Chun-li Video/Discussion Thread

You would have won the first match if your anti-air were stronger or if your oki game were better.

I know you were under a lot of pressure, but you need to just breathe one time and throw out a fierce punch to get him off you when he’s jumping so predictably.

One range to get used to is where lp dash straight will whiff. Crouch there or back dash to it and wait for lp dash straight, occasionally – whiff punish with sweep.

Figure out how to beat him on wake-up. Chun has option selects up the ass.

i was wondering if anyone knows any good videos on youtube with chun li vs viper? ive been playing against viper for a really really long time and I still lose way more than i think i should by now =/

i was going to post a video of mine against a really good viper player, where i did a big comeback but honestly i did so much bad stuff that it would be hard to seperate whats good from whats bad/whats luck

the best strategy is to get her in the corner and dominate. heres a good video that does not demonstrate my point but is good anyway

Haneyama knows the matchup !! Very interesting match

I was hoping Han could pull out the win. I recently fought this Akuma player and was powerless in the face of his fireball game. All he mainly did was chuck fireballs and runaway. It’s funny cause I feel like I can deal with Akumas who do his vortex and his mixups, but this player did none of that and I just could not get through his barrage of fireballs. Could’nt dash ultra cause he would stop doing FBs unless I inched forward. I lost several matches against him, all due to time outs. Seems like near the end of that vid the same thing happened to Han. Couldn’t break through Akuma’s fireball game. Chun has no answers for it really.

Saturius i understand your feeling.
I said Haneyama know the matchup though he lose Because even he lose he succeed to block the strat of this very good akuma. watch the other match from this akuma. He just rape his opponent but versus haneyama it was clearly different. You can see Haneyama know how move on the stage and he know the several trap from akuma.
He didn’t jump to much. Heput pressure on this akuma without taking big risk and he was dealing very well with the air fireball.
No Timeout

In my opinion there is a lot to learn

umm…yeah…someone make that dance at the end a .gif plz.

also, ive been getting the feeling that I’ve hit a brick wall when trying to lvl up. maybe its because i’ve been playing too much online and not enough offline sessions. *shrugs.

EDIT 8.15.10

oh and RZO = Roy0. =P

For some reason that link you posted won’t load a video and is labelled RZO (Chun-Li) vs. Abel

well i saw some of your matches with ryu, i’m not the best chun player ever(i’m very far from it tbh) but ill try to help
this ryu player is kinda good/smart, idk many ryus online that do option selects on chuns ex sbk. Most of them are doin Jab Dp on your footsies lol

at this match i realized u have problems to get around fireball spam, in the 1st round his hadoken spam ate half of your life but then u were able to get close(your game at close range is very good) and u could equalize the match.
My tip is try to be closer most of time so you kinda shut down his fireball game.
hope that helps
i have the same problem as you trying to get around this “hadoken rain”

fixed the link. enjoyy

good games the other night, Roy (black Flash).

to reiterate some of the solid advice, tighten up your defense and focus on developing a better understanding of the right normals to use in AA and spacing opportunities.

you also want to maintain momentum when you have the opponent pressured in the corner. there were some instances when you had the upperhand and opted to reset the spacing by backdashing for no reason.

last, but not least – practice nailing her bnb’s when you get hit confirm. jab strings to hp and ex legs are key. lvl 1 focus attacks are essential too since she gains +1 frame adv. keep at it man and you’re bound to improve over time.

Not an awesome match - more like a reminder to myself. I was pretty pleased that I had the prescience to bail out of a CR. FP > Legs combo after getting the stun, rather than pressing my luck, inevitably missing that link, and going for a spin with Mr. Mashy McMasherson here.

I usually end up eating crap like that allll the time…

Nice OCV. What were the setups running on (monitors / consoles)? Out of all the characters the honda gave you the most troubles and that’s supposedly a really bad matchup for honda. He basically just jumped in with mp when he was in range and hoped you would aa with your other normals. The one time you aa him with df+lk you got trade dash ex.ll. Good shit man keep it up.

Honda is not as bad as a match up as people think. I think a calculated Honda that is familiar with the match makes it 5-5. If he gets a lead, it’s really hard for Chun-Li to catch runaway Honda.
