scare people into letting her impose herself on them with legs pressure and footsies that make people feel they have less options…

This however is ultimately why Chun will still struggle at high level and in particular in some match ups against high tiers because there are just too many situations where she simply can’t impose herself and struggles to get the most out of her tools due to other characters strengths and without the fear of a proper mix up game other characters risk to reward against Chun simply undoes her…

Anyway that’s my opinion and I feel I do play her “in the right way” and beat 80 percent of people I run into (online that is) however the other 20 percent and those that are skilled with better characters than Chun I simply can’t compete with regardless of how I play and trust me when I say Madjestik has the same problem as I’ve been out of my way to find matches of him playing people I lose to (or both me and him have on our friendslist) and his style, confidence and ability doesn’t save him against them all that often either… Sadly as good as he is (or any other good Chun is) she’s flawed and its in a way that can’t be fixed due to her nature as fixing her flaws or offering her more options on peoples wake up would simply break her and make her too good

Edit: Here is a recent upload of me so you know I’m not talking rubbish about my style (note though as proof of my own argument this guy let me control the fight, no idea if he was actually good, he had points but I left is lobby after 1 fight against him cos I didn’t rate him lol)

Not particularly proud of these, I feel I could have zoned better. Admittedly, I’ve been tied down with work too, but I always try and squeeze some time, particularly during the weekends.

Looks like he’s using Chun a bit more and looking a lot less rusty than last time he was uploaded

A quick video I made showing how I do cr. fierce xx hk legs. This method maybe useful for some as it is no nonsense, and doesn’t put your hand in awkward positions

He’s the yellow (Original Color 6) Chun-Li who did a few tutorials back in the days of Super. Some of his help vids I’m not sure I agree with, but I did learn a lot from watching his Xbox sessions. Very good commentary voice too.

i see, ill watch it later then , thanks
